Last month I went and got airbrush tanned at a place to which I was referred by a fellow dancer. I took the last appointment, and left town to New Orleans early in the morning. I received an email the next morning from one of the owners saying that I left my sunglasses there and he put them safely behind the counter so I could come get them. Well, I didn't respond (I was super busy), but when I got back into town, about six weeks later I called to inquire about my sunglasses. The same guy who had put them up, Steven, answered and put me on hold while he looked in the back for them. A girl soon picked up the phone and said that he was in an appointment and he would call me back later. I asked her if she had seen them, and she said yes she had, but she wasn't sure where they were now. I said fine, and a day went by with no phone call. I called back and some other guy answered the phone and I gave him the same spiel and he said he didn't know what I was talking about. By this point I am getting really frustrated! These are 500$ Bvlgari sunglasses! I asked if Steven was there and he said yes he was standing right across from him. I said I had waited for his phone call, and the guy put down the receiver and yelled, "Hey Steven this girl is really freaking out come talk to her" in the most mocking douchebag voice. Steven then says, condescendingly, "Sorry sweetie I didn't see them. I've had people fired and hired since then and someone probably took them" WTF????? You said you put them up!!!????? Well, there's nothing I can do sorry I'll call you if I find them.
What would you guys do at this point? Should I write it off, I mean I did wait a long time to respond to his email. Or should I go to the police? I really don't know what to do...
Here's a snippet of the email I just sent him, along with a forwarded copy of the email he had sent me saying he put sunglasses up.
Here is a forward of the message you sent me, I did actually get it when you sent it, but like I said I left town. I don't think it's right that you say you put them up and now all of the sudden they are missing, that just doesn't make sense. I know that I was out of contact for a while, but I feel I've been given the run around, and I'm upset because they were 500$. With that said, I feel like I am owed some sort of compensation. I don't want to make a big deal out of this, and I do know they are scratched and slightly worn. I hope we can come to an agreement about this without going through further legal trouble. Let me know what you think
Do you think I handled this the right way???
