    Smiley City water and acne

So my whole life I never had acne until I moved out to the city where I live now. I was trying to think of all of the different factors of why this could happen, and i developed a hypothesis. Where I grew up we had well-water, but here water that comes out of the tap is city water. So ive been washing my face with city water. I was going to test this hypothesis by buying a filter for my shower head or something but never got around to it.

However, out of laziness, I actually have stopped using water in my skin care. Now the only method i use to clean my face is cleansing wipes.... Neutrogena night calming makeup remover cleansing towelettes to be precise. When i come home from work i am tired, so i started just wiping off my makeup with one of these then passing out. Occasionally i will also use a peel off mask so again, i dont have to walk downstairs to the bathroom to rinse my face (i know this is lazy, but I am honestly very very tired these days after work.) The only other change in my skin care regimen is i have started using self tanner (sunlabs and i maintain it with the jergens gradual tanner for face but I dont see any ingredients in it that could change anything.

And my acne is gone! like i have one zit that is still healing, and maybe another tiny one. But my skin has not looked this good in a few yrs so i am really excited. I can actually go outside with no foundation now and feel like my skin looks ok. I have seriously tried a million different ways to clean my skin with different topical acne medications and this is the only one that has had any real positive results.

So yea, I was wondering if any of you guys here have experienced something like this. I'm curious to know. Google didnt seem to have any conclusive results on whether tap water can cause acne, but i know it has minerals so maybe those clog pores.

What city is this? Does it happen to be SF? Cuz my sis said that when she moved there she got acne, it has to do with the pollution in the air. Also city water isn't that great either. I want to move out to the country where the air is much cleaner but there is more money to be made in the city. Oh well.

could it be your face wash (that you use with water) that's the prob and not the water? I used to use Neutrogena face wash and always broke out if I didn't scrub my face while rinsing it off to get it all off. I know use Pharmagel and haven't had a problem with acne since I've used it.

ive gone through a million different face washes... from all natural ones to ones with sacyllic (sp?) acid and ones with benzyl peroxide. I dont think its been those.

It could be another factor that i havent thought of yet... but ive been avoiding putting city water on my face for a bit now and my skin is a lot better. Who knows.

Im in Cleveland btw. Im sure our water here is dirty as fuck, lol.

customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

the only time i ever had a problem with acne was when i wore a lot of foundation and around the time of the month. i have a book that says you could have break outs because of what youre eating. it could be that the water is drying out your skin and leaving extra mineral deposits on your face. do you have hard water?

When I started to drink city water and stayed drinking it I got acne bad. Nothing worked to get rid of it either until I started cleansing my body and I only drank spring water or distilled water.

Since researching homeopathic medicine for years, I have come to the conclusion that it is mostly the chlorine in city water.

The reason is because chlorine kills all the bacteria, good and bad. We have good bacteria in our body that we need to fight infections and keep our immune systems in top condition, chlorine kills that good bacteria.

Just don't drink any more city water.

I noticed a significant difference when I started washing my face with & only drinking bottled water after my friend (who works for the city water) scared me off the tap water. My skin looks awesome most of the time now.

It's true, city water is really terrible for the sina dn I think for the teeth also. There's a documentary on the perils of tap water and the additives they put in it on youtube.
    I THINK - THEREFORE I AM

I don't know if it can cause acne, but yes, there is plenty of crud in your water. See:
