Mind Blowing My club raided and shut down tonight, and I am glad.

I know that sounds bad, and I feel for all the girls I work with who are clean dancers and may be effected by this. I don't however, feel bad for the owners or management, or any of the other trash I work with who have had this coming for a long time. For one, the owners and managers of that club have been running that place dirty for a while, and deserve every single fine they get. From the prostitition, sex in the VIP, blow jobs on the floor, the underage drinking that they are AWARE OF, letting drunk fuckers take their alcohol outside and harass girls, to the failing to ID girls who come and work there, the verbal abuse and (rumored) physical abuse from management........oh lets not forget gunshots in the parking lot they they just acted oblivious about......

I got served a citation for not having a adult entertainment permit, which, I've never heard of in my county??? They never asked me for one at my last club either?? Oh well. The officer that I was with was super nice and basically told me just show up for my court date, state my case and more then likely it will be thrown out. I am not worried about it. It is all on the club for running things shady, and the cops are well aware of it. He was really kind and so were the rest of the officers, and girls were still getting stupid and yelling in their faces. Fucking dumbasses.

I AM happy however about the ho's that got arrested as well as all the trouble the club is in for underage drinking and underage girls working there.
I saw like 10 girls walk in last week, ask to work and were let on the floor wothout being ID'd or anything. The officer asked me if they ID'd me when I got a job there, and I told him yes but I did no sort of paperwork or anything.

I also told the cop about an incident last week where a guy was hanging out outside of the club in the parking lot with an open beer, being belligerent, grabbing at girls, and when I told management about it they told me to get fucked. The cop was sitting there looking at me wide-eyed like "wow"

And to boot, we were all in the dressing room, "detained" and scared, and one dumbass bouncer was standing right there, talking to girls like they were pieces of shit, talking about tip out when there were OBVIOUSLY more important things going on. There was a female cop standing next to me, and she just looked over at me like "wtf", I said "That's what it's like here" She rolled her eyes and looked away.

I also am done working there and done dancing in this town for good I hope. I am not going to go get a $158 dollar permit to dance in his shit town to make $200 a month. I'll go to Phoenix where I am licensed if I have to. The only reason I put up with working at that hell hole is because I can't get hired anywhere else cause of tattoos (which is bullshit)

Now I guess finding a "real" job is more imperative then before, and I am gonna have to work and try twice as hard to get one.

In a strange way, I feel liberated as I am sitting here writing this. I have a good, vaild reason to never step foot in there again.

Yayy! I hate people drinking too much, especially underage. My 22 year old brother just got a contributing to a minors delinquency charge and it's really turned his life around. He was set to be a homeless reefer lame-o dude but this lil wake up call got him moving again. Maybe your club being raided is just what y'all needed to switch gears and take it to the next level! ( I sound like a gay motivational speaker)

I TOTALLY understand where you're coming from. I've worked in clubs like this, and it sucks when you're there because you know about all the bs that's going on.... But you just can't really do anything about it other than change clubs. It really sounds like this is a giant weight off your shoulders, and I'm glad to hear that.... The whole situation is unfortunate, unless it's deserved.... Then it's just karma. I'm also glad to hear of a raid happening where the cops actually were showing humanity - wow, that's rare during a raid!

My eyes woulda popped outta my head if I worked with a bouncer that said that. GodDAMN, are you serious? What a dick, he doesn't care about you guys losing money as long as he doesn't? Ugh.

My old bar also didn't do a damn thing about underage drinking. They barely did anything about if you were drunk and wanted to drive home, however, so I can't say it doesn't suprise me. I always drank too much, and it was underage..... They never said a peep to me, so that makes me kinda upset in hindsight.

Take this whole thing as a blessing, it's a catalyst for change. You might as well take the chance you have to switch gears. I hope the guy was honest about the ticket thing, that sucks.... And good luck with the job hunt!

Well, it sounds like that's one less dirty club. Good for you for keeping your head on straight about this entire thing! I think if you tell the judge what you told us he/she will throw out your citation for sure.

YAY! I'm SO glad to hear it! That place was toxic, and I hated how unhappy you sounded every time you wrote about work.

Wasn't there another club you were thinking of working at?

