Default When you like what you do...

When you like what you do... the money comes freely. Fun begets more fun, activity breeds activity.

I've had a really great week and a half and thought I'd share. Not just money wise, but it seems like everything is all falling into place.

Friday was fabulous, I was in demand for dances all night and had the dj on the mic looking for me for customer requests! All I was doing was this:

1: Go up to the customer, and greet them.
2: Introduce yourself and tell them you are glad they are there and you'll check back after they've settled in. Maybe chat for a minute, but appear busy and as if you have to go somewhere.
3: Keep your eye on them, and ACTUALLY GO BACK!

Seriously. As much as we like to think it's all about us, this is still a Customer Service and Sales job.
We are providing them with companionship, intimacy on a level, therapy and a show.

I think back to what I always thought a "stripper" should be, a superhuman, classy, intelligent sex goddess who I was lucky to be able to talk to, and the more I've tried to look and act like that, the more in demand I've been. I've had almost every guy I've talked to thank me for not dumbing myself down, and for actually being able to finish a sentence!

Funny enough, the more energy and effort I put into my outfits, look and personal appearance, the more I like the job! I had someone in the VIP area the other night ask me how much dances were, I told him $25. He said " in this economy?! they should be cheaper!" I told him "I'm not cheap, why should my dances be?" He asked about extras. I said this to him:

"I'm sure there are girls in any club who would be happy to oblige you, however, I'm not one of them. " He then thanked me, because he was buying for his table (5 guys, one girl) and didn't want anything dirty happening. They spent A LOT of money on me that night.

    My point is this:

    - Act like you're having fun, and eventually you will be
    - It IS possible to make money being clean, barely drinking, not doing drugs, and not acting "dumb"
    - If you think you aren't worth the money, or that you "Can't make it", you won't.

    And please, remember this.

Our customers pick us, but We Also Pick Them. If you're uncomfortable in a situation, there's not enough money in the world to make it worthwhile. I choose all my customers. If something happens that I don't like, I make the choice to walk away. I'm worth it, and so are you.

Right now I have stopped dancing (alot of reasons) and am looking for a "real" job at a heated pace. I have had a few bites so I should be back to the "normal" workforce soon.

I am actually looking forward to going back to dancing part-time again in the future.....Why? Because it will be fun again. No more deadlines ("OMG I have to make $200 tonight to pay my past due electric bill")....for example. I will have a steady paycheck to depend on and having a shitty night won't be the end of the world.

I regret the fact that things got so bad around here I stopped having fun, stopped making money and had to make this choice. I am not exactly fired up about going back to work but it's crunchtime and one has to do what they gotta do. If I had a choice things would be like they were when I first started. $700 dollar nights and having a blast all the time, going on vacation spontaneously and shopping. Times have changed, though, and so has the economy........and I give props to all the girls out there still dancing full time, having fun and making a killing.

Yay for customer service and sales! Too bad it doesn't work very well on a resume
I'm learning how to be a personal trainer right now and some of these elements transfer quite nicely, but I would never be able to tell prospective employers at gyms how I learned my sales and customer service skills, lol...

Great tips. I totally agree -- especially with making sure you look like you're having fun.

One night, I was TRULY having a blast -- my best girl friend works at my club, and my ex-boyfriend had come in (we have an incredibly great friendship) and I was hanging with the two of them, laughing hysterically and having a great time. It was about 1:45 a.m. and the club was about to close anyway, and I was having so much fun with them that I just said screw it and didn't ask for that last dance for the final song...

    but then.

A guy came up to me, tugged on my arm to get my attention and said, "Can I PLEASE have a dance from you? You look like you are having SO much fun!" So I got another dance without even trying because I was really enjoying myself and he could tell.

I know that must be hard if you're relying on stripping for rent/bills (I am not, as I have a day job, I'm saving for an overseas trip), but if you can just put yourself in that mindset, you will be that much more appealing.

I do think it's important to have another job, even just something you do one day a week, so you can keep perspective, and have an income source that's something other than dancing.

When I quit dancing for 6 months to do a dayjob full time I really really missed dancing, and couldn't wait to get back to it. Now that I'm back I'm glad I have a lot of other irons in the fire.

Cherrybomb - I read about your club getting raided and I'm so glad for you that you're out of that situation. That just sounded horrible, and hopefully the bad ones get what they deserve.

Hope you all enjoyed a positive thread for once! It seemed like there were a TON of negative ones here, so maybe we could enjoy one about good things.
