Dizzy when reality walks through the door...

a while back me and this dancer were having a pretty fun conversation (joking, laughing, drinking ). so after a while i ask what her most embarrassing situation was while working and she blew me away with this story ...

while on stage on a busy Saturday night, this dancer noticed a guy who had just come up to the tip rail with a stack of bills in his hand. naturally she makes her way towards him and starts shaking her ass, bending over, doing the spread eagle, etc. keep in mind this club is very dark so its hard to see faces. the whole time this guy is shouting things like "oh yea honey work it!" and "show me what your momma gave ya!" but he was tipping pretty well so she didnt seem to mind. after her set was done she went around collecting her tips and when she came up close to this guy she made a horrible discovery. this old perverted man was HER FUCKING UNCLE! thats right, her MOMS BROTHER! he didnt recognize her because of all the makeup and the wig, plus no one in her family knows that she dances. she didnt take the money and made a quick exit towards the dressing room. she said her heart was pounding, a rush of hot/cold feelings went over her and had a hard time breathing almost to the point of passing out. everything was spinning she said , lol. needless to say she went home right after that and couldnt work for 2 weeks because of the shock. she ended up changing clubs to one further away. to this day, its really difficult for her to attend family functions.

so im curious to know if this kind of experience has happened to any of you girls. where "real life" catches up with you at work.

    Wow! That sounds so traumatic
    Poor girl... I would die!!!!

Nothing like that has ever happened to me cuz my whole family live in another country but a couple of my friends have gone thru similar situations... I guess when u try to keep dancing a secret u really should pick the club that's on the other side of the city.

LOL - She "blew you away" with that story? The longer you hang out in SCs the more accustomed you'll become to stories like that, and will likely even witness a few things in person.

i dont know, that one seems to take the cake. the only other situation i can think thats worse would be her father showing up instead.

There are lots of these stories floating around honestly.

That sounds horrible. There is more than just a mere stigma attached to this profession; there is a real risk involved in this profession. There is no such thing as easy money.

ROFL, I tell that story. I also tell the one about the time I was walking across the club and some asshole smacked my ass so hard that it hurt. I turned around to yell at him and it was *gasp* MY COUSIN!!!!!!

Neither of those things ever happened to me, but guys seem to find the stories incredibly entertaining, and hey, that's what I'm there for afterall...

I didn't dance in front of him and he didn't recognize me, but it was still pretty awful. I saw him almost immediately when I got on stage and jumped - in 6 inch heels - off a 3 foot stage, hit the ground running, and hid behind the jukebox. Then I just cried.

Fortunately he was toasted and, not expecting to see me there, never realized that the crazy wacked-out dancer who flew off stage was his daughter.

It's never happened to me but I'd be mortified if I ran into my only uncle in a strip club that I was working at.

    You're dad? Holy shit.

    OH MY GOD!!!

My mom told me that my dad used to go to stripclubs all the time in LA, so yeah, I'm glad I work on the East Coast. If I saw my dad/uncles at work I would definitely freak out, and probably cry too, hahha

*BUMP* sorry, was digging thru the old posts when I found this. I want to add one: I was dancing on the day shift, its DEAD as hell, and I go on stage from the dressing room. I see my best friend's dad!! OMG I ran and hid in the back and tried to be low key on stage when he was there... I didn't know what to do so I just waited in the back till he left. I still don't know if he comes in the club.
His family is ultra-catholic too. mass every sunday... etc.
    - I never told my friend because I figured it was a one time thing. But it still creeps me out..

MM's dad saw her in a club a while back. He promptly left the club, called her, and said "Next time you change clubs, please tell me so I don't go to the one you work at without knowing it again", lol.

I'm lucky cause any of my blood family will never set foot in a strip club cause of being too cheap and lazy... also cause they can't play video game there.. But I did have a friend see me once at a club.

I was on stage paying more attention to the music that the cheap creeps trying to grab me with no dollar in hand and I saw him.. I stopped in mid-spin and looked right at him and he was looking right at me. The only one even making the oh shit face was the bartender.. Well my friend just walk right out and I kept on dancing. After my set the bartender asked me where I got my balls cause if he was looking at him like that he would of ran for the hills. I know my friend doesn't go to clubs for fun so he was probably looking for someone and got a eyeful of me instead.

As a customer, I've run into former students either waitressing or dancing in clubs. After some initial awkwardness, we'd subsequently just acknowledge each other when our paths crossed. I was always viewed by my students as one of the most "real" teachers to use their terminology. I would never do a dance or visit a former student at the stage because in my mind's eye they were still the HS student i knew.

I have also provided cover for dancers who've seen people enter the club they'd rather not be seen working in. That cover consisted of anything from going for a dance to having her bury her face in my chest to conceal her identity.

This is why I almost always danced at least a half hour away. The closest I've come to this is I saw a guy who worked with my dad once in a club from a distance. I doubt he recognized me though.

Funny you should say that. I used to visit a club an hour and a half from my place in RI. Got to talking with a couple of girls who danced there who said they just moved from one town in RI to another. They identified the town they moved from (same one I live in), named the neighborhood they lived in (same one as mine), named the main street nearest their house (same one nearest my house), named the street (same street I live on). They then gave their house number. I asked them how they got along with their landlord Joe, their jaws hit the ground. I lived right across the street. I had no specific recollection of them but they said they really liked the dogs i had. LOL. Just goes to show you, you never know.

When I first started dancing my now ex boyfriend's sister ( whom I am very close friends with) came into my club with her best friend. I actually ended up dancing for him and then saw her while I was on stage after the fact, while it was weird for me what was weirder was that I was the only one who thought the situation was odd.

The weirdest thing though was I had an old regular of mine who was a former nursing professor of mine, he told me he always thought I was sexy when I was in his class and was so happy I was a dancer and he could see me, while I was flattered ( he was a very good looking man) I found it somewhat strange especially being as he was in his 50's and I was 22.

I had to leave a club once because the girl I used to tutor in high school was nude on stage, while I am bi-sexual and do appreciate a beautiful woman ( which she definitely is) it was too close for comfort.

I personally think a customer is a customer but there are those occasions that makes me blush.
