Default costume jewelry and sensitive skin

Does anyone have any tips for finding costume jewelry or stripper bling for those of us that are allergic to nickel? I love it, but I don't feel like having rashes around my neck, etc just for looking shiny for a night.

Even if anyone has any tips on how to treat the back of the metal so that this will be avoided, i'd be appreciative.

do you have a mall near you with Claire's or Icing stores? I haven't been to one (or a mall) in ages, so I hope they're still in business, haha, but I do remember both of them having a lot of costume jewelry labeled "nickel-free" for sensitive ears and skin.

I heard you can paint the back of some jewelry with nail polish to protect sensitive skin from metal allergies.

Go to an Indian costume jewelry store and see if they have costume jewelry that's plated in real silver or gold but is mad affordable and usually really gorgeous.

I haven't found any necklaces that agree w/my skin yet. I usually alternate when I wear chokers. If I'm not wearing a rhinestone choker, I'll wear a rhinestone bracelet, which doesn't cause a reaction.

What about using Teflon, as opposed to nailpolish? It'll be clear, and you won't have to worry about the nailpolish seeping through or discoloring anything. You might be able to coat the whole thing, too, depending on the piece of jewelry.

Edit: Actually, is it a Teflon-product I'm thinking of..? It's that tough, clear base you put on your nails after you paint them. I think that's what it is.
