Yeah, they basically strip the enamel off your teeth. Try brushing with coconut oil after regular brushing..it's actually a mild bleach. I have wicked sensative teeth and it works great.

They hurt my teeth, too--I just used them once a day (instead of twice) and I skipped a day if my teeth were really sore. It took me months, but I eventually got through the whole pack.
And that's cool about the coconut oil! that stuff is AMAZING.
I just wanted to try use the ones I have since I already bought them but after this pack ill probably invest in those ones. I heard good reviews about sensodyne too, thx.
So I shouldnt use them? I have some coconut oil in..how long does it take to make a difference?
Do you think the pain was worth the result..how long do they stay white for?
Also you say coconut oil is amaing lol what do you use it for? I have some in but I never use it for anything..I had planned to condition my hair with it but never got round to it.
I also get sensitivity from the white strips. I usually just try to space it out to every few days or so (especially since I really only use them for touch-ups now). In the beginning, I went ten days straight, twice a day. I could barely open my mouth to talk because my teeth were so sensitive to the cold air...ibuprofen helped a little.

OMG Coconut Oil!! I use that for a whole bunch of stuff--I get a big jar of nice, pure virgin coconut oil--around 5-8 bucks depending on brand and quality, make sure it's pure coconut and not mixed with anything; one jar lasts for 6 months or more!
Uses of pure coconut oil:
1. Dry skin, especially if your skin is sensitive. I use it on my elbows, knees and heels.
2. Hair dressing or pomade--if your hair is damaged, colored, dry, etc. A tiny bit goes a long way when you comb it through and adds tons of shine.
3. Deep conditioning for hair--rinse, shampoo, rinse again.
4. Cuticle treatment
5. As a base for salves or ointments
6. As SCR333X noted, a gentle tooth whitener! (I like combining this with a weekly baking-soda-peroxide brushing. Also, clove oil is good for sensitive teeth and pain from gum disease.)
7. COOKING. Virgin coconut oil is incredibly good for you! it's great on rice, in curries, stir fry, all kinds of stuff. It cooks at a nice high temperature but is healthier than peanut or canola oil, with lots of those good Omega-3 and-6's. Plus a lot of the good stuff is sustainably farmed and fairly traded.
Yaaaaay, coconut oil!
thanks for the list of uses, it says 'pure coconut oil' on the front of it so yay!
woah I couldnt imgine using them so much it gets to that point... Im sure the fact they cause so much sensitivity means they really cant be good for your teeth? Do you have any problems now? Has your dentist said anything?

If you use sensodyne for at least two weeks before trying the strips again, and continue using it while you use the strips, it will seriously cut down on your sensitivity.
Whatever you do...don't go and get Zoom Whitening.
After trying Crest white strips with no success, last year I decided to shell out 250 bucks for the zoom whitening procedure. Went to a dentist and they flashed this light on my teeth for three fifteen minute periods. My god, it was some of the worst pain I've ever experienced. I stuck through it though... The dentist gave me 4 asprin and still, the entire rest of the day, I was in tears from the searing pain. My teeth even now are much more sensitive than they used to be.
It does work...my teeth were really really white, but I just can't bring myself to go back again...

I can't use those at all my teeth fucking suck they're way too sensitive

Depending on how much you want to lighten your teeth, I noticed a difference in a day or too..Nothing long term haha.

Hi!
Thanks for the information about the coconut oil...one question, do people brush with it alone or make a paste with the baking soda? I did some research on the internet about this and have found several sites with recipes for brushing that mix equal parts coconut oil, baking soda, and water.
Any thoughts?

Damn I didnt know those strips make your hurt.Screw that.
My sister did the whitening with the trays and gel. In the end they looked really good but she had alot of cavities afterwards.

But before she never had cavities even when she had braces, I was thinking the teeth whitening made her teeth a little more susceptable to them. But hey who knows.

I've always wanted to make a paste of coconut oil and baking soda. I used to have a seperate tooth brush for the coconut oil then I got lazy. All you do is just brush your teeth as you usually would, and then after you rinse just brush on the coconut oil and rinse. It turns to a liquid at 75(if memory serves..) and will turn to a solid anything below that. I'm paranoid and have shitty pipes so I don't spit down the sink, I just spit into toilet paper and throw it out. Certainly brush with the baking soda mix if you'd like. Rinsing with coconut oil is good too, just swish it around like mouthwash. It kills bacteria and whitens the teeth just as well as brushing would.

I am glad someone started this thread b/c I never knew about Coconut oil doing that. My husband has yellowing teeth and refuses to use whitening strips, but maybe he'll try the c. oil.
