Default are schedules normally this fixed??

not sure where else to post this, please read-
i went to a club in brooklyn im interested in auditioning for. let me say straight off, the dancers were great. it was slow, and when two girls found out i wanted to audition there they came over and started talking about their first nights there. they assured me that most of the girls there are patient, and encouraged me to talk to the house mom. my friend bought a lap dance from one and the girl motioned me to follow her so i could learn how to do one. she refused to accept a tip from me and until i gave up and thanked her.

house mom asked when i could audition and left. the manager asked the same and seemed annoyed when i asked basic questions (do i just need id and clothes? what time does auditioning start? who do i tip?) so i stopped and said i could audition next week. when i asked if it was fine to work only 2 shifts a week he literally scoffed and said all dancers work 4 days a week from 7 until closing. however, the place is listed as being open from 12 pm to 4 am. i called (before i went) to verify age limit at 12 30 pm and they were open!

is it normal for clubs to do this, for example, if they need dancers only at certain times? it didnt make sense to me to pack a ton of girls at night on slow days. i cnt audition because i can only work day shifts for a couple of months, but is it worth bothering? the manager was barely professional. i went to a club in another borough where a dj even took the time to show me the rooms and the security cameras. there i was told i could pick my schedule, but alas, they open at night.

Most clubs won't force you to work 4 days a week. Sometimes you'll be forced to work day shifts if you are new though.

Did you explain your schedule to the manager? You need to tell them what your availability is... sometimes they make exceptions.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

oh dear..the manager looked as if he felt he was doing me a favor answering me about the shifts. he fully expected id audition knowing nothing about the place .im going to call and ask, becausei cant understand how day shifts could all be filled anyway.

Every club I have worked in had vastly different rules regarding hours worked.

IMO you annoyed the manager to no end and he was brushing you off. Personally, I would have simply showed up to audition and then asked the house mom or other girls questions. I have yet to find a manager who really cares about you. There are lots of girls out there, especially now, and he doesn't want to coddle a newbie.

I would give him one hell of a show and explain what you can give him not what you already need from him. Stop asking so many questions.

In my area--New Orleans--clubs are extremely laid-back about scheduling. I have yet to work at a club that required me to adhere to one. Having said that, though, I know not all places are as easy going as this town.

GI Barbie is right when she says all clubs have different rules. I would say, though, that the schedule this club is forcing upon you seems excessive. I wouldn't work there. Especially if the manager is ALREADY being so rude and disrespectful.

that's the way it is for most of the clubs in my area. We have day shift, but no matter what it is 4 shifts a week, 8 - 9 hour shifts.
It sucks at first, but then you just get used to it.

Do you have a car? Maybe you could try somewhere outside of the city (like CT or Jersey). There HAVE to be clubs that'll let you work day shift. And don't worry about that stick-up-the-ass manager, you'll findmost ppl in this industry are more accomidating to newbies.