You mean girls under 18 working there? That's gross.

Who cares about underage drinking. Girls underage drink at my club constantly and it never creates problems.

Yes, but I am still gonna have to go get the "permit" to work anywhere in town. It's $158 and we just simply don't have it right now.

I am just keeping my fingers crossed for a job, and am gonna hit the streets hard on Monday. I'll go and get the permit later if I decide to dance here and there during the winter.

Right now, it's just not worth it. I won't be able to make it back within a reasonable amount of time working here right now. I would probably take me weeks to do so.

In the winter time, I'll be able to make it back in one night, if not a few hours!

Well that's your club, isn't it?

I was talking about underage customers drinking anyways. There is no reason for 18 and 19 year old guys to be consuming mass amounts of alcohol in a topless club and causing a ruckus. It would happen at my club and it made for some very bad encounters.

Underage is one thing if they work there, but customers?

Wow. No wonder why the club is in trouble!

I'll go to Phoenix where I am licensed if I have to.
Keep in mind that if your charges of dancing without a 'dancer's license' are not dismissed and expunged, you may not be able to GET a dancer's license in Phoenix or other cities that require them. The reason is of course that all of these 'dancer's license' laws include criteria for refusing licensure, and one of the standard criteria is having violated a similar 'dancer's license' ordinance in another jurisdiction.

Yes, but I am still gonna have to go get the "permit" to work anywhere in town
The point I'm trying to make here is that if you wish to continue dancing in the future, it's important that you make sure that the record of this (bogus) bust disappears !!! Copping a plea bargain to avoid legal fees may let you walk with a minimal fine, but it will also leave a de-facto guilty verdict on your permanent record ... a de-facto guilty verdict that could prevent you from getting a dancer's license in your own home town as well as anywhere else that a 'dancer's license' is required.

Melonie, you said it well. I know that they scrutinized my record quite a bit in Phoenix (even before I got arrested for having a 3" kitchen knife under my passenger seat (Swear to God, I still have know idea why it was there)).
In Atlanta, it's been the same way. (Have you been arrested ever, for anything? Ummm.... Yeah?)

If you can, plead "no lo contendere" to get it to not show on your record. I don't know if it'll work for non-speeding tickets, but dancing without a permit in Phoenix, AZ or Atlanta, GA is essentially a prostitution charge.

^^^ I'm certainly not an attorney, but I have been advised by attorneys that entering a 'no contest' plea to any 'sexually related' charge ( which 'stripping without a license' is generally classified as ) will result in that charge continuing to be listed on the dancer' s permanent record.

There are really only three ways to be sure that such a charge will NOT appear on your permanent record and potentially interfere with obtaining future 'dancer's licenses' ...

    - the DA must dismiss the charge outright before it ever reaches a court docket

    - you must 'stand trial' and be found innocent

    - after you have entered into a plea bargain deal, or after you have 'stood trial' and been found guilty, or after you have pleaded 'no contest' (or outright 'guilty'), you must retain an attorney, initiate, and 'win' a new separate court action to have your record 'expunged'.

About the only actual value to a 'no contest' plea is that, in a civil action (i.e. future divorce or family court problems) the 'no contest' plea is not considered to be an admission of guilt. However, in the grand scheme of things, the original charge still serves as proof that the girl was working as a 'stripper' and strongly implies ( in the opinion of the ex-husband's attorney in any case) that she may have been doing more than just 'stripping'.

    .
What if I already have one? Cause I do, I have a "City of Phoenix Adult Cabaret Performer" card. Will they revoke it?

Also, should I bring both that, and my Las Vegas license to court to show them that I do the right thing (when aware of it!) I want them to know that I did not purposely avoid getting this license. Also, I have a completely clean record....are they gonna see that? I know alot of other girls were saying that they have warrants, felonies and other bad stuff on their records.
I also want them to know that I worked at another club in town before this one, and they never required a permit either.

In a perfect world, I would have gone on the internet and done my research about stripping in my county, but it isn't a perfect world and I am far from perfect.

    haha!

I am so glad to have a good reason not to ever go back to that place. If I wanted to, and had the money (which I don't) I could go and get that permit, and go back to work there. The are open, but are only letting girls with this "license" work.

