    Default Ugh.. cold remedies?

So, I was supposed to work tonight (well, sorta, they said when I get back from a brief vacation in a couple weeks, I can make a normal schedule, but until then I can come in whenever I want.. which I thought was pretty nice!) but since Monday, I've been tied down with a vicious cold. As much as I really want to work tonight, I don't want to be the pioneer of the patented "Sudafed-induced-faceplant-off-of-a-pole-ungraceful-unconscious-drooling-on-the-stage" trick while wearing nothing but a thong. (Although, I'm SURE there's someone out there that gets off on such a thing!)

What do you ladies do to encourage sickness to go away? I want to get back to work ASAP!

So far, I've been drinking lots of water, chugging herbal and red teas, taking Sudafed, drowning in hot showers, shoving Vaseline up the nose, inhaling a variety of vitamins, and resorted to gnawing on some raw garlic this morning. My cats have been helpful in Neck Massage Therapy and Body Warmth Regeneration, but there's only so much they can do.

I've only worked two days, but I am DYING to get back there. I had so much fun my last shift, and I want them to know I want to be a dedicated employee! I'm so pissed I got bogged down with a cold so soon!

Zicam cold lozenges. The quick dissolve tablets. They work MIRACLES. Also, they don't mess with your head like Dayquil.

Also, old school alka seltzer, orange flavor. And try putting eucalyptis oil in your bath.

    Hope you feel better!

Recently I've found that heat pads on the back of my neck seem to really help bring my body temperature up so I "sweat out" the cold.

I also use garlic oil in my ears, and eat a lot of onions and broth. I stay away from anything dairy when I'm sick.

Tylenol Rapid Release pills and Nyquil work wonders for me too.

Ooh, Zicam! I forgot about that.

And onions, mmm, I love onions, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the tips! I hope I can get into work tomorrow night!

I'll agree with Zicam. Do that. It's very well worth it.

I came down with a wicked cold about a week or so ago and Theraflu packets worked well for me. I used the night time formula which cleared up my sinuses enough to sleep through the night and continued to keep my sinuses in check the next day.

The tabs that dissolve in the shower (suda care shower tabs I think). When I am sick nothing makes me feel better than those and some thera-flu after I get out.

I stupidly shared a drunken cigarette with my friend who was very sick the other day (he had a bad cough/cold) - the next morning I woke up feeling like hell. I read up on Zicam nasal gel and tried it - I don't know if it was that, or all the sleep I've been getting, but I didn't get sick at all! I just felt that "cold coming on" feeling that morning and then was back at it. Dunno how much better/worse than the lozenges the gel is, but it worked for me!

So I lucked out and got in to see a doctor, and I was given an antibiotic. She said it's possible I'm developing an ear infection. D: Before I even went though, I called the club and spoke to a manager and explained what was going on. He was pretty nice about it, reaffirming that I'm new and understands people get sick, but in the future, they require doctor's notes. So I got one, and dropped it off, leaving it with a bartender who said she'd give it to him (he was in a meeting), so I hope that's okay. I'm leaving on the 4th for about ten days out-of-state (something that was told to them when I first started) so I really hope this doesn't look bad. They seem pretty understanding and nice at the club, so I just hope I'm not screwing myself up here!

I did some Zicam, hot tea (forgot to buy lemons though, dammit!) and zinc lozenges. I just hope these pills work, so I can get in some work before I leave.
