    Question After The Baby

Due to serious financial issues, I need to return to dancing in a 4 to 5 week timeframe of my baby being born.

With this being my first child I do not have any idea as to what my body is going to look or feel like after delivery (with my baby being overdue, I may be induced this week).

Im not intending to be there nightly right off the bat, I was thinking more like 2 or 3 times a week.

I was just wondering can I even exercise during the first weeks after delivery, like walking on the tredmill? I only have access to the gym at my complex, so I am kind of limited. Also, I generally consume cereal for breakfast, 2 turkey sandwiches with mayo on wheat for lunch, and spagetti/rice/or chicken breast and a baked potato for dinner. Should I alter anything, or am I okay? I have an overall disdain for vegetables so they are next to never a part of meal plan.

I do drink water, but there is kool-aid and currently orange soda in my home although I do limit myself to 1 glass a day.

Trust me, if I could afford to stay home for months with my new little one I definitely would, but a lot of unexpected things have transpired in the last trimester that is forcing me to return before I would like to. Any suggestions on the weight loss scenario would be greatly apprieciated. Thanks so much for reading.

Also Im 5'8, I weighed 133lbs pre-pregnancy, and weigh 185lbs now (although no one believes that I gained that much.) but Im all baby for the most part.

With a 50+lb weight gain, I just don't see returning in 4-5 weeks being a realistic goal. (Sorry, I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it's better to know early than to be shocked when you don't immediately look like your former self.)

You will lose around 20lbs total when you deliver. It will be somewhat easier than normal to lose weight, but say you manage to lose another 10lbs over the month, that still means you are nearly 20lbs over your original weight...and well, things aren't going to be as tight as they were pre-pregnancy anyway, so that extra 20lbs may look more like 30-35.

If this helps any, I gained around 21-22lbs with my first son and my body wasn't ready to go back for at least 4-5 months (I did have a cesarean though, so that somewhat delayed my body's recovery).

Ask your Dr about excercise after the baby. Don't do anything without his approval, you can seriously harm yourself and delay your recovery even more. I believe that you can resume light exercise fairly quickly if you have a vaginal delivery, but make sure to follow your Dr's instructions.

Oh, I wasnt expecting to be 133lbs (as pictured) after four or five weeks, goodness no! In fact I think I was too skinny at that weight anyway. When I left dancing I was 150 lbs and 5 months pregnant ( I was only showing in my boobs!)

This is me last week, 4 days before my due date. Im currently 4 days after my due date now.

My doctor informed me that a lot of the weight gain was mainly excess fluid that had just run out places to go with my frame being so small.

Hmm... I guess I will no either way in a few days.

^^You don't look as if you have gained anywhere except the tummy in that pic and if that is the case you may be able to make it back in that time frame. Hopefully your Dr is right and a lot of it is just excess water weight. Most of that will be gone after delivery and the remaining shouldn't last more than a week or two (as long as you don't have to have a c-section). Also, I didn't ask your age, but I have heard that girls in their late teens/early 20's tend to lose the weight much faster. One thing that will help is to keep your house stocked with healthy easy to prepare snacks. You will be so tired at times after the birth, it will be tempting to just grab whatever is easiest (or just go to bed hungry..did that a few times too).

after reading your post and looking at your pictures, I think you will ok to return to stripping. Again, though, don't expect to look like your former self. That will probably take longer.

Add veggies and fruits. It will help with your recovery health-wise.

The stocking up on healthy snacks is a great idea. Anything is better than me wondering to the kitchen at 3am and eating slices of bread. Im definitely going to play it by ear and see how I feel and how well my little one is doing before trying to get back into my heels. If worse come to worse I will just find a day job that I can do for a little while.

Your diet might need some work! Sorry! I would cut the mayo out of the sandwiches. Use mustard instead. Green apples with peanut butter are a good snack. For dinner I would have chicken breast and salad or vegetables and go to bed a little hungry. I wouldn't eat the potato, rice, or spaghetti at night while trying to lose the baby weight. Don't drink the sugary drinks. The sugar raises your insulin which tells your body to start storing fat. Forget that!

Well my son was born via emergency c section last week. When I left the hospital I was 171 and today Im at 158. I guess sleep deprevatiion and lifting a 10lb baby counts as exercise to my body, I dunno.
So I guess I will just wait and see if anymore continues to come off on its own.

