    Default New and Nervous

So the clubs in my area do not really require an audition to get "hired". The manager at the club that I frequented as a customer told me to come in today, pay my DJ fee and try it out. He warned me about the obvious (you have to be ok taking your clothes off in front of people - thanks sherlock ) and offered to pair me with another dancer to learn the ropes.

My question - I have never done anything like this before and I am nervous about all the usual things (like what if I fall or kick some poor guy in the face..). I have practised as much as I can without anyone really helping me... should I just avoid doing stuff that seems risky (like touching the pole...) or should I just have at her and try to have fun?

For the verterns out there - is there one thing you wish you could have known as you were starting out that would have made your life that much easier?

Thanks in advance for your responses

What do you have to do? Dance on stage? lap dance? any contact?

I think you should do what 99% of strippers do, and just have at 'er. Have fun with it! Learn by observing the other girls.

I don't wish I had known anything (aside from Hustle Hut advice for lap dances) more than what I did going into my first time (which was very little). Read up on the Newbie Board for advice about what to take to your first night....but that's about it.

The fact is that most dancers WILL fall at some point in their time dancing... sometimes multiple times. If it happens, just get up and laugh it off. Making jokes about it shows others that you are well humored and don't take yourself too seriously.

Either clean the pole before you touch it (most clubs will have something on stage for this) or else wash your hands when you are off the stage. The pole makes a great prop and avoiding it would be silly.

If you kick a guy in the face apologize profusely, tell him you are new, and offer to buy him a drink or give him 1/2 off a dance.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

Read up on hustle hut. I read all the newbie threads but I do wish I had read more hustling tips. But honestly you will learn the basics from being there.

Don't avoid the pole but don't try any crazy pole tricks. Most guys are cool about you falling and knocking over drinks or even hitting them in the head as long as it WASN'T painful (I've done all of the above and I've still gotten stage tips!). The waitress will bring them a new drink and just give them some special attention if you knock them with you shoe (the guy I knocked with my heel bought a dance from me afterwards, he thought it was hilarious and a good story to tell his friends, haha).

Guys love new girls so play it up as much as you can you'll make easy money without having to really use any hustling skills. And dance x100 times slower than you want to.

Sounds a bit like where I work, the DJ just calls everyone up in order, you dance to one song in your outfit, then one topless and lap dancing.

The majority of girls in my club aren't pole acrobats, they literally get up on stage and dance slow and sexy with or against the pole, maybe putting in a few spins as their confidence grows and picking things up from the other girls.

wrt to the lap dancing, don't worry too much as everyone seems to do it differently. I was terrified the first time I did one but the guy asked me for a 2nd so I must have done something right. Just go with the flow and see if you can see what the other girls are doing to pick up some moves.

LOL i have fallen, kicked and while attempting pole tricks for my first few times, I actually got tied up in one of my sringy outfits that had to be cut off the pole hahahah! Don't worry everyone has their moments, just have a sense of humor about it and about yourself and most importantly have fun!

I wish someone had taught me the mindset of running a business. I didn't have a mentor to show me the ropes (and there wasn't anything as good as SW back then) so I just did a lot of trial and error to figure out what worked (and didn't work)

Oh, and I totally ATE it the first time I wore 5 inch shoes. So I stuck to 3 inch gogo boots for the first year and a half of my career.....
