Default did you know eating turkey does NOT make a person tired or sleepy?

Did you know there was a group of doctors who wanted to make money from marketing ham products for holdays and generally selling it and were set up to believe that turkey makes people tired. So they told them that it does and they set some guy up with soem high tech equipment where they could literally control the guy getting tired and faling asleep to prove how manipulative these people were and how corrupt they were about making money.

Something like they set the guy up to be on live tv and wanted to brag about the technology they were capable of manufacturing.

I dont really get what you mean... they told people turkey makes you tired to try and sell it but really they were using machines to make someone tired and they wanted to prove how clever they were that they could do that with technology?..haha ok that still doesnt make sense

No it is really a joke put out by the video gaming industry. Some guy advertised video games as a kid in a real life version of the truman show and the people who were doing it were just beating the guy up and torturing him. They came up with a concept of screwign the guys head up and then making him feel like an outcast to society and telling him he was "out" and they were "in" to make him paranoid and depressed.

It is why the video gaming industry invented the bowling video game with the rollerball they put in bars. so the guy would learn what a turkey is in relation to bowling.

Also connected to the federal law three strikes and your out.

The people who were doing this "struck" the guy three times and thought they were cool, but they were really being put "out" to pasture.

In bowling four strikes is called a turkey and when you have four strikes you get put to sleep. or in this case the federal interpretation for going to sleep is much more serious. They told these people that eating turkey can make a person go to sleep and the idiots took it for the literal tranlsation and thought they meant it was a great opportunity to market ham competitively against turkey. The joke was that they were just accepting it was time for them to go to sleep for "eating the turkey" for striking a guy four times or more.

Its not that I am such a big marketing guy, I just really sympathize with the guy who was forced into this position.

This guy was set up to be profiled by the news media as a dangerous guy so they could use the story to promote themselves and generate revenues that way as they would use the story or stories to target women to be their fan base. The spin they would put on the story would fool women into thinking that they empathized with women's issues because the guy's mind was really screwed up and it was an easy sales pitch for women to believe he was a perfect throwaway.

The reality is that Hyundai named the Sonata for him in tribute to him NOT being a throwaway or a bad guy at all. ( so nada )

Then Nissan named its sports utility after him the Murano in a play on words for moron. See, some people called him a moron and marketed him as an idiot and a fool so he would be unappealing to women and minorities. The joke about Murano has to do with a kid he went to elementary school with named muir and a former boss of his named muir and calling it a "murano". I know it sounds stupid, but it also is a little hint for when they made him an issue to women. He met a Hooters girl in Colorado Springs whose last name was Augustino, she playfully had told him she changed her name from augustine. The girl was telling him this like she was playfully telling him the trick he was a victim of in a what was supposedly a show.

So he met a couple people named muir (mur) someone else marketed him as a moron (muran) and it was all done to make women think he was gross (murano). Incidentally the second muir guy was best of friends with the Maloof brothers who own the palms casino in vegas and the sacremento kings in the NBA and they participated in kicking this guy to the curb and spreading bad info on the guy so women would think they were hip and could then get women to basically do their bidding.

Turkey has tryptophan in it. So do most foods we eat. On Thanksgiving we consume LARGE amounts of mulitple foods with high tryptophan counts. Tryptophan increase brain levels of serotonin (a calming neurotransmitter when present in moderate levels) and/or melatonin which make you sleepy. THE FUCKING END

^^^ Um, you deleted the part in the middle, "... we consume LARGE amounts of mulitple foods with high tryptophan counts."

If your going to argue the point, at least argue the right one.

Yes I was just going to type this, but thank you for saving me the trouble. Tryptophan is actually converted to melatonin (a few other steps but it's not worth typing out) this guy always starts dumb-ass threads, and coming from me that's pretty bad!! Lol. Either he's a whack job or trying to write some kind of movie. Did you read the one about scaring strippers to market Victoria's Secret?

No you just wanna argue with people. I dont think anyone besides crazy, troll OP gives a damn whether turkey makes one sleepy on Thanksgiving or any other day. Its a fact. Tryptophan makes you sleepy, damn near every food we eat has Tryptophan in it. Consume copious amounts of multiple foods with high levels and BAM.

Ok, I don't want to make it seem like I'm arguing, because I do agree with you.... However, I'm gonna be a nerd here and quote Mythbusters. They found that the levels of Tryptophan in turkey weren't high enough to cause sleep in people; rather, the sleepiness was caused by people eating and drinking too much. The amount of turkey that would have to be consumed was very high - high enough that someone would be full several times over before they crashed due to the tryptophan. Anyone that's pigged out hardcore before knows how it makes you sleepy.... Not only that, but it's my personal theory that you get a placebo effect from the turkey myth, which mentally amplifies the tired feeling.

I mean, really.... You might as well stuff your face that day, it tastes best then.... It's the leftovers that really suck. I used to be a stoner, and I will say this - thanksgiving dinner with the munchies is amazing, and really cuts down on leftovers, lol

    No. More. Arguing. About. Turkey.

    Go here: http://www.nutritiondata.com/foods-0...000000000.html

Its not JUST the Turkey in this Tryptophan scheme to make us tired, oh no, the Turkey does not stand alone my friends. He has hidden snipers in your cheese, broccoli, soup and even Tabasco sauce!
