    Dizzy Scores holding new ownership

Score!! is going to reopen!! Let's go pretend hot girls like us for who we really are! Scores, the strip club made famous by Howard Stern's stories on the Howard Stern show, is going to be back in dumb expensive fun action.

According to the , real estate investor Robert Gans bought the building on West 28th Street where the famous strip club once graced the laps of Howard Stern, Mario Lemieux and Owen Wilson.
Gans already owns the on 45th Street and paid a few million for the greatest boob show palace of all time. No date as to when it will open but keep your fingers crossed. The liquor license is still pending.

Scores was closed in January 2007 after cops raided the club and arrested several employees on , proving that was wrong and there was sex in the Champagne Room. Undercover vice cops went to Scores and found sex was being sold in VIP lounges, backrooms and bathrooms. Supposedly, the managers told the undercover cops that it was okay to pay for sex because that's why the sex dens were there. Quotes for "services" ranged from $300 to $500 for oral sex and $500 to $700 for all-the-way intercourse. For a VIP room, complete with a table, couch, and TV, the price was $1500.

But now the club's under new ownership. And, with the recession, it's a good time to buy a strip club. Richard Goldring and Elliot Osher, the previous owners, spent a half million more for the club back in 2004. Fast forward to April 2008 when the grand total came to $9.58 million, a great bargain for a place with a cabaret license that prohibits a rival club within 500 feet of the venue. Gans also spent $400K for a controlling interest in the holding company that licenses the Scores brand. That means someone's going on a Scores road trip!

If Gans needs any insight on how to go about a reopening, he can find a lot of insight from the denizens about the opening on a strip club forum called There are guys on this forum that are strip club nerds (which is kind of like comic book nerds except comic books don't question your sexual orientation if you don't buy them).

One member states, "I'd love to see a place that puts guys at ease in these tough economic times instead of making them feel they have to keep their sphincters tight for a few more hours outside the office."

If Gans wants to take on the challenge of making a strip club comfortable, he should take a look at . This Northwest city more strip clubs per capita than any other spot in the US. And they knew how to make a guy (or girl) feel relaxed when they visited: everyone is welcomed (They even have a !), booze flows pretty freely, the strippers are friendly, and you don't have to grease the palms of everyone; just get a beer and watch ladies work.

Another Stripper Web member wrote, "The owners of Penthouse want to bring back the old glory days of lap dances, bringing back the celebrity draw, the great customer service, drop-dead beautiful girls, and just a rip-roarin' great strip club experience. Really, that's what Scores was known for many (MANY) moons ago." Sounds as if they're warming up to Gans already.

    Hmmm.VeryInteresting...oldmanbadman rdncoic

What is very interesting here is that someone invested $400,000 to take control of SCRH in order to establish a controlling and important interest in a really dead company. But wait, is it really dead? Income is there and costs are not. Almost no debt. Everything is still on line for growth and more important, someone has seen that there is value in the brand name of Scores Holding. There is the brand name and the internet brand name also. More here than meets the eye. But we shall see I guess!

Robert Gans is going to be offering new positions in his new/old business. Will Scores holding now be the 900 lb gorilla in the club business? A new winner is going to take over an old winner without the crooks. Time to offer your talents to Mr. Gans? Time to start looking for a new start in the business? You have the talent, he needs it!

    Hmmm...WhatWouldItMean...oldmanbadman rdncoic

What would it mean? A majority holder of 66% will do this. First of all, a 100 to 1 reverse split to crush out the percentage of small holders that would lose on the less than one percent in a reverse split. Yes, you have 9,999 shares and now you have 99.99 shares minus the .99. You will lose the 99 shares (TImes 100) as they do not add up to one share now. Of course you will be paid out in market value as of the day of transaction. That increases a holding of over 66% to 74% for sure.

Next, Mr Big, R. Gans, will announce his takover of Scores. Not bad and not bad at all. Big shareholders will profit. Mr. Gans has control of Scores. He will then build out the business to the max. Shares will be available for investors for the long haul. $$$$

And you? The reason clubs exist? Well, who will open the grand opening of Scores? Why only the best strippers and employees of all. Who will be there? You? I don't know, but with my 1.6% holding of Scores Holding, I am sure I will be a winner. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Sorry for the delay in response. I was too busy peeing in my pants from all of the excitement.

Seriously though, your giddy attitude is less than contagious. Hype is cheap.

Maybe you don't understand. Scores West is going to open again. Kind of hard to read and understand at the same time for you I guess.