Now that they have eyes on them big time, I don't want to be involved in the next "investigation" that goes on there. I have a feeling Prostitution is next on the list for the TPD.

Fuck that. I am not gonna go pay $158 just so I can go back to that shithole and struggle, AND put myself at risk for getting in trouble simply by being there......and for owners and management who don't give a flying fuck about their dancesr and treat them like shit.

So the club is still open? Unfortunately, this big bust will probably only serve to boost their business, as all the extras-seekers will likely flock to the place at the news of rampant law-breaking. yuck

Have you considered web-camming? It isn't fantastic money and can be quite time-consuming and even tiring/boring, but it is ok money and could help you through the slump

Yes, they are open but only girls with permits can work.

Oh hun, believe me that was already happening. The place was already a full-on extras club with a rep for "what you can get away with" I don't think anything could possibly make it worse than it already was.

Never considered webcam but I've got some other irons in the fire. Some job prospects around my neighborhood that I am gonna check out on Monday and also maybe another club down the road. For the immediate moment, I am so done dancing.

god that was a good read. beautiful post. i would be glad too. that place sounds like the seedy, shady club that people think of when you say strip club. i'm always appalled when bouncers act as if they're more important than the dancers. Sounds like at that club dancers were on the lowest rung of the ladder. And LOL at the dumb little girls yelling at the cops. Try to have a normal life with prostitution related charges on your record lol. My friend got busted for doing extras, forgot what the charge was, but everytime she gets pulled over the cop brings it up. Can't really explain your way outta that one.

This is exactly why my BF's dad used to tell him "Don't get tattoos, it makes it easier for the cops to find you."

From a cold hard factual standpoint you were 'caught' dancing without a license in violation of the local anti-strip club ordinance. The fact that you were unaware of the necessity of obtaining a license falls under the old edict that 'ignorance of the law is no excuse'. Informing the DA / Court that you have danced at a different club in the same city without a license only serves as an admission that you are in fact a 'repeat offender'. Again I am not an attorney, but choosing to go to trial under your circumstances is probably going to result in two things ... a guilty verdict based on the facts, and a more severe penalty than a plea bargain.

As to having your dancer's license revoked in other jurisdictions, my guess is that these other jurisdictions will not be automatically informed thus your other licenses are not likely to be revoked. However, when it comes time to renew your other licenses, the existance of this charge / guilty verdict may pose a BIG problem.

So the club is still open? Unfortunately, this big bust will probably only serve to boost their business, as all the extras-seekers will likely flock to the place at the news of rampant law-breaking. yuck
Probably true ! Also, on the 'dirty dancer' side of things, it usually turns out that the dirtiest dancers are the ones that can afford to retain a well connected local attorney and actually 'beat' the charge ... whereas the cleanest dancers can't spare the several thousand dollars in necessary legal fees and will thus find themselves at the 'mercy' of the DA, the club's attorney (whose REAL client is of course the clubowner), or a public defender. As you imply, the usual result is that no charges filed against the clubowner ever stick, and the dirty dancers are able to go right back to work ... while the clean dancers are sidelined.

From personal experience, I was involved in one particular 'bogus' bust ... where I wasn't actually guilty of anything but was swept up with a bunch of other girls so the DA could get his 'big bust bust' headline just prior to election time. In order to finally beat the charge and have my record expunged required nearly $10,000 in legal fees + lost earnings for both the original local yokel trial and my filing of a successful appeal. But I really had no choice but to follow through since, at the time, I was dancing all over the country and could not handle the potential dancer's license problems had this 'bogus' charge been left on my record.

Sorry hon, RI clubs will NEVER get shut down for prostitution as they are not breaking the law there. My gf is here visiting from RI and we were talking about this last night. There's one clean club there for sure, maybe two as I don't know much about the Doll House but the rest are straight up whore houses. Go to CT or MA,

^Since when is prostitution legal in RI? I think someone is misinformed about whether those dirty clubs are breaking local laws.

CherryBomb, what I meant was, I'm thinking that club will wind up making more money after this bust because the news will bring the local pervs in even more. After an initial slow-down of course

I hope you find something else soon. Maybe you could go on a strip trip or something?
