Just wondering.
Hate it, think i will quit (or already have)
Just tolerate it for the money
Eh, it's a job, better than others I could get
I actually like it most days
Love it! I would do it for free (sometimes)! Wheee!!!

Just wondering.

Ask me again in a couple of days and I might change my mind.
XoXo Gia
Danielle Fishell (the Dish): "If the Super-Star thing doesn't work out, Gia makes a great stripper name"

I voted "Love it! I would do it for free (sometimes)! Wheee!!!" as I have to pay.

im somewhere between "like it" and "its better than other jobs i could get". though i have my occational "love it, would do it for free moments".

I actually voted for "Love it and would sometimes do it for free." Stripping is SO MUCH FUN. Sure, I have bad days and good days - drama, bullshit, annoying cuties ... but it's all part of it. It wouldn't be fun for me without all the drama.
I haven't been dancing lately - some issues with my club among other things - but I've been seriously considering heading back to an old club where the money is pretty crappy just because I miss dancing so much. I'll do it one night a week or so - just to have a good time. Money be damned.![]()
"The mood is important. You can't get a lady with force.
...sweet things alone are not enough. Seduce me with more fire."
I absolutely loved stage performing! I not only would do it for free, but would pay to enter competitions just for the fun of it.
OTOH, Lap dancing is drudgery. It's boring and sometimes even painful (repetitive motion injury). I guess every job has it's fun aspects and it's boring aspects, though.
Promote yourself and earn more money! This is a business that is owned by strippers for strippers. Let's make that money!

I love the stage. I love dancing. I love being naked. I even love dancing for SOME customers.
However, the current amount of cheap/handsy/rude customers, the lack of money available, and the decreased interest in "stage performance" combine and cause my answer to be "I tolerate it".
I would honestly rather just do shows, even if they were explicit, and get paid a flat rate.
I just want to entertain people. I don't want to be someone's pretend girlfriend. I don't want to be mauled and manhandled. I don't want to play some bullshit head-game. etc.
I miss the art of tease and seduction.![]()

I know. I was always in love with the burlesque and pin-up scene. I had some sort of delusional idea that it might still kinda-sorta be like that (this was 4+ years ago when I started).
I quickly learned I was incorrect.

I have a thing for pin-up girls. I guess I was born in the wrong era too.
On a separate note: I am just delighted to learn that so many of you ladies would prefer stage dancing to lap dancing.

Adding:
I did a poll like this once that asked how the dancer felt about the job -and- how long she had been dancing. The general trend was that there was a decrease in happiness about stripping the longer a girl danced. Of course, that wasn't true for everyone. There are quite a few girls on this board who've been dancing for years and still love it. I just think that "overall" you'll find the amount of dissatisfaction increases with time for many dancers. It's the whole reason we use that "burn out" phase so often.

i wouldnt say dissatisfaction is proportional to contact. i would say it is to dealing with customer's bullshit, whether that be excessive contact, expecting too much for too little, or ridiculous drama mind games.

^^
asking/ nagging for dates (both paid and unpaid), trying to fuck with the girl's heads or put them down just to make themselves feel better, expecting too much for too little (im not just talking contact, i mean asking for or expecting straight out extras during a lap dance or wanting to touch/grope out on the floor for free), sitting at the tip rail and not tipping, in general being timewasting broke ass idiots, etc etc i could go on.
but yeah, contact is not the main problem for me, provided it is paid for and in the appropriate places.

my thoughts exactly.
stage dancing = ok, and sometimes even kind of fun (although there are still cheap asses who try to grab you onstage and refuse to tip $1, so even that is wearing my patience down these days).
Hustling, talking to customers, listening to all their dirty bullshit, having to be fake and pretend I give a shit, giving lapdances (aka being mauled and assaulted, basically)...![]()
![]()
I tolerate it, but only b/c I'm working at a club that is mostly stage. If I had to dance in a typical lapdance club again...well, I wouldn't. I'd panhandle in a bus station before I'd go back to that.

I do enjoy performing in front of people. I think it's important to take a break every now and then so you don't get burnt out.![]()

There's a club down my ways that does a "burlesque-inspired" style night once a month. They remove the pole from the main stage, girls don't go topless (pasties if they take off their tops), and the girls wear nicer costumes. Some even sing. One is even goodThese are more performances and routines. There's even a group of girls that does choreographed sets.
They don't push dances at all. The girls can if they want, but the club doesn't announce them. The club goes back to "normal" at midnight, but some girls show up just for the chance to perform.

I love stripping on the good days and I loathe it more than anything on the bad days.
