What vitamins or herbs do you ladies take to maintain your looks?

    I take.....

    antioxidants
    green tea pills
    biotin
    apple cider vinegar
cranberry juice/dandelion tea/lemon juice drink (water weight loss)

    I am curious about...

    royal jelly shots
    aloe vera juice
    hyaluronic acid pills

^^^ Does anybody take these? Are there any other suggestions?

    I take:
Multivitamins & Minerals (to cover what I may not get from diet)
    Flaxseed oil (for Omega 3s)
    Liquid Iron supplement(for anaemia)
    Gotu Kola(for circulation/collagen production)
Milk Thistle(very good for aiding liver function and repair & so detoxing, helps eliminate skin condition similar to psoriasis that returns if I stop taking it)
L-Glutamine(for preventing muscle breakdown & maintaining healthy gut)

I use aloe vera externally, I have taken the liquid before as it is meant to be cleansing and good for IBS/leaky gut type symptoms too, but have tried to cut down on the number of supplements i take every day because of cost, I only take things I that I definitely notice make a difference, sometimes it's hard to tell.

Try out pearl powder. The best prices I've got on it per gram were from www.EmperorsHerbologist.com but you can also get a cheap starter set for less than $10 from www.AsiaChi.com

It's high in calcium, protein and amino acids. Alot of girls report a cool, refreshing feeling when they use it, whether it's mixed with rosewater or your moisturizer/lotion for external use or mixed with a drink for internal use.
It's primarily used for skin care, it's supposed to give you a glowing complexion and some claim it lightens the skin slightly. When taken internally, it's clamied to improve and prevent severity of scarring and bruising. Some people even say that it has an effect like lithium (a natural alternative to anti-depressants), only a bit milder.

Food for thought. I plan to buy some from Asia Chi to try out myself.

    I forgot to add....

    high quality fish oils
    curcumin (tumeric root)
alpha lipoic acid - a strong antioxidant, when taken internally reported to give a sense of euphoria or well being.

What is Gotu Kola? Also does anybody take bee pollen?

Gotu Kola is an Asian herb, it has been used for hundreds of years for lots of reasons, I take it because it can be helpful with getting rid of cellulite and also with aiding collagen production and healing...
Actually I said I only take supplements that definitely work for me, this is the only one where I'm not sure if I can see an obvious effect but the claims have got me...maybe if I didn't take it I'd have loads more cellulite, don't wanna find out anyway!

JD I swear we share a posting brain...lol.

    I take:

omega 3/6/9's (Good quality omega's are a must for physical and mental health... not to mention my gut.)
Vit C ester (not regular vitamin c)
    Zinc
    Ginko biloba for my memory
Turmeric is amazing cause it's a natural anti inflammatory and easier on your body than advil

Acai is my newest thing and I'm LOVING it. I got a huge bottle of the liquid supplement at whole foods for about $15 and it's giving me so much energy and I'm starting to lose weight too.

I was taking a liquid B12 for energy but I ended up feeling worse so I gave that up and went to the capsule form which is better.

My secret weapon is Arnica gel on my knees and legs before and after work. Any body part that feels sore gets the gel, or any part that I think might bruise. If I start to feel sore, then I also bust out the Bio Freeze roll on.

I also drink a LOT of detox/regulating teas. The Yogi tea brand is very good, and ANY green tea will help to stimulate weight loss. I'm also a fan of agave nectar rather than other sweeteners - low glycemic index.

Bee pollen is amazing and I can only take it in small doses or I get out of control hyper lol...

^^^^ Hey I thought you were working a double today!^^^^

    Anyways...

So what is the difference between Vit C and Vit C ester?
I'm so going to buy the pearl powder and Gotu Kola.
Also, as for sweeteners, Stevia rules!

I've thought of trying stevia, but I'm a little hesistant. The entire reason I want to move away from standard sugars and high fructose corn syrup is because it's processed. How much processing does stevia go through?

I have no idea.... I always thought it was the best sweetener out right now. It's actually just a sweet herb, from what I understand.

