If you're a whore, then keep it on the streets, we have enough hookers in the clubs taking our money![]()

you can be an escort without being on the streets. just do not do in the strip club i think that is cheap to take clients outside of the club and service them.

Not cool... even with the smilie at the end.
Vivianna, generally speaking most clubs don't do background checks, so chances are that it won't be an issue. However, I'm not sure if you need a license in New Orleans. If you do need a license then chances are the city will run a background check on you and may not issue you a license based on the prostitution charge. Your best bet is going to be to call a few clubs and see if a license is required to dance there.
Doing extras in the clubs is not appreciated by the other staff members, nor is taking customers out of the club. However even if you don't provide extras or solicit for outside of the club, that doesn't mean you can't get in trouble. Sometimes simple laws are broken because the dancer was unaware of them or not paying attention. Be sure to research the laws in your area so that you don't get mixed up in a legal battle and end up with another prostitution charge.

I dunno about the laws in LA but I had a very minor criminal charge (like disorderly conduct or something) on my record and then five years later it stopped me from getting a job at an insurance company. I had it espunged by filling out a form (I had never before or since been in trouble) so try to find out about getting it off your record all together (reducing the charge is prolly not gonna make a difference, prostitution is a misdeamenor anyway)

too add not all escorts are prostitutes , some entertain as if it is a private party....i have worked for an agency for 3 years never have i even do a lap dance..i do shows....i know to many escorts are prostitutes but not all....just wanted to clarify.
"I need a Win Dixie grocery bag full of money right now to the vip section...."
i forgot to add....i disagree with anyone bringing their advertising for even legit escorting into a club to take clients.....you just dont do that, club is the club and as an escort i work through an agency and our clients call us, not on referalls from girls at clubs, as far as we know. however, most guys in clubs looking for escorts think sex so they wouldnt want to deal wtih this agency if they were looking for sex.

I've never heard of a club running a background check on dancers in New Orleans. You don't need any kind of dancer license here either. I've also never once in 12 years heard of a club being raided here. You should be fine.
That said, if you ever DO decide to escort again, please don't do it in our clubs.

Jesus Christ, bag all over her just because she asked if a prior charge is going to hurt her chances of dancing. Some of you really need to drop the holier than thou shit, she never said she was going to try to hook or "escort" in the club. If money is that bad for you all, then maybe you need to figure out what you're dong wrong instead of going on witch hunts.

You know, I really do feel bad that you got shit all over in this thread. (Not by everyone, there was some good information too.)
Something that you need to realize is that for the most part, strippers hate hookers, and hookers hate strippers. Porn stars give and recieve their own hate too, it's all bullshit and hypocrisy at it's finest. Plenty of people rise above it but the majority don't.
Now, strippers have a right to dislike hookers working in the club, but beyond that it just becomes a peronal issue. I've worked both sides of the fence, and the things that each group says about the other are downright ridiculous.
When you do start dancing, don't tell anyone what you used to do, they'll jump to conclusions just like many of the ladies have here. You can probably get it expunged, but I can't tell you how, I just know that a friend of mine did it in Utah. I wish I could be of more help.
The judgement is ridiculous though, I've worked with strippers who will bitch about hookers constantly, but then on a slow desperate night, they'll start selling sexual favors for prices that would have made me laugh in the face of the guy who tried to lowball me back when I was hooking. Just rise above it, and don't feel bad about your past. I don't think there's a damn thing wrong with selling sex as long as one understands that there is a time and a place.

I found the infomation I thought would be helpful. I have a clear criminal record, and when I was breifly in the strip clubs, others would offer "extras" but I would stay in the club that long to really experiecne the stripper life style.
For me it was being a webcam model, and escorting , and creating online porn websites. You will have to move on to your future and leave your past your past. You can start off fresh it will just take some work to do.
I am currently in school and even to go back to school for me has been a bit of a challenge but I know in the end it will be worth it.

Pretty much anything you decided to do outside of the sex industry will do a background check, I am taking a course at everst college right addicitoun and community service worker, and lucky for me I do not have anything on my record. but before the couse even started I have to follow a few health requirements for the course before i even get into a career as a addiction counsellor.
Do whatever you can to get your criminal record clean.

Maybe you should go straight to the source and speak to the HR person at a hospital. You could just tell them what happened, and that you want to start nursing school, and ask them if they think the prostitution thing will affect you being able to get a job.
I have a friend who is a nurse here. She's out of town right now, but when she gets back, I will ask her if she can an HR person at her hospital about it. If she doesn't want to ask herself, then maybe she can get me the contact info of someone that you can talk to. She used to be a stripper, and she got some crap about it in nursing school, so I'm sure she will be sympathetic.

Vivianna, contact the Louisiana state board of nursing, there's a form (I can't remember what its called) you can submit to them explaining your situation, and based on your individual situation, you may or may not be able to get accepted into a nursing program. Have you taken your pre reqs and your HESI yet? Going through the process with the form takes a while (like up to a year from my understanding) so I would start on that immediately. I have a DWI and am trying to get into nursing, and it's difficult but possible.
Hello Chitownchick,
I had a question about this. You said you have worked for an agency where you work it like a private party. I am interested in an agency that is similar. I answered an ad of theirs stating they are looking for dancers who are professional and dependable They also stated that any females that are looking to engage in sexual acts this job is not for them. The agency also provides and pays for the drivers if one is needed. When I checked the website out it says adult entertainers/escorts/ and companions. I called the agency and they said it is one on one. I told them that I do not and would not do anything legal that would be prostitution and they said that is not a problem there are many girls that dont do that. I said I just dont want the clients to be under that impression.
Now it sounds like this is similar to what you do. If so how do u handle or what do you tell the clients in this situation once you arrive when you work for an agency such as this? Any insight would be grateful as I would like to do this, but don't want to get in a situation where the men think it was gonna be more.
Thanks,
Tabatha

Well, if this helps, my friend had a misdemeanor expunged online. She did have to pay a court fee & show up in court (no lawyer required). It cost about 300.00 + the court fee. They did allow her to make a couple payments on it. I can't remember the site, but she did a search & found it. Good luck to you, if I remember the site I'll post it here.

Jesus. Judgmental much? You know that there are alot of people out there who think girls that strip are whores. How would you feel to have that label thrown at you? Doubt you would like it very much.
If your comment doesnt relate to the Posters question then why dont you keep your negative ass attitude to yourself?

Thanks for the advice!!!![]()

Prostitution isn't mentioned in the list of offenses for which you would be denied a license?

No no no no!!! Do NOT go for this angle, because people talk, and there are way too many people who are close-minded. Some might give lip-service to your face "Ooooo, that's so wonderful that you want to turn your life around and give yourself a fresh beginning," but then just like in the clubs, gossip happens and you might wind up with some people who think "once a hooker, always a hooker."
And I don't think I've heard many hookers say bad things about strippers. At least not in my company.
