Travel Moving from England to australia

I'm an English dancer moving to Brisbane in November as my aussie boyfriend wants to go home for 6 months-1 year. It'l be my first time in Oz and I'm pretty nervous!! Ive been reading a couple of threads on here about dancing in Brisbane but none of it seems too positive I presume I would be allowed to dance on a working visa? Any news on clubs there at the moment? Is November onwards considered a good time to work? I love dancing in England and would like to experience it elsewhere both for the money and the flexibility of combining work with sightseeing. Does it sound like a good idea to keep stripping in Oz? The reason I ask is because I couldn't find much positive info on dancing in Queensland when I looked. All info would be appreciated xxxx

I know a very sheepish boy in Sydney that you could seduce...and slowly suck away his giant savings

In Queensland touching waist up is practically mandatory and clubs think it's ok to take 40-50% of your earnings.

Commute back and forth to Melbourne or Adelaide to work, you'll make more even with the plane tickets.

Please feel free to pm me if you want more info x

Yes you can work on a working holiday visa. You just have to get an Australian Business Number (ABN) which takes only a few minutes on the internet. Technically you should only work for 6 months as that is the restriction on the working holiday visa, but I know a lot of travelers that work the full 12 months under their ABN. I originally came on this visa and didn't break the restriction cause I wanted to stay and didn't want to get in shit with the government.

I agree with shameless traveling to Melbourne/Adelaide is worth the trip; however, to difficult to do every week. I traveled to Melbourne every week for 6 months and eventually couldn't do it anymore. I had to work 4 nights every week to make it worthwhile and the toll it took on my relationships with hubby and friends was too much. Now I do 3 weeks in Sydney where they take over half my money and then 1 or 2 weeks in Melbourne. But I find in the winter months its been better to stay in Sydney even with what they take because the guys spend more here, so its pretty much the same profit after I subtract my Melbourne expenses.

But yes Queensland is all touchy so if you're not cool with that its not going to be nice. One of my customers recommended B Confidential in Brisbane for me. I looked at the website and the girls look less than stunning, club small, but this customer who recommended it spent $800 without batting an eye on me in Sydney, and apparently he's a regular there.

Brisbane was my least favorite place to dance in Aus. I worked at Love & Rockets (formerly Bad Girls) on Petrie Terrace. Touching is allowed everywhere except between the legs, butt crack, and inner thighs. I wasn't able to handle that for an extended length of time. Also, in my opinion, there are too many clubs in Brissie and not enough people to go to them. According to custys I've talked too, Velvet Cigar is the best one out there.

If you come a month earlier, when Indy is on in the Gold Coast, that would probably be worth your while. It's a huge event and I've heard girls do really well there.

Alternatively, there's lots of promo work to do in QLD, in Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Also topless waitressing and stuff like that which pays pretty well.

    Good luck!

Yeah my boyfriend mentioned topless waitressing, that might be better for me, can't imagine feeling entirely comfortable being groped all night. How would I find out more about promo work? Is there a company I can contact? Thanks for your help girls, I really appreciate it

There are heaps of companies, just do a google search - but I would stay far, far away from Body Talk Promotions. I worked for them and had to blow up his phone and fill his e-mail box to receive a $500 payment he owed me. It was a horrible ordeal.

If you want topless waitressing/private party work Jo's Dancers (aka pinup promotions) is the company to work for in Brisbane.

I've worked at pretty much every club in Brisbane. The Velvet Cigar will treat you the best, but its not always the best money.

Love and Rockets kinda treat you like shit, but I made good money there. At Love and Rockets you can make really good money on stage ($100-$200+ a 15 minute stage show on a busy saturday night) kinda makes up for them taking 50% of your dance money. They let the customers get away with murder though and it sucks.

The most money I made in Brisbane was at The Cabaret Club, but they may not be for everyone (they do $5 lapdances for 30 seconds, so you sell a tonne of dances but also dance for literally hundreds of people a night). Security are really good in this club, and really look out for the dancers.

There are two clubs on the Gold Coast (45 min drive from Brisbane) where you pay a doorfee and keep 100% of your money. Hollywood Showgirls is the glitzy glamour club, and Crazy Horse is an absolutely dive. This year has been really quiet on the Gold Coast however, and theres always a billion girls. There's a little clique of 5 or 6 London girls at Hollywood.

I find my best money in Brisbane is June-August and late October till Christmas. January is all kinds of cruel to strippers in Brisbane. The Gold Coast is usually busy Oct-March though.

ETA: DO NOT WORK FOR UNIVERSAL PLAYERS, HOOTERS OR MINX. They are all owned by the one creepy freakazoid. They take 50% of your money, keep your pay over night, refuse to give it to you if you call in sick etc. Just all kinds of dodgy.

Scores is so freaking up and down I would waste my time (its a dive).
