    Skull Anxiety & Exotic Dance

As you read on the title you probably have an Idea about what this thread Is going to be about... I have G.A.D., (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) but I don't let It hold me back from anything. Some of you may know what I'm talking about, some may be like WTF is that? lol Basically I over-worrie, & sometimes have uncontrollable panic.

I was just curious to know If any of you dance, and have this disorder also?
I've always loved dance, & plan to soon become an exotic dancer... I was wondering, If you do have this, Is It very difficult for you? or nothing you can't handle?

Guess I'm looking for Inspiration... IDK lol

Il be honest it's very up and down for me, sometimes I'm ok but sometimes it will completely ruin my night and I have to leave early. It's better now Im on medication but it can still be difficult at times. I actually found it easier in the beginning when it was still an exciting novelty. What gets me through the really anxious nights is pairing up with a good friend who understands my anxiety and will do most of the talking, drag me around and not let me have time to think too much. It's probably not an ideal job for me with my anxiety but the reason I continue is because I love dancing and don't want to let the anxiety win.

I'll be 100% honest with you, it has nothing to do with being "strong". I'm a strong person, and I have GAD along with some OCD and I can tell you that dancing has, without a doubt, made my GAD worse. That's not to say you -can't- do it... but you will have to be careful and manage your disorder. I tried to ignore mine and deny it's effect on me for years while dancing. Now I'm tackling it, but dancing surely complicates it.

Then again, MOST high stress jobs will.

Some jobs just cause more anxiety than others and well, if you have an anxiety disorder to begin with, of course it's not going to help.

I know this, & appreciate your honesty, <3 but, I also feel that If I get up there and do something that I've set to do even with the little bit of doubt caused by my G.A.D., then It's going to give me accomplishment. They always say to rid fear, face it... I just wanted to see If anyone actually has experienced this type of accomplishment, even with this disorder. I think If really, deep inside, no matter what the f* Is wrong with you, If you really love doing something, then don't let anything try to ruin It, even If It does get you down @ times! Maybe that's how I need to look @ it. LOL.

I have anxiety and it's mostly school related which is weird. I'm pretty sure I was diagnosed with G.A.D but not social anxiety. I basically can worry over the strangest things if I feel trapped somewhere like a classroom I break out into a panic but I never had a problem being out socializing. It probably all depends on what makes you anxious. It sounds like you have a great attitude about it! Pushing yourself to dance and be in an environment that forces you to talk to people might be a good experience. Some therapist recommend that type of thing for treating phobias. You can always try it and if stripping starts to effect you negatively then you can quit. Just don't try to cope with alcohol or drugs if it does bring out your anxiety. Good luck with everything!

Well babe aren't you lucky! haha. I worry bout anything, everything, and could probably have phobias about anything n everything . That's what I was thinking to, like facing It daily, and when I would achieve something that I thought I never would, It would be rewarding to me, and help build some more confidence. I'm just wishing someone was on here to say that they have done just that hehe. Maybe I will be the first to share a story like that!! lol how stripping helped my G.A.D.
    Thanks for your input girl.
