    Default $140 house fee?

This is my house fee but I haven't danced before so I'm not sure if it's high or not. I know in general a club won't have a higher house fee than the girls can make but another club in the area has a $50 house fee every night, my club is $140 Fri-Sat and $90 Tues-Thurs. I am a newbie and have only worked one shift...if my house hadn't been free on my first shift I would have owed them money! I would feel better about it if we just paid house and then got to keep everything else but the club still takes $5 from a $30 dance and $10 from a $40 dance in addition to house, and then takes 10% of all of our leftover money after house has been taken out and divides that among the floor staff. Tips to valet and house mom arent included in that 10% tip out to the staff though. I'm still trying to learn how to hustle and I'm worried that when I go back on Wednesday I won't make my house. Should I stick it out or should I consider looking for a club with a lower house fee? Does this seem normal or are they taking advantage of me? I want to learn to hustle better but I can't afford to pay money out of my pocket to work there while I wait to get better

Personally, I think any house fee is highway robbery, but this does seem a bit steep. What is the potential in this club? Do you have any idea what the other girls might be making by guessing how many rooms the girls sell a night?

If it seems like the average in this club could be around $1000 a night, then the house fee is reasonable. But if the average is less than $500 a night, then the house fee is inflated and you should look for another club to work for that doesn't rip off the dancers.

That's what I'm not sure of, there were girls going in and out of the VIP area all night selling dances...BUT my club has no booze, so we have no champagne rooms. We still sell VIPs by the hour for $450 but if I was a man I would go to another club and pay a little bit more to at least get some booze out of it. That's just me though. I know I can't ask the other girls what they've been making nor would I, but i do think the house fee is steep. I guess I'll have to work on my hustle so stripping doesn't make me go broke!

my club doesnt sell booze either, but i still manage to sell a ton of CRs.

The house fee does seem high, but if the $$ is good then no biggie.

Depends on how much you're making. That house fee would be insanely high for me bc I work in a dive and the money just isn't there for me to be able to pay them that much.

If you're making good money at this place, while it still seems a bit on the high side, if you can cover it, it's also not a big deal (ie. making $1000 and paying them $140 doesn't cut that deep).

It sounds like this is a higher end club, and they tend to charge more (a lot more) so $140 is not unheard of. this however is a problem if you're a newbie, since chances are you might not make it back. YOu might want to try a cheaper club for a month or so, just to get the hang of things.
These days I like to count my money. I like to wash it delicately and iron it. Sometimes I dry it with some bounty to make it all nice and cuddly. I love my money... did I say that out loud?

Ok, I see your trouble. Don't pre-judge what a customer wants to pay for something based on your own perceptions of what the value of an item is supposed to be. $450 an hour sounds like a good rate for VIP, and the customers at this club know and expect to pay for that kind of show.

As a customer, it bugs the crap out of me when the sales person acts like something I want to buy is too expensive. It is almost as if he/she doesn't want to sell me something because he/she doesn't see the value of the item I want.

Never, never, never assume that a customer doesn't want the expensive VIP show! It is much easier to work your way down in price than it is to work your way up. If you hit him with the $450 room fee right out of the gate, and he says that is too rich for his tastes, then offer the $40 room. In comparison it sounds like a bargain and he won't be expecting as much action on the $40 show as compared to the $450.

Besides, if your salary is $15,000.00 a month, what's $450? Pocket change! Booze or no, the customer is happy to spend more for the sheer knowledge that he can.

I definitely would never purposely give the customer the idea that I thought $450 was a lot to pay for a champagne-less champage room...it's their money I'm after in the end so whether or not I think it's too expensive or a good deal shouldn't have any relevance on their decision to purchase a CR with me because it's my job to make them think it's the best way they could be spending their money. I think I may have worded that incorrectly...I just don't know how popular VIP/CR's at this club are. Our VIP area is on a little raised platform with a few couches so there isn't much privacy and I didn't see any girls in there for longer than a few songs, but again I only worked one night and the high rollers may have not been in the club that particular evening. I know it's my job to make guys think they are getting their money's worth for spending any amount of money on me (especially since I have that house fee to make every night) I just really have no idea how to hustle yet and I'm trying to figure out how to sell more than four dances all night before I try to get anybody into VIP for an hour.

If it's the club I think, they rip off dancers. I've heard they are never exceptionally busy and really scam the dancers. I think $140 is excessive, but then again I started dancing when $20 was common and $50 was high.

I'd check into other nearby clubs (there are quite a few not too far).

this club sounds ridiculous, esp for a newbie. my club's vip is 440 an hour and 60 for house. there's definitely good and bad nights but on a bad night, it would be hard to make anything with that house fee!! imo, a club with a high house fee should not take any more from the dancer.. ie from private dances.

Yes I agree Heatherette, I originally thought they only took $140 but then when I found out how much extra they take from dances and for tip out I was a little put off. I hope I don't end up owing them tons of money while I learn the ropes :/

I'm going in to work again tomorrow like I was scheduled and if I don't end up making my house fee I think I'm going to try to look elsewhere. I still have a day job so I don't desperately need the money right now but it wouldn't hurt either!

My club charges $140 a night regardless of the hours you work. It's fine because they do not take any money from our dances and tip out is not mandatory. I would absolutely never work in a club that had a high house fee in addition to dance payout unless I was averaging $1,500+ a night. Anything less than that is a complete rip off. I'd find a new club in the area because $1,500 will probably not be the norm for each shift; even $1,000 with dance fees and house fees is outrageous because you'll end up leaving with under $700.

CR room is too low for how much they take from the dancers.

It depends on what area you work and how well your club is managed.

Do the owners bring in or facilitate for a high customer turn out?

What is the cost of living or housing median in your area?

House in Seattle is $70 to $130+.

    In 2007 the housing median was around $450K-500. 2009 it's $350K.

There is money in the area so the clubs and girls justify high fees.

Sounds like you should go to the lower rent clubs, learn to hustle, and then maybe, MAYBE try that club again. However, those fees sound like a huge rip-off. I started at a club where house was 150, and then they took 33% of VIP room. I made OK money there, but only because I had a fetishist regular. If I hadn't I MAYBE would have walked with 200-300 average nightly.

At my current club we pay a flat fee, and they take 15% if funny money (but if credit card gets reneged, we still keep our money), and that's it. Tipping isn't mandatory (although it's obviously a good idea to keep floor managers bringing you to customers), and if the club charged more than what it did I would just be driving to my traveling club to work there more.

Seriously, go to the lower rent club. I bet that you'll make more money there, partly because you won't be freaking out about making such a high house fee.
