So my whole life I never had acne until I moved out to the city where I live now. I was trying to think of all of the different factors of why this could happen, and i developed a hypothesis. Where I grew up we had well-water, but here water that comes out of the tap is city water. So ive been washing my face with city water. I was going to test this hypothesis by buying a filter for my shower head or something but never got around to it.
However, out of laziness, I actually have stopped using water in my skin care. Now the only method i use to clean my face is cleansing wipes.... Neutrogena night calming makeup remover cleansing towelettes to be precise. When i come home from work i am tired, so i started just wiping off my makeup with one of these then passing out. Occasionally i will also use a peel off mask so again, i dont have to walk downstairs to the bathroom to rinse my face (i know this is lazy, but I am honestly very very tired these days after work.) The only other change in my skin care regimen is i have started using self tanner (sunlabs and i maintain it with the jergens gradual tanner for face but I dont see any ingredients in it that could change anything.
And my acne is gone! like i have one zit that is still healing, and maybe another tiny one. But my skin has not looked this good in a few yrs so i am really excited. I can actually go outside with no foundation now and feel like my skin looks ok. I have seriously tried a million different ways to clean my skin with different topical acne medications and this is the only one that has had any real positive results.
So yea, I was wondering if any of you guys here have experienced something like this. I'm curious to know. Google didnt seem to have any conclusive results on whether tap water can cause acne, but i know it has minerals so maybe those clog pores.
