    Default No pole or floorwork?

I feel a bit silly asking, but...I am looking to audition at a club in my area, but I am a bit puzzled: they have a stage, and just a stage. No pole, and they don't allow floorwork either. I know that there a few clubs with this type of set up, but I've always done floor and pole work and now I'm a bit hesitant: what are some ideas for moves when all you have is a stage?

You're going to feel silly, but just walk around the stage and do a series of sexy poses.

Are you athletic at all? If so, here's a few ideas that helped me when I worked at a club without a pole (and didn't allow a lot of floorwork)

Can you do splits? Some clubs consider this floorwork but others don't. Also, backbends, flips (I could never do flips, I'm too tall, but I've seen shorter dancers do these), cartwheels, and regular dance routines. I incorporated ballet and modern dance routines into my performance, such as spins (where you spin in the air). Another trick that works are the hip swivels common in clubs. The ones where you bend your knees and twist your body. Most dancers do a variation of these. I knew a girl who could only do these hip twists and she banked.

Is there a wall you can work with? Almost anything you can do on the floor you can adapt to a wall. Any curtains beads you can safely hang off?

Jeez, why no floor work? Thats mean. Id have to stick to 5 inch heels and under if I had no pole, no floor and no wall to work with.

This sounds like what I've heard about some clubs in DC.

I say do some hip rolls - you know those things w/your legs and knees close together as you move your butt around. Are you allowed to bend over? Maybe slowly bend over with your legs spread apart a little while you touch your legs going down, and then slowly come while looking over your shoulder @ one specific customer (who you think will spend the most $$$ on you). There's this one move where you basically stand and transfer your weight from one leg to the other while you jutt out your hip from one side to the other - your legs are more than shoulder width apart - this looks good with your hands holding up your hair.

I wish I could find a video. Sorry, this text explanation may make no sense whatsoever.

My club is like that. I joke that I have "perfected the art of walking back and forth and bending over."

Everything everyone else said. Just move slow and sexy.

My club is the same way too. Just watch the other girls for a bit first. My best advice is to go slower than you think you need to. Almost every time I've seen someone new "look bad" it's because they tried to do too much too fast. "Posing" really isn't the right word... but it's the best I can think of to describe what you'll wind up doing. A sort of fluid slow movement from pose to pose. You learn to be really aware of the shape your body is in, where your hands are, etc. You get used to it, trust me. When I first went from working in clubs with poles to working at my current club, I had no idea what to do with myself. NOW I feel like I dance much more sexy than I used to. I still miss pole work sometimes, but I like it this way better overall. I never really did anything other than pole or floor work at other clubs. I barely knew how to walk across the stage without having something to grab at first.

I know exactly what you're talking about, I do it all the time. I tried to think of another way to describe it, and I really can't either. The only way I'd elaborate is to say by "jutt out your hip" you mean slowly and fluidly from one side to the other. Not like, Shakira. Heh, not that Shakira isn't good. Oh and, you kind of bend the knee and drop the hip opposite of the one you're lifting...

I think maybe all I did was make it sound more complicated. lol