    I take:
    CLA
Omega 3/6/9 (sometimes I switch up and just take flaxseed oil supps)
    Coconut Oil
    Gotu Kola
    Grapeseed Extract
    Milk Thistle
    Horsetail
    Dandelion
MSM (not everyday, about twice a week)
    B Complex (ditto)
    Collagen (ditto)
Biotin(ditto)(the other stuff makes my hair and nails grow also, so this is probably overkill)

I drink my green tea instead of supps.
I also drink a little oolong tea, and sometimes some ginger tea.
    (sweetened with stevia)

    Want to try:
    Acai
    Vit. D
    Hyuralonic Acid
    Bio-Flavenoids

    I have L-Glutamine I think, I haven't used it yet.

I drink Cranberry juice on a regular weekly basis whenever I feel like it.

There may be a couple I'm forgetting..the CLA, Coconut,Dandelion,Green Tea and Milk Thistle are my must-haves.

Right now, I'm mostly stuck on prescription PrenateElites that I got from my sister after she delivered. Because of my current living situation, I can't really eat at a level that I find healthy enough and that really bothers me because I also have a genetic enamel defecency. So I'm taking these high power suckers to supplement!
I take melatonin every few days to sleep also. I fall asleep easy without just falling out like other sleep aids I've tried, and I haven't had any side effects upon waking either.

Other than that, I avoid antibiotics and traditional medicines as much as possible. I believe we have an immune system for a reason and all these modern medicines do nothing but let it weaken while they take care of your problem. If we just keep doing that, we'll keep breeding these superbugs like MRSA and new flu strains.
When I really do feel below the weather and would like an extra boost, I use herbal remedies.

Me too, I try as much as possible to keep it natural and very rarely take medicines or go to the doctor, they always dish out antibiotics straight away for everything and they end up messing you up more long term...

Likewise I try to eat a varied diet as some of the supplements out there may have the right stuff in them but our bodies can't always absorb them in the right way, that's why I cut down the stuff I take, it could just be a waste of money if you are pissing everything out again!

I forgot, I also take Valerian to help me sleep but it has quite a mild effect, I have never tried Melatonin but I am gonna try it soon as my sleep is consistently inconsistent, it's been messed up for years through working totally random hours, and it really affects my mood when I have that irritable just-wanna-sleep-why-wont-everyone-just-leave-me-alone feeling...

JD - I was going to til A: my neighborhood got flooded and B: I smashed the crap out of my toenail. Figured I'd like to not get stranded on the way home. Did you get away from all the flooding ok?
    Also,

Vit C ester (Ascorbyl palmitate) is more easily absorbed (both fat AND water soluble) and less acidic with more Bio flavanoids.

I have terrible trouble with sleeping; have since I was a child. Got hooked on sleeping pills for a little while last year but now I just take melatonin and it's so much better. I have it with a cup of chamomile tea before bed and I wake up feeling rested, not dopey from benzo's.

As for other things I take... at the moment just:

    multivitamin
    melatonin
    vitamin d
    fefol (anaemia)

I'm with katalinda- I've had problems with insomnia and waking up throughout the night since I was a kid. I was always afraid of taking sleep aids because I didn't want to get dependent. But when I read up on melatonin, I felt a bit reassured because it's a chemical that your brain produces naturally. It's also an antioxidant and an immune stimulant.

I just kinda lay down and instead of passing out after so long, I kind of just drift off and actually manage to sleep all through the night!

I love dropping off with that dreamy sleepy feeling and waking up feeling rested and refreshed, I have ordered some Melatonin as you can't buy it over-the-counter in the U.K...
Actually one thing that does always help me with getting a good sleep is wearing an eyemask, and I read that it is due to the darkness stimulating the body's Melatonin, so it all makes sense! Looking forward to trying it!

The fact that melatonin is something that your body produces naturally made me feel way better about taking it. Melatonin is a way better sleeping pills than any of the prescription ones; take it from someone whose tried them all!! I hope that you find something that works for you, antidepressants/sleeping pills are such a bitch to take. I hope melatonin is ok. xo

J.D., if you ordered the little box set from Asia Chi, could you tell me when you get it whether or not the little doseage bottles are able to be reused?