On January 27, 2009, we entered into a licensing agreement with I.M. Operating LLC (“IMO”) for the use of the Scores brand name with I.M. Operating LLC (“IMO”) The address for IMOs’ operations will be at the location of the former Scores West nightclub, 533-535 West 27th Street, New York, NY (the “West 27 th Street Building”), which is also owned by our majority shareholder. Royalties payable to us under this license have been set at 3% of gross revenues. The West 27 th Street Building is owned by Westside Realty of New York, whose majority shareholder is also our majority shareholder. IMO has applied for and received a liquor license and is currently renovating the club. We believe the club will commence operations during the second quarter 2009. The Company received a $50,000 cash payment from IMO during the 2009 period which will be applied towards future royalties.

So when it opens again, big chances for strippers and their sort with the SCORES brand name. And big chances for early movers. oldmanbadman rdncoic

    Hmmm...Gosh...oldmanbadman rdncoic

Gosh, wonder why some people get mad here when I post information about the strip scene and ask for direct input from the experts? Yes, the strippers and their associates that have worked for Scores and have direct input to the pulse of this really large community. By reading some of your input on Scores (Some of it sort of outdated) I noticed than many were influenced by the Scores brand of clubs and were very sorry it failed the first time!

If it offends you to read my posts, it will not be difficult for me to end this thread. I only dig out information and post it but what I do is not important at all. Just trying to have thoughts from the experts. So I am not sorry to end this thread, but I am sorry that no one here is open about their ideas and thoughts about the new opening of Scores West. Swell.... The random shill-meister is implying that I am immature.

Tell me, rd, do you have any other purpose on this board aside from singing Scores' praises from our rooftops? Or are you single-handedly trying to up the Scores stock price with your manic ramblings?

For your information, I can toss out numbers and acronyms with the best of 'em. Like.... there are 18 strip clubs in NYC, 16 of which are west of 5th ave.... 13 of those are between Central Park and Union SQ.... so I won't be jumping up and down squealing with glee as another fish decides to come in and divvy up this already cramped pond. *yawn*

Clearly you have a stake in the game.... which is all fine and dandy..... but just because you say Scores 2.0 is the best thing since sliced bread doesn't necessarily make it so.

Like a phoenix arising from the ashes of its embattled home on West 28th street’s Club Row area, world-renowned strip club is back in business. The establishment, which was made famous by Howard Stern, had hardly been a hotbed for lusty action lately; rather, it was inactive after a devastating NYPD raid shut it down over two years ago. Jon Franklin of explains that, “Scores was closed in January 2007 after cops raided the club and arrested several employees on prostitution charges…Undercover cops went to Scores and found sex being sold in VIP lounges, backrooms, and bathrooms. Supposedly, the managers told the undercover cops that it was okay to pay for sex because that’s why the sex dens were there.”
Well, regardless of what the ‘sex dens’ were there for, the city didn’t take too kindly to the establishment basically functioning as a high end brothel, and accordingly, they shut Scores down. For a while, it looked like a lot of strippers would have to find other ways to pay rent, a lot of lonely men would have to find affection somewhere else, and a lot of rappers would have to find a new place to ‘make it rain.’ But it turned out that the shutdown wasn’t so much a death knell as a temporary break…
Real estate mogul Robert Gans already owns the Penthouse Executive Club on West 45th Street, but apparently that has only whetted his appetite for further strip club ownership. reports “Property records show that Mr. Gans paid $9.58 million for the 10,000 square foot venue.” The original asking price was rumored to be substantially more, in the ballpark of $40 million, but hey, in case you haven’t heard, we’re in the middle of a recession. The acquisition appears to be a pretty shrewd business move for Gans, because $9.58 million is “nearly half a million dollars less than prior owners Richard Goldring Elliot Osher shelled out for the building in 2004.”
Everyone from Mario Lemieux to Owen Wilson used to party here, so of course the club is eager to get back to its salad days; marketing director Jennifer Goldman says “It’s a Vegas experience for the high end nightclub crowd, bringing back the heyday of Scores from back in the day…” It remains to be seen whether or not Gans can restore Scores to its former glory, but if last night’s pre-opening party is any indicator, he’s well on his way. The lavish and ultra-exclusive debut can only be described as a success, so it looks like this wounded bird may be set to fly again. If, like most New Yorkers, you didn’t get an invite to last night’s pre-opening, you have your chance to make it rain while simultaneously becoming a part of strip club history at tonight’s grand opening of the revamped Scores.

