    Question How do You Loose Weight When You're Working Nights?

    So here's the deal: I've been working nights as a waitress for about 2 months now.

    Monday thru Wednesday I get home and in bed around 7 am. I sleep until 11-11:30 am. Then I am awake with my son until 2 pm, when we both take a nap until 4 pm (If I'm lucky) .

    Most of the time I eat breakfast when I wake up at 11, and then lunch again at 4 when DS gets up. I don't usually eat again until 10 - 11pm when I'm already at work (which consists of a Vitamin water, 5 hour energy, something chicken and animal crackers.)

    I get plenty of exercise running around the club serving drinks, being on my feet for 8 hours (and 12 on Fridays). I've already lost 5 lbs, all in my tummy and hips from wearing the corset.

    I'm just thinking, how should I change my diet, what should I be eating and when? DH says I should I get all my calories during the day and no carbs after 9. But I shouldn't be eating before I go to bed? I'm confused!

    It doesn't matter what time you eat, just as long as you don't eat a heavy meal right before bed. Most people are in bed by 11 or midnight, that's why your husband said not to eat after 9pm.

    I've been packing cut veggies and dip with me for snack foods. I got one of those little rubbermaid containers that only holds like 1/4 cup of dressing, then I put some carrots, cherry tomatoes, celery, broccoli florettes in a zip lock baggie. They are very filling and tasty, but have almost no calories.

    Instead of animal crackers try eating fresh fruit. Grapes, bananas, apples, really anything that is good finger food works.


    Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

    I would add that the vitamin water/sodas are a source of lots of sugar and empty calories.

    I think 5 lbs in 2 months is great! It should stay off because you're losing slowly. Paris' advice should help a lot, too. Keep up the good work, Girl!

    A meal should consist of a starch, protein, and a source of fat to make you feel full longer. Snacks should have a veggie and a fruit, and a source of protein like yogurt, cheese, milk, or a meat. These should keep you full of energy and feeling full.

    You should also eat every 3 hours or so. This way, you don't get too tired and burned out and overly hungry later. And what Paris said is right-a heavy meal before bed isn't good. It doesn't matter what time you go to bed, just that you shouldn't eat right before.

    if u eat a protein bar in the middle of your shift, you won't be hungry before bed. Healthy way to go I think

    Those darn animal crackers are so hard to stay away from, the girls bring 3 cups from the back to the service station and I find myself when (I'm bored) grabbing one here, one there... It's really just mindless eating. And the darn cheese & fruit plates, they melt cheese on crackers and make ghetto nachos!

    I did pretty good tonight, took some diced boiled chicken, a protein bar and a bottle of water. The corset helps me to pick all night. Thanks ladies, you've been a great help!

    I, too, say nix the animal crackers. They're just empty white carbs.

    If it's crackers you like, get a box of whole grain ones and bring a serving of them with you in a baggie. Kashi makes good ones. Heck, even Triscuits are better for you than animal crackers. Just stay away from Wheat Thins. The name is deceptive. They're fatty as hell and not healthy.

    If you like cheese on your crackers, try a wedge or two of reduced fat Laughing Cow brand spreadable cheese. It's very flavorful and soft, but two whole wedges has only 70 cals. It's high in protein, too. Between the fiber whole wheat crackers and the protein, you'll be so full, you wouldn't want anything else. And the whole mini-meal would set you back 250 cals or less for a generous helping.
