    Question Stripper shoes..need help ASAP;)

Ok, so heres the deal, I have been attempting to practice in my stripper shoes to start dancing again. I have absolutely no balance & cannot walk worth a shit in them. I have 3 pair which are all about 5" or so. I'm 5'9" & I don't feel comfortable walking around my house in them, let alone a club full of ppl. I feel like a big, doppy fool that is about to take a tumble or twist an ankle.

Anything else that I have read advises that girls "live" in their shoes to get used to them, well I have been trying to do that. I cannot go up & down stairs without taking an hour & totally paranoid I'm gonna falls. I can't walk anywhere without feeling unbalanced.

I'm wondering if any clubs would let me wear maybe a 4" to start or even chunky. I'm so clueless as to what to do now...I have audition tommarrow, so I'm hoping to start then or Thursday....What kind of shoes can I wear to my audition?

Any advice from all you girls who have mastered these crazy shoes, I'd sooo appreciate it. Thanks
    XoXo

I'm 5'11 and I live in these shoes which make me 6'2

The problem with 4 inch heels is that they don't have the platform, which makes the angle of the shoe steeper (thus more uncomfortable)

You can try a shoe like this http://www.snaz75.com/el-421-brook.html

to start out. But Britney is right, I think you'll find them to be even less comfotable as the night goes by.

Thanks, but how am I supposed to keep my balance? I'm going to be paranoid all nite about it, expec on stage walking up & down to the stage. I feel like I'm gonna tumble at any second.

How can I get used to them if I'm too freaked out to wear them in the club?

Will they let you wear boots? Boots come in all shapes, and styles. Maybe if you tell them your still learning they will let you slide for a while.
Also I'm not sure but there is a video on youtube for everything under the sun. Search and see if there's a how to walk in heels video.

Can you get your hands on a Drag queen? I'm not joking A drag queen will have you walking in those heels in no time.

I got 4 inch heels to start in and was tumbling all over in them when I wore them around the house. The first hour was a bit difficult, but honestly you will be so caught up in the enviroment and experience of your first night you will forget about being self conscious about stumbling in your shoes. And while you will have to walk across the room and dance on stage, most of your time will be spent sitting with customers (hopefully anyway!)

It amazed me how quickly I got used to my stripper shoes, I guess it's just because you spend numerous nights or days a week wearing them for long hours. The first couple nights my feet hurt from walking in heels and I was a bit wobbly, but about a month and a half later I am completely comfortably in them. My feet are never sore and I don't wobble. I've increased the heel size from 4 inch to 5 3/4 and the ones I wear now (and every night) are 7 inches.

I wore 4" heels without platforms when I first started. I think in a way not having the platforms is a lot more classy. Why don't you call the club though and see what they allow?
    Don't you ever sleep?

You know what? That low heel does look classy, but when I see a girl in super tall 8 inch heels, even on a bad night I'm giving her a few dollars. Unless she's a bitch, then I'll just ball it up and peg her in the back with it while she's not looking.

Have you tried the vacuuming trick? Vacuum your house in the heels. That way you can hang onto the vacuum for balance while you get used to the height. And your floor gets clean. you'll catch on before you know it. they're actually pretty easy and comfortable once you get used to it. I think it's more a psychological barrier than an actual difficulty factor.

Maybe try a chunkier heel? This will give you better balance.

Vacuuming AND sweeping helps. And walking in carpeted areas, helps with balance to keep you up to get used to it. Plus, I wonder if you might need to put skids on your shoes. I know my first few needed them and now I am not bothered with balance at all.

You might have a MUCH easier time in chunk heels or cone heels. I started in boots. I kept my money in my boots. I called it my trademark. LOL.

If you keep thinking that you are going to fall, you are going to fall. I have worn heels at least 4 times a week since Jr. High School and I still break in new Stripper shoes around the house. It makes it easier when I get to work because the pile on my rug is a little higher than that tacky-ass strip club rug with neon ladies on it. (My club doesn't really have that I just wanted to mention it!)

So you are probably doing the right thing by wearing them around the house- trust me when you get back on stage it will come back very easily!

Yeah most of my floors are carpet, but I do have a decent amount of hardfloors, which i find super slippery! I definately feel like the bottoms of my shoes will slide.

UGHHhhhhh......well, for right now im wearing a chunkier 4" just to start in, but i need to get going with the nicer ones fairly quick.

    Thanks everyone

^Get some shoe grips. They will help a lot if you're afraid of sliding.

I know a lot of dancers trust those non-slip grips, but they will slip too ... and just make the bottom of your shoes a gooey sticky mess. Take any shoes you get to your local shoe repair guy and have them put dance rubber on the bottom. You will never slip and it will never come off. I'm sure the price can vary, but the guy who does mine charges me about $5 a pair and only takes him a few minutes. I give him $10 because it's worth it!

Beyond that ... practice makes perfect! Gia2608 is also right ... If you think you will fall then you will fall. Take failure out of your head and march forward with confidence. You'll be walking solid in them in no time!

try the cone or chunky heels or boots. and start with 4 inches, im sure u will do great. also practice dancing or walking in them around the house first helps a lot.

The floors in your club might be easier to walk in than your home. So you'll never know until you try...just go early if possible and try it out. If worse comes to worse, just get shorter heels until you get used to it. Try not to overthink it either....

I'm 5'8" and walk (and sometimes dash - when I'm late for my stage set) in 8 1/2" heels all night...and I have terrible balance, I've just worn them forever. If I can do it anyone can with a little practice.

    Ok, this was sooooooooo wierd......

First off, everynight couple hours before i go to bed, I put my stripper shoes on & walk around, go do moves in front of the mirror, etc.....

Wellllllllllll, 2 nites ago, I put them on, got up, & steadily just walked like a normal person, no teetering, no twisting my ankles, totally on balance, so then I was doing my moves in them, I had no problems at all that one nite.

So I think I'm ready to graduate out into the real work with my stripper shoes. Since I'm ok now on carpet, I'm still worried about the slippery stages I will come across. They are have non slides on the bottoms, so I will see if they work.

Thanks eveyone for all your help. Practice Practice Practice!!!

Ok, when I went to my audition, I still wore my chunkier heel. I took my stillettos with me but just couldnt put them on...was too nervous.

Anyways, didn't get hired so it really didn't matter anyhow.

I have balance issues too and doing yoga poses like tree a few minutes each day out of the shoes helps me. Helps keep me limber, too. Between yoga and lap dancing for fat guys I should be able to do splits in no time, LOL!

I would really start out in shoes with a strap or boots, you need something to support your ankles if you feel so unbalanced. Being tall is hot, super models are tall and all men want to be with them lol I'm 5'5" I wore 8" stilettos trust me I towered over all the customers but I loved it! Heels make everything look so much better on a woman! Your butt is perky, and the way it makes you calves look and how slender it helps everyone look I'm shocked more women don't rock the higher heels. Stick with your 5" ones, and wear those puppies all over your house. If you take a spill at home no one to laugh at you. Just be careful and like I said get some shoes with straps or invest in some knee high boots the added support to your ankle will make you feel so much more secure.

P.s. if you do take a spill pick yourself up and laugh it off, we've all done it lol

Yes, I definately want a pair of boots for sure. I think those would be easier for me to walk in. I haven't actually fallen at home YET, but I have went over sideways about 5 times, LOL!

I"m still scared shitless to walk around in those in a club, where the lights are so low, I can't see shit in front of me or where any steps are or nuthin....I hate that.
