    Default Car Question??

Ladies and Gents, someone who is good with cars please help me out.

So I drive a Nissan, I'm not going to post on here what model but it is a sedan not a truck and is newish. LOL (trying to protect my privacy). Anyway I pulled up and scraped it on a parking stone one too many times and now the plastic flap that covers the underside of the engine is hanging down. I know that all I need is new clips but if I go to the dealership they will screw me, so sorry for posting this question on a website about SC I just figured someone could help me.

What are these "clips" actually called and where may I procure them?

    Thanks!

If you go in alone yes they will screw you unless you show them you know what you are talking about. You can most likely reattach it without having to get OEM parts.

I would look through a such Nissan parts seller or look for a maintenance manual for your car and that should have the name and part number. You can buy the part online or at a dealership.

It snaps into the bumper in the front and the subframe in rear. I don't know the technical name, but it is a shield. The snap on piece is a few bucks from the dealer or a couple bucks from an auto parts store.

The piece is a type of snap clip. It goes in the hole then you push the piece in so it locks. Do not waste your money on a dealer installing it. It takes like a couple seconds (my sis does this all the time in her Altima). It takes me longer to get down on the ground then to put it in.

BTW front two are different size then the rears.I would go with the dealer because it is a cheap part (3 bucks) .

The piece is called a push-type retainer. It looks like these. http://northlandfasteners.biz/Store/index.php?cPath=37

On the link the other person linked to, on this page, for my sis's car, it is the first two parts.

    http://www.courtesyparts.com/altima-...06-c-4032.html

Looks like their prices are for bulk.

EDIT: The larger ones are for the rear.

The part that is hanging is called a fascia, use that word and a repair shop will know not to mess with you. If you intend to keep running over parking barriers you should use a nut, bolt and washer to reattach the fascia; brass would be best.

The part is the engine splash guard, not the fascia.

DO NOT REPLACE THE PLASTIC FITTINGS WITH STEEL BOLTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you do, the next time you drive too far over a barrier, when you start backing up, it will not budge. That means you will be replacing the engine splash guard and maybe even the fascia. (I still call the bumper cover 'the bumper', however, only the bumper is the bumper and the part that covers it is called a fascia. The front two push-type retainers hook into the fascia.)

It's just flapping around because the car rides a little low and a lot of those STUPID parking stones grind it just so to let the tires come up but not scratch or harm the undercarriage. Thanks so much you guys I know it seems petty but I'm not good with car stuff and don't really have a good mechanic and tend to get ripped off because of my looks, which sucks because home repairs (hardware) I'm good, at least I can do somethings on my own! Thanks Thanks Thanks!

If you can handle home repairs, you can handle this. Don't think of it as 'car stuff', think of it as putting a 'screw' in place or plugging a hole. You can dooooo it.
