    Default Dance Tips

I've been reading the boards for almost 2 weeks now and have decided I'm going to give stripping a go. There are 3 clubs that I am interested in auditioning for and, if you have a Studio Veena account, I'm wondering what you think of these moves:

    A couple of minutes ^^^

    Fairly Short ^^^

I don't plan on auditioning until about 3wks from now and plan on learning those moves and some of the one's in this vid. during that time. Additionally, any thread/web/general suggestions would be appreciated as I'd like to learn some moves that will be useful for my audition and while working in general.

I dont think you need to worry too much about getting a bunch of special moves down for your audition- just smile and look pretty good, and act sexy and slow, touch yourself a lot. Especially if you've never done this before, they're probably not going to expect a lot from you. I watched that last video and I feel like I don't know half the floor moves she does!

Being a good dancer is only a minor fraction of what the job entails now... A lot of stage time is spent flirting, talking to customers, and accepting tips- and most of your shift is spent hustling offstage, being a saleswoman. I'd suggest focusing more on honing your social and selling skills if you want to make more money, and perfect your stage routine a little later on in your dancing career.

I also heard that it's not very good working in Connecticut, not sure if that's true or what, but just from the few instances I've heard from other people.

The only video I could watch was the Alena Downs one--and I must say I am really impressed! I've never seen that kind of floorwork in any of the clubs i've worked at. It was almost like stripper breakdancing at times. Really cool.

The best thing you can do to prepare is to go into the clubs you're planning to audition at. I think you might be surprised to find the minimal effort that some girls put into their stage shows. Though it is nice to have a few moves down, it's true that you really don't have to do anything more than smile and get naked and sway around all slow and sexy. The rest you can learn on the job.

    good luck!

I'm very familiar with Alena and her floor work is really good. I can't see the other videos. Honestly, as long as you can get up on stage, take off your clothes, look decent, and don't freeze up you'll pretty much be hired. Don't sweat it.

Thanks ladies, guess I just gotta go for it then. Hopefully I can work out getting to visit a stripclub before I audition so I can get a visual idea of what I'll have to do/expect (pretty much all the clubs I know of are 21 and over).

How old are you? Do you know what type of club it is that you are auditioning at? i.e top tier or local joint? YouTube has videos from inside some clubs.

    ^^^
I'll be 20 next month and there are 2 local topless clubs & 1 nude gentleman's club (seemingly top tier) that I may audition at at.

I'd look at youtube videos, but I'm not sure what would be considered realistic....could you refer me to any?

Just for reference here is the difference between a top tier and a the local joint. The top tier generally are not nude. They serve alcohol and meals, and the dancers are generally only allowed to wear gowns and not allowed to actually get on the floor, so it's more posing while standing. A local joint the dancers show as much skin as possible while on the floor - so bikini top and a skirt or even just a g-string. The girls at local joints can normally get on the floor.

Do you have websites for the clubs you are looking at?

Oh, ok. I thought top tier = popular and at least slightly upscale....off to read up on SW terminology.

I did some reading up on the clubs I was thinking of auditioning at and have changed my mind about all save one.

Now I'm considering Mr.Happy's, which may be a dive but w/e, and Rockstar/Hollywood.

The best way you can get ready to audition is to go to the club as a customer first. I have no idea why girls dont do this? Ive done this with EVERY club Ive worked at and Ive been dancing 7 years. I would never just run into a club and audition without knowing anything about it.

Kylea is right about this. I would also add that top tier clubs have champagne rooms, and not all mid-tier/dives do. In addition, top tier clubs tend to be frequented by businessmen/convention attendees--people with money. A lot of times you have to have a more Barbie-ish look. A couple of the top-tier clubs in my area-- Penthouse and Rick's--seldom hire girls with tattoos.

Neither one looks like a top tier club, so you'll probably be safe with bikini top/short skirt combos and short dresses.

After reading the reviews from customers online I would suggest going with Rockstar/Hollywood. It looks like the dancers their don't pay too much attention to the customers, which makes it even easier for you to hustle dance because you won't have competition. Also, I didn't see any photos of Mr. Happys, but Rockstar/Hollywood looks decent.

Intuitively, I totally agree with you. Unfortunately, the SC's I'm considering are all 21 and over and I'm not even 20 yet. I figure they'll let me stop by if I say I'm interested in auditioning but I've got a little while to go before that's true.

So, since I'm positive I'll be auditioning in a few weeks and don't really have much to do with my time till then, I thought it would be worth while to learn some moves. That's all.

I have no intention of just reading stuff here and then diving head first into an audition .

Just an FYI, when I first started I was working at a 21+ club and I wasn't even close to being 21. Sometimes they will hire dancers that are 18-20 and put a wristband on them to let the staff know not to serve them alcohol.

The club Im at is 21+ but you only have to be 18 to dance there. There is a list in the dressing room and at the bar with the names of the girls that are 18-20 so they cannot get drinks. Im sure they'll let you come in and check it out. Just go there and say you're interested in/thinking about dancing and wanted to check out the club? But I guess you can just do that when you go to get hired - ask to watch for a short while... good luck!
