Smiley I am the strongest woman in my gym!

I'm in such an awesome mood right now! I've been training with weights seriously since September and today the trainer at my gym told me that he's never seen a woman in our gym lift that much. That felt really good.

It's just nice to hear someone else recognize how hard you've worked for something. I'm only up to benching 35lb. dumbbells, but hey, that's more then I see a lot of MEN doing in our gym.

I'm on cloud nine right now. That was so cool.

    That's cool.

(Although I have to admit, not seeing a lot of men being able to bench 35lb dumbells, is kind of sad. That's basically the standard universal bar with 12.5 lbs on each side. LOL)

My best friend in college was a gym rat. She had run track in HS, and was stronger than a lot of the guys, especially newbies. She especially used to love to go up to a guy who was using a machine, and then sweetly ask if she could work in. When he said, "yes", she would then proceed to move the pin down several weight slots. LOL. It was wickedly funny to watch her completely emasculate those poor fools.

Anyway, keep up the great work!

About your friend, that is hilarious! Yeah, it is sad how little a lot of these guys lift. I've gotten dirty looks from guys before for being in "man territory" (they usually don't stick around long) right before they started their military press with 10s...

I wish there were other women around me who actually lifted, but hey, I don't mind being the best, you know, if I have to be. LOL

Congrats! Even at my strongest, 25lb. dumbbells was the absolute best I could do, and only 4 reps at that. With a spotter. On a good day. Just to inflate your ego more, I was a hard core gym rat. Hitting the gym 4 days a week minimum for years.

I agree it's funny, but, as someone who did not used to work out, it sucks when you're the one that gets one-upped (although I don't recall a woman changing the weight to higher than me).

My wife is the same way; she lifts relatively heavy weights. I think she lifts more than our trainer (a woman as well) does.

Congratulations! I love one upping the men on the leg machines!! Esp. when a guy comes over while I'm loading the bars and offers to help me move all those heavy plates off the machine. No, jackass, I'm ADDING weight. I can't wait to be able to do enough chin ups to beat them there too.

that's so awesome! it's gotta be liberating being able to just smirk when a guy calls you sweetie or honey and then proceeding to load up the weights and show everyone up!

    Thanks, you're all so sweet!

And yes Paris, that did inflate my ego even more, so thank you, lol. 4 days a week minimum is where I'm at now, and I think it's keeping me sane

vmurphy, I would never one up someone just to make them feel bad, but I do get a kick out of watching people with attitude problems have that happen to them. It seems like some gym newbies come in thinking they know it all, then they either get humbled and turn into pretty decent people, or they just stop coming in.

Cool. I'm definitely not the cocky guy.

It is very cool that you're doing that well. Congratulations.

Damn, I bet you are RIPPED. Your post motivates me to get off my ass and go to the gym. Congrats on your buffness! I bet that upper body strength allows you to do some wicked pole work, too.