Or is that boobness? I got a call from my pal Richie Romero, who is a marketing director at the new on 28th Street, around 8 p.m. last night as I was walking my dogs. “Have you written tomorrow yet?” he asked. My mind immediately went to that mural of Joe Strummer east of Avenue A on 7th Street which says, “The future is unwritten,” so I said, “No.” He told me to grab my camera and run over to him at the joint. I felt like Jimmy Olsen; I got the Canon out () and changed my shirt as he promised the entire staff was there, and I am still single, and it was a Monday night, and the agenda till then was a book with a Gossip Girl interlude.

of fame was hired to redo the old and make it grand, and . Jennifer Goldman, director of marketing (I think I met four of those) was gushing like a new mother about the joint. I asked her about the club, and she told me in about 10,000 words how beautiful it was. Her first sentence: “It’s a Vegas experience for the high-end nightclub crowd, bringing back the heyday of Scores from back in the day.” Her last sentence: “Look, they even put in grommets—grommets on the chairs!”
I got a word in and asked if the economy was bringing a different type of person looking for employment. “A stripper is a stripper, and that hasn’t changed,” she said. “It’s hard to tell if the economy is bringing more of them to New York, as the business is seasonal and the Florida girls naturally migrate north with the weather.” She also pointed out that “bachelor party season is starting and that brings the girls to New York—it follows retail.” She gushed about the pink and blue runway, which I referred to as a magic carpet, and the place went wild. Owner Bob Gans, a real down-to-earth gentleman, liked it, and let’s see if I made history. Jennifer felt (along with everyone else in management) that this place is nice enough to function as a club even if it wasn’t a strip joint. I’m teasing her, as she is quite sharp and brings class as well as an enthusiasm, which will ensure success. Director of marketing Ronnie Sherman told me “the city is ready for a place like this.” I agree. I asked him if they were biting their nails a few months back when the economy was tanking; he nodded a yes, but told me he felt that the upswing is perfect for the opening of this new place.
Will Savarese gave me a copy of his “New American” menu, which will be available until 3:30 a.m. Will did wonders at Le Cote Basque (now ). He was raving about his al torchio pasta with dried duck sausage, and for a minute my mind wandered from the 50 or so beauties who were having their orientation. One of the managers, a savvy woman who has seen a few things, yelled, “You know we’re all not going to get along, but we’re all here for the same reason—to make money!” There were 200-plus employees and lots of recognizable management types telling them how it works, while upper-tier execs listened in. Top management, top designer, top chef, topless girls—seems like a winning formula to me.
Scores New York will have a pre-opening party hosted by Strategic Group tonight, followed by the grand opening on Wednesday.

^^^ arguably, the Scores reopening was THE motivating factor for the 'hasty' introduction of the New York State Exotic Dancer ( sex performer ) Registration bill ... discussed in another thread. The provisions / consequences of this new bill could drastically alter the old Scores topless alcohol strip club business model, and could drastically reduce profit potential for both Scores owners and Scores dancers.

Scores West has reopened with the Marquee kids running the launch party. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Jason Strauss and Noah Tepperberg rounded up the promotional All-Stars, stole Rich from Tenjune and put on the classiest strip show I've seen in a while. Although the open bar was a bit hard to get to and the hors d'oeuvres were gone before the server even left the kitchen, the venue has seen significant changes. The dancers, waitresses and bartenders are all CONSIDERABLY better looking. This place may stand a fighting chance this time around. I'm hearing their liquor license is only good until 2am but I'm sure Jason and Noah have other things to worry about.

Like planning the party for that guy Marc Jacobs slept with/is sleeping with. I don't know if it's Jason, Lorenzo or someone else. He'll be the guy in the birthday hat or suit. Who knows with these people. He's throwing his party at Avenue and it's the first big party I've heard about happening at this place. I can't wait to check it out. I'm sure it will be beautiful.

Much like The Gates, which is phenomenal. I'm impressed with Michael James. Not only did he put a club on 25th and Eighth, but this club has carpet. CARPET. The chandeliers give the venue great light, the walls are gorgeous and the carpet is surprisingly still clean. Allison Parris showed off her fabulous new line there last night and her crowd was BEAUTIFUL. Her star is definitely on the rise and I would LOVE to get my hands on one of her frocks.

Maybe she can send me one to wear to the Gansevoort this weekend. Richie Romero and posse are throwing a brunch party there on Saturday and Sunday. Attention Merkato, Bagatelle and Hudson Terrace: you have been served!

Unlike my friends and I at last night's T-mobile party. The sidekick is now 3G (way to be on the slow train T-mobile). Although we were on the list, (kudos to Shaun Rose) someone forgot to give us wristbands so there was no open bar for us. Whatever, I was just ordering drinks and walking away. Someone hired DJ Mom Jeans (a.k.a. Danny Masterson a.k.a. Hyde from That 70s Show) to DJ the party and you're worried about me drinking too much cheap champagne? The rooftop party was much better than the one indoors and the vibe was great. Until this bitchy bartender started yelling at me about not paying for the free champagne. Well I pretty much stood there with a WTF? look on my face, left him a $5 bill and walked away.

He should turn that sucker into singles and get himself a lap dance. I hear Scores West is open again.