Congratulations! I hope the baby and you are well.

Maybe you can ask the club you work at if you can cocktail until your c-section recovery is complete and your belly has gone down.

Im below 150lbs today. I cant really tell what the exact number is for sure because its one of those old school scales and I only have one contact. Overall, I dont even look like I just had a baby so Im happy and surprised. I thought the weight would take a lot longer to come off.

My c-section scar is healing pretty well too. I do wish I had the okay to work out though, but it is what it is. So hopefully all will be well by the last week in the month so I lift some of this financial hell of my back.

I'm in the same boat. I was 132 before baby, I just started the third trimester and I'm now 164...however, I like you, am 5'8 and the weight is all baby, boobs and butt. I haven't bought any maternity clothes, I can still wear my pre-pregnancy jeans and everything. But I will be returning to the club about 4 wks after baby is born....but in a cashier position at first. Then as my body recovers, back to dancing.

It depends on how you feel I personally, was up an walking 20 mins after I delivered. And sex a week later but I had no tearing. I also gained only in my belly and it was all baby. Some tricks I was taught by my grandma ( who after 5 kids was a size small)

    1) Wear the smallest jeans you can fit into. It helps your hips to go back
    2) Ace bandage your stomach or those bands they give women that had C-sections. To help with skin flabbiness
    3) continue with your stretch mark regimen make sure to use vitamin E and Collagen/Elastin

    hope this helps and congrats

I have considered this but honestly Im not really sure how to make this work for me. I would love to work from home though but the risks concern me.

My stomach has pretty much returned to pre-pregnancy shape with the mild case of stretched skin of course and the stretch marks.

The stretch marks do make me a little self conscious about going back, cant lie. Dermablend isnt an option cause it always gets on my outfits. I still have until the end of the month, so we will see.

    ANYWAYS

I returned to work 3 weeks ago and my post baby body is getting rave reviews even though Im only down to 148lbs, but I guess I carry it well.

Whoever warned me about the money not being the best right now was on point, but Im thankful for every amount cause it could be worse. Although I have to say I have had some decent nights despite the reccession.

Im pretty much over the stretch marks and have just learned to embrace them as the exchange for my little one. The men clearly dont mind so why should I?

Thanks again to those who offered helpful advice. Im feeling good about being in my clear heels.

That's great! Glad everything is going well. If the stretchmarks bother you any just slather on some fake tanner. It's a miracle worker I swear by. Disguises flaws and makes everything look tighter taking a few lbs off your appearance. Dry body brushing before your bath and CLA also help firm up skin. Make sure to keep your c-section scar from UV exposure for the next 4 or 5 months or it can turn dark (if you tan use sunblock on it). Also, temporary tatoos are great to cover them when they get irritated or reddish (as mine did occasionally for the first year or so).

hehe, ok done with the know-it-all sounding dancing post-cesarian advice. I danced after 2 of em, so I learned a bunch of helpful little tips and love to share them.

Where would you recommend finding one???
I was all tummy during my pregnancies (also gained 50+lbs). My body went right back the following week. BUT, I'm left with wrinkly stretchy ugly belly. despite the fact I can do a million crunches and have great core strength.

Id love to find a cute outfit to cover where I need!!!

I am not dancing (only danced a few months YEARS ago), but I teach pole dance and would like to get some cute outfits.

    Princessjas,
Im going to research the CLA...Im not really to sure on the tanner situation since I was born with a natural one.
    Definitely some awesome suggestions though.

    Skittles01,

Thanks for the baby congratulations, its much apprieciated. I am no help with the corset situation, however I am currently using pure african shea butter and extra virgin olive oil and loofah to reduce the apperance of my stretch marks and I have noticed a difference.
Also for the past week I have doing reverse crunches and side bridges and cardio and it really helping to tighten my core and eliminate the saggy skin. Oh and Im trying to drink as much water as humanly possible and I do not eat fast/junk food. I even gave up my tortilla chips. I do drink when I work (3 nights a week) but I limit it to two drinks and I make sure I have 2 glasses of water per drink.
I intend to be looking really good by Halloween and phenomenal by Christmas.
You can get rid of the excess skin dont let anyone tell you different.
The worst they can say is no.
