Alright, I've got that certain cities require licensing while others don't because it's a local government thing, not state. But I need to know a few other things for sure.
Can anyone tell me what's legal (and not) in this state?

Exotic dancing is like any other job.If you work in an office, you wear dress shoes and a suit.If you work in a restaraunt, you wear skid resistant shoes and a uniform. If you work in a strip club, you wear 7" stilettos and lycra g-strings.

It varies by city.
San Antonio- Solid Pasties and a halfback
Houston- pasties and booty shorts or bikini bottoms, some clubs don't enforce this but it is a law. No smoking law
Dallas- I've heard you must apply for license, but not sure on pasties or bottoms
Austin- it's been a few years but last time I worked there no laws, except no smoking laws
Dallas - they do a background check (for prostitution, felonies, etc.) and fingerprint you. For each club you work at, you need a NEW fingerprint card. They cost between $20 and $50 depending on which company the club uses.
Alcohol serving clubs are topless only. Nude is BYOB. Most nude clubs out here are "nude optional" meaning the club won't force you to take your bottoms off if you don't want to. I work at a nude club, and I use this as a hustling advantage: i.e. only get nude during VIP.
At my club, you can't touch your tits, pussy, or ass on stage. They fine you for that. During lap dances, you're supposed to keep at least one foot on the floor, but a lot of girls break that rule. Grinding is supposed to be minimal - 2-3 secs at a time.

Thanks so far. I guess the key is to do exactly what is usually advised and visit/call individual clubs to see how they do it, huh?

How long does it take for the background check? So you don't have to actually go to city hall or anything, just the club u want to work in?
I live in Dallas, I got my fingerprints/bg check at some little business building, it has nothing to do with city hall, and the records stay in each individual club. I was able to work the same night at both clubs I did it for. The process depends on how many girls are in line ahead of you.
How is it in dallas right now? Does business slow down considerably during the summer? Thinking of making a trip up there.
I don't work the upscale topless clubs. I only work nude bars here, so this information reflects that:
My club, The Clubhouse, has more girls than I've ever seen there before. Without fail, at least two or three new dancers come EVERY NIGHT THURS-SAT. How many remain after a few days there, I don't know, but there's a lot of influx, and no one is getting fired by management. Over 100 girls on the floor on weekends.
The summer does slow down customer traffic considerably.
My advice is that if you're making $200 a night or more, stay where you are.
