Default Aspiring dancer and need advice

    Hello ladies,
I am starting college in the fall. I want to start exotic dancing a few months after school starts. I want to do this because a. It'll help me pay tuition and b. I have always been turned on by people watching me dance.
Anyways I have a few concerns that I was hoping you girls could help me with.
    1) In regards to safety, how should I get from the club to campus? Freshmen cannot have a car, and these taxi stories are creepy. Is taking a bus okay?
Btw, I want to audition at Kahoots in Columbus, Ohio. Seems like a classy club.

    2) I'm 5'4" and weigh 142 lbs. I think I should lose 10-15 lbs because I need to tone my whole body basically. Can you offer me any diet and exercise tips?

    3) I'm trying to pick my stage name. I've narrowed it down to these: Bella, Ava, Jordan, Nikita, or Riley. If it influences your opinion, I have strawberry-blonde hair, pale skin, and freckles. Which of these names do you like, or is there another name you could suggest?

Phew, that was a lot to say, but I'd really really appreciate everyone's advice!!

    Thanks!

    1) In regards to safety, maybe one of your friends that has a car can take you / pick u up, or just you take their car to work & back. Cuz once your at the club, the bouncer will escort you back out to your car. Just an idea....I have no clue about buses, taxis, etc

Btw. I have also heard great thing about Kahoots too I think there are a couple on SW that dance there & could really give you the scoop on the place!

    2) Those 10 lbs will fall off once you start dancing. But until then just hydate all the time, try to take daily walks, or exercies to increase your endurance since you need alot of energy as a dancer.

    3) Honestly with your features, I'm partial to Nikita because that was first stage name, but also I like Jordan alot too Those are my picks for you!

    1. Many clubs have private drivers specifically for that purpose they will pick you up and drop you off. Ask.

    2. I wrote an article on how to get a stripper body on ehow I have a larger document that outlines my DancerFit program, pm me if interested

    3. Don't get your heart set on ANYTHING until you get hired and are sure there isn't another girl by that name. I was BritneyIreland from 1999-2002, even had the website. Then I moved to AZ and both Britney and Ireland were taken. Hence, I became Avalon.

Wow, you've given me some good advice. I've never heard of a private driver, so hopefully the club will have one. That'd solve a lot of my safety concerns. And I'll definitely have to try the cardio workout. It sounds intense, but it's probably worth it if it shows results.

    1) I always take a taxi to work and back and never had a problem. But on the way I don't ask the driver to drop me at the club. I just ask for a nearby intersection. If they are making conversation and ask what your up to just say, "meeting friends for dinner". On the way home I always call my own answering machine and pretend Im talking to a boyfriend. "Hey baby Im in the taxi. I'll be home in 5 minutes". I always say the time so the taxi driver knows someone is expecting me. One club I worked at also had a register where they wrote down the taxi number of each car that took a girl.
    2) You will lose weight dancing, but definitely start working out now. More because of what Ohiogirl said. You will be exhausted if your not in shape. Lots and lots of cardio! Pole classes will also help with flexibility and strength and are tax deductible if you have a pole studio anywhere near you. Just try to eat healthy. Remember on shift you'll probably work 7+++ hours and be moving for a lot of it, so make sure you eat enough. Low GI foods are better than the quick sugar hit.
    3) I like Bella, strawberry-blonde with freckles sounds beautiful (Bella) to me!

Please dont take the bus to and from work. Its a terrible idea. Honestly, often riding the bus alone at 2:30 am is a bad idea as a girl. After dancing, even worse. Plus in columbus i think the buses stop running before then.

Your school cant ban you from having a car as a frehsman completely. It can ban you from having a car in their parking lots... but if you do already own a car, i would look up city parking lots nearby and purchase a permit unrelated to the school. Just dont tell them and you will be fine. Does your campus have a late night walking service or soemthing to that effect? I dont know how far the club is from your college but if your club is kind of far, then get a car and park on the edge of campus in legal parking that the school doesnt know you are using. When you are coming home drive there, park your car, then call up your campus safewalk or whatever service to walk you back to your dorm.

If you dont have a car then i agree with the others, carefully take taxis or ask about private rides. You can also ask friends. My suggestions were if you arleady had a car and were planning on leaving it at home. If you have a car though definitely try to bring it with you without letting the school know.
The best thing i have heard in a strip club to date:
customer: we should get married right now! we should get a shotgun marriage!
me: uhh... i think you are misunderstanding what a shotgun marriage means. A shotgun marriage means you knock me up and my daddy shows up at your door with a gun and forces you to marry me and raise the baby. You mean elope.
customer: hmm... nah actually i will take the shotgun marriage. At least then we would be having sex.

I don't suggest taking the bus, but I did do it while stripping for about 4 years. To that I say you gotta do what you gotta do.

I also used to work day shift while taking the bus so when I got off work it was still light outside. 11 am to 6pm

The few nights I took the bus I would dress like a guy, Ball cap, baggy jeans the works.
I never took a bus back. No one is gonna mess with you going into the club, it's coming out with cash that's the problem. So I took a cab or I asked one of the girls to take me home.

Once you get in there you may be able to car pool with someone.
We all know dancers that don't have cars and they always ride with someone.

Why do people say that you will lose the weight when you start dancing? I've been dancing for 7 years now and I've only seen this twice, and one of those girls was on blow.

If you already have a car then leave it at one of your friend's apartment complexes. If you don't then go to work during the day by taking the bus there however ride back in a taxi or get to know one of the girls & ask her if she does not mind to taking you home. Offer her some $ or if it’s out of the way for her then give her a little bit more. Everyone is trying to hold on their $ as long as they can. Perhaps if you did not want to go that route then ask the club for a private driver like Britney mentioned.

I like the name Riley & Bella & good luck to you, Girly!

maybe not lose weight, but certainly gain muscle and therefore have a faster metabolism and then lose fat.

Ive slimmed down since i started dancing, and its certainly not due to blow. I do pole tricks which is a great work out on stage and i put forth a fair amount of energy into my lapdances. I probably weigh the same as when i started dancing, but im much skinnier because im solid muscle. Most people certainly tone up through it.... it is exercise

I've taken a cab to and from work a buncha times and never had a problem. Now that I work further away from home I carpool with another dancer who lives in my area, and I pay her some cash every day she drives me (a cab-ride would be $60 each way... I've offered to pay $20 each way or something to that effect but she said she only wants $10 round-trip). I put myself on schedule in such a way that I only work on a day and at a time when she is working also. Plus I have roommates who have cars and pay them on the rare occasion when I need a ride to work. It's a good idea to have a few options available at any given time, and to also insist on offering gas $$ to whomever gives you a ride.

Thank-you so much to everyone who offered their advice. I feel better about the transportation issue now that I have options. Thanks!!
