Default How to last an 8 hr shift in the shoes?!

I worked my first shift on Friday and at the end of the night I was in horrible pain from wearing my Pleasers all night long. I bought shoe inserts but those didn't seem to help much in the long term. Is there any way around this? I would have been way more motivated to keep working the floor toward the end but I was so close to tears from those shoes!!! How do you girls do it?

we have cement floors, so my feet start crying if i abuse them after like 4 hours- not blisters, but the ball of my foot and stuff, and being in super high heels in general isn't exactly good for your feet or your body. what i found to help is to sit as much as possible, and always take off my shoes when doing dances- that makes a huge difference in how i feel after work.
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

Thanks for the replies girls I'm not sure of the name of the shoe but they're a basic pair of plastic heeled dance shoes with the ankile straps and pleather tops. I think the platform is 3 inches and the heel is maybe 5 or 6. We are also not allowed to take our shoes off during dances otherwise I'd force myself to get over the germiness just so i could rest my feet for a bit...I wish we could though because I'm still new and awkward in the shoes during dances because I'm trying to turn to face away from the customer and then back toward him in such a small space and I get wobbly!

I wore a pair of 8 1/2" Pleasers for 14 hours straight Friday. My feet were starting to ache towards the end, but nothing terrible. I guess you just have to find the right fit. Try a different brand or maybe just a different shoe size. I always buy the strapless ones and order them a size bigger. I use garters to secure them around my ankles...

You will get used to it, or try a shorter heel, or a slope that isn't as steep. I sometimes wear 8 inch heels and feel fine, gotta break it in too.

After my first night at work (when I had not yet acquired real stripper shoes, and had spent the whole shift in regular high heels), my entire body hurt miserably, including the feet. I got a pair of stripper shoes in time for my second shift, and I've never had a problem since then. Some nights they'll be a little bit sore at the end, but never anything bad. I used to be a hostess at a restaurant, and my feet would ache every single night, even after a 5 hour shift. I really, really think that my stripper shoes are the most comfortable shoes (not including tennis shoes) I've ever worn.

Yep. I was so sore when taking my shoes off my first few nights and I'm never bothered by it anymore. You can also get those gel things by dr scholls or whatever. But a lot of it is just breaking in the shoe.

Can you bring two pairs of shoes with a different heel length and switch them up? It helps because each pair of shoes will have different pressure points on your feet and help combat the soreness. When I used to work 12 hour shifts for promotional modeling we had to wear heels and would switch our shoes every couple of hours and it helped a lot.

First, make sure you have the correct size. The stripper shoes shouldn't hurt your feet like regular dress pumps will. You'll have to find different styles to try on and go with the style that works best for your foot. I used to wear this style:

And found it to be the best for the shape of my foot. Although I just loved the look of this style:

It caused me pain in the ball of my foot after a few hours. I would wear the second style for short periods of time and then switch back to the first style to get through the shift.

Gotta get yourself a good pair of shoes. They must fit properly. No sliding, no toe over hang, no straps that are too tight, and no working to keep them on your feet.

I have some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn and can be on the floor almost all night because of them. You won't believe the difference.

    Only read OPs post-

I've read on here, or heard somewhere else, to change styles shoes throughout the night. Different types of shoes w/different heights and platforms work and fatigue different muscles/areas of foot. This will help put less stress on the same areas all night. Sometimes I change halfway through the shift.

I started working last week, and I've found a way to cheat lol...
First, I got a pair of pleasers that are the knee-high combat boot style with the non-stiletto heels (I figured I'd just break my ankle without some support). Next, I wear gold-toe (the brand) athletic socks with the higher tops underneath them... it's not like anyone can tell. Also, Dr, Scholl's sells a super-squishy sole-insert specifically for high-heels that shifts your weight back off the balls of your feet.. I think they were about $9 at walmart. When my feet get a little tired, I sit down and talk to custies. All of this= less painful feet than I ever had waiting tables.
    Hope that helps!

I understand wanting to do this, but this is not really good advice for everyone, since many clubs have restaurants and etc. included, and taking your shoes off at any time can be considered a health code violation and get the club fined or shut down. It's an easy way for the local law to get rid of a club. Be careful!

Change shoes half way through your shift. I buy 2 identical pairs of every shoe- and haven't had any pain since I started.

Um I think you're feet eventually get used to them, I didn't dance for all that time and went right back to super high shoes without issues. So sorry that they hurt but they will get better!

i think you'll get used to them in time, but i've always found stretching my feet helps. I used to have tendonitis in one foot and stretching was the only thing that helped. After a shift, or if i'm taking a break, i'll take my shoes off, and do the following: rotate the foot at the ankle both clockwise and counterclockwise, then splay your toes as far as you can, then clench your feet as hard as you can. All this loosens the muscles and once i started doing it regular the tendonitis cleared up. Also, any boyfriends i've had are required to give me regular foot rubs!
