    Default Initial Investment

    Hi Ladies!

I was wondering, how much did you invest in starting to dance? Shoes, outfits, hair (wigs or extensions) & accessories, etc. Also, did you start out with lingerie or actual dance outfits? Platforms or stilettos?

    Let's see....shoes were $80. Outfit was $50. Garter was, maybe $5? Thong was $20.

I knew all the stuff was overpriced when I was buying it at the stripper store, and I could have (and did eventually) get stuff for cheaper online. But I also knew I needed to just buy the stuff or I'd wait around to audition FOREVER.

The purchases served me well. I still wear the outfit and the shoes.

    I bought 3 pair of 'stripper shoes' @ $80 per pair. Outfit $40. Garter $5 Pasties $5
Hair: Dyed it platinum blond from dark brown: $100. Tanning $30. Mani/Pedi: $65.
Extentions eventually, but need to save the money first

I am starting with lingerie I already have around my house too. But obviously I still need more 'outfits'. There were soooo many I wanted to buy but only got one to start in.

I haven't bought any accessories yet, but prob will eventually buy gloves, feather boa, knee highs, etc....just not needing that stuff yet.....

Back in 1999: $70 for mandatory (black) robe, $40 for fluorescent yellow bikini with butterfly appliques on the boobs and cookie, $20 for fluorescent yellow hot shorts, and $30 for god-awful sparkly black 5 inch chunky shoes from Hot Topic.

ugh....I cringe and hide my face.....

Before I auditioned I went to my local stripper store. I had no clue what I needed thankfully the manager was so helpful (this was before I found stripperweb). I tried on a million shoes and outfits. I bought two basic outfits. They weren't fancy and cost between $30 and $40 each. The shoes I got were relatively cheap ($30) and broke within the first month. The store replaced them for free and they broke again- so $60+ is probably a good investment in shoes. I didn't want to go overboard for my audition or before I knew if I would like dancing. Later I invested in hair extensions and more expensive costumes.

    lingerie from ross, $7
    shoes, $30
I went super cheap. I never wear those shoes anymore but I still wear the red bra I bought from Ross all the time (and it's one of my best money making items).
I still don't invest in stripper clothes all that often, I find cheaper stuff and just make it look strippery. I would rather not look like every other stripper in the club anyway.

For my audition, I didn't buy anything...and for awhile afterwards, I just wore boots that I already had plus a few outfits I got from Goodwill. Thongs from Victoria's Secret.

Eventually I used snaz75.com for shoes ($27) and a local outfit lady for clothing.

Sometimes looking like a newb can be a very good thing...

Well, I was going thru sticker shock since I haven't purchased stripper gear since '94 lmao. I wish I still had my outfits- especially those lace chaps....
Oh well- I found a less expensive store & got a pair of shoes for $50. Most of their outfits are $25-$50. I'll have to go back there long before closing next time.
I'm wearing tree braids right now, but I don't really consider that an expense yet.
I've got to get my waxing done (I do my own mani/pedi) & I think I'll be set to audition by August. I hope I'm not too old for this!!!!!!
