    Lightbulb Making Your own Outfits

Anyone make their own outfits? Any links that might help? I want to copy some of the designs from Badkitty, but not sure how to use that type material. I'm looking for patterns or any diy type sites. I'll share one I use. It's:

there are also a lot of ideas on how to reform T-shirts at sights like instructables.com. Some easy bikini ideas there.

    Thanks for any help girls

Cutting and reformed t-shirts should be way easier and a good thing to start with. I wouldn't recommend trying to sew stretch fabric unless you're an experienced seamstress (there is a hell of a lot of cussing involved)

i really like using this pattern...

i made all of those tops. spandex is easy to use once you have a little experience.

also, kwiksew has ALOT of really easy patterns for lingerie.

any kind of bikini patterns will be useful for your dancer wardrobe

this corset pattern is a very very easy pattern to use. it's not a super traditional corset, but it looks very nice when finished. i've made it two or three times.

though my all time favorite and most used pattern BY FAR is this one...

i have made those camisoles and panties soooooo many times.

    edit

most camisoles or duster jacket patterns would look really good when made of a mesh or netting. try shortening skirt patterns, or try costumey patterns in a "sexy" material.

also, joanns is not the best place for fabric. if you have a fabric wholesale district, try the shops there. you'll find all kinds of wacky fabrics.

I am an ok seamstress and I have done it. If you don't have a serger than play around with different feet and threads until you are comfy with those stretchy fabrics. I also have done a lot with gromets and made a cave woman outfit (by hand, very simple) that a feature bought off my back. I think it was Jada De Ville but I couldn't really remember. All I did was make a triangle top and a jagged cut skirt out of cheap fake fur, but it was really cute!

the times that i sewed my own outfits i turned my dance clothes inside out and used it for a pattern. just remember to cut the fabric about a half inch more so it isnt too small and if its too big you can always take it in.

I make a lot of my own things. Like shinysugar, I started out using old outfits as patterns. When you go to the fabric store just keep in mind how the fabric is going to wear. There's quite a few varieties that really don't require much in the way of hemming etc due to the way they are finished, which means less work for you and a longer lasting outfit.

And stay away from stretch crushed velvet. OMG miserable to work with!!! The shedding..the tearing.. UGH!
