    Default Epilator?

I'm soo beyond sick of shaving and the hassle of self waxing thanks to being on a budget, so I've been thinking about investing in an epilator but I have no clue what's good and what's not. I've looked thru past threads but wasn't sure if there's anything newer or better out there now.

    Any suggestions?

The emjoi is really great! I've had mine for about 6 years and it still works perfectly! You have to get used to it, the first time I used it (on my arm), I teared up, but it's no worse than waxing, and soooo much faster than tweezing. I use it for everywhere, except my eyebrows and "sideburns". I'm pretty fuzzy and when I use this, I stay smooth for about two weeks. The best thing is that you can use it while you watch a movie (just stay on a towel). Hope it helps and if anyone knows what works on "sideburns" (it's just fuzz, but it's black fuzz) pleae give me the heas up. I wax it, but it causes bumps and I shae it, but I hate doing that.

There's something called sugaring, & they sell kits for it @ Ulta. I'm not sure how it works exactly, but I thinking of trying it.
I have an Emjoi, but couldn't use it on underarms, bikini line. Nooo, too painful. I do use it on my arms/legs.

^^^ I've heard of that as well and would be a lot more likely to try that.

I bought an epilator a few years ago... yeah - it was like a one night stand. I did it once, it left me with red bumps and crying - and I never did it again!

Which reminded me of, my bf @ the time, when I got it, he put it to his FACE! His knees buckled from the pain!

I've heard the newer ones don't hurt as much?

I have a Braun silk epil ice thingymajig and it rocks! I havent shaved my legs in 2 years and i swear they arent as hairy. I got my legs waxed a few times before using it though and it seemed less painful. It does hurt but for only like a minute then your skin numbs to it. I'm thinking of getting my legs waxed a couple of times as im gettin a few ingrowns so i figured id take a break from it.

Ohhhh yes it IS too painful to use on bikini area!

I have the Braun Silk-epil, it is good and I use it on my legs but I always wax underarm and bikini; I suppose you could use it on the very outer bikini areas but for a Brazilian or similar I really doubt that would be even close to bearable!

I agree^^^^^ I can JUST use it on the outer bikini area then it gets too painful, wouldnt dare do my underarms with it.
A little off topic but how painful is it to wax underarms?

Well, are you talking about an at home product or salon? I used Parissa cold wax strips, it hurt (kinda) was messy.
I'm going to start a thread asking about sugaring..

I tried a cheap epilator and it just broke off half the hairs and ripped out the others, ouch! Thanks for the advice on the Braun...going out to get one.

I use Nair microwave wax, there are no strips involved, you just flick the wax up at one end and use that to pull it off, it's very good stuff once you practise a couple of times and I worked out is about 10 percent of the cost of going to get a salon hot wax! Underarms don't hurt too bad, less than with the epilator.

I would suggest to just get waxed. Its much faster and hurts less. I wax and if there are any hairs left over i get them with my epilator.

Ditto!!! This is the best wax ever!!! Way better than any Sally Hansen product.
