    Default outdoor workouts

so, i just moved to a new city. i don't want to spend the cash on a gym membership while it's summer and there's a great park nearby.
i've been running one mile, doing lunges and push ups. anyone else work out outside? any advice or tips? I'm looking to tone and tighten up! what are your secrets?

Pull-up on the monkey bars, or just work your way across them. Hang from them and do ab work . Balance work on any wiggle-walls/balance beams. Step-ups/lunges on the side of roads or steps nearby. Interval runs, especially if there are hills. Crunches and sit-ups (put feet under any steps or on top of steps or balance beam. You can pretend the steps or beam are like a bench and do any work that way. Squats can be done anywhere.

Mix things up - jump rope, roller blades, bike, etc.

Carry a reistance cable with you help vary your exercises, or a towel/mat to stretch and do yoga or pilates.

If you have an open area try some plyometrics.

You can also use park benches for dips.

Since you're going to be outside, don't forget to have plenty of water on you to keep hydrated, and wear sunscreen.

(Just try to resist the urge to practice your pole tricks on the jungle gym. )

Have you tried the couch to 5k plan? I plan on trying that one starting next week, with weight training on every other day. I think it'll be good for my dog, too.

This one looks really hard, but you might want to give it a try:
