Duh I did REALLY bad lol...

I went to amateur night last night and I was supposed to sell drinks and dances up until the contest... but I was too shy to approach anyone and I followed my dancer friend around like a lost puppy.

Then for the contest, I picked maybe the worst song ever, Heirate Mich by Rammstein, and everyone else did rap songs. Then when I got onstage I kinda froze up and did a lot of rolling around and humping the air and I made $1 which came from a dancer. I felt like I was in some kind of nightmare. My whole body was burning from blushing so bad. I actually got booed. I was pretty aggrivated, so when we all came out to dance together at the end, I did the Macarena. When it was over I wanted to cry.

However, after about half an hour I felt okay enough and decided to keep trying, and ask for a job, and the manager told me to come back today to fill out paperwork. He didn't hesitate, so I guess that's good.

Do you guys think I'll get the hang of this? There's a $30 house fee so I have to make money tonight. Any tips on how to approach people when you're so shy you're afraid nothing will come out when you try to talk?

Honestly, you may not wanna start tonight, Friday and Sat nights are usually the busiest. There's really not much to getting on stage, just watch what the other girls are doing, and move slowly. I personally like your choice in music, I don't about Kentucky but I know the places I have worked if you dance to hip hop you usually will attract wanna be gangstas (with no money) or, black and hispanic guys (but that depends on your body type also). These guys can be great customers for the right girl, and it's kind of hard for me to tell from a photo of your face but I feel like you probably don't have the curviest figure. So, what I'm trying to say is, dance to the music you like (unless it's something really out there), because it will fit you better than trying to conform to what everyone else is doing.

As far as approaching guys, just get over the nerves. I brought a friend from school to a club with me once and she had the same problem. She did OK on stage but then wouldn't approach people. I stuck her in the corner with a reg. while I went to hustle. He tipped her and with what she made on stage, she left with about $90. I made $450. So, you have to get over the nerves to make bank.

Just smile and say hi and ask if anyone is sitting there. (Or don't, I usually just sit- if they're "waiting for someone" or want me to leave for some other reason they will usually say so.) Have natural conversation. Ask questions about them, then after a few songs ask if they want a dance.

Um as far as the house fees goes, many clubs waive it for new dancers for the first few nights so don't stress your self abpout making money to pay house, otherwise you're nerves will get the best of you. Just have fun and try to relax! Good luck. Oh and read hustle hut, there's a lot of info in there.,

Girl. Geez. I would have been embarrassed too.

Let me give you some basic stage tips:

+ SLOW IT DOWN. Even if it's a fast song don't try to keep up. Focus on moving slowly and sensually.
+ Smile a ton. It helps make you seem approachable.
+ Get your shoes capped. It will make it easier for you to dance in at first.
+ When you do floor, don't just roll around.
+ When you say air humping, I'm getting a really strange visual. I would say ixnay that.

    Here's some good informational watching:

Errrr, by air humping I mean that thing where you're on your elbows and toes facing upward and you roll your hips. And where you're on your knees and forearms facing down with your back arched and you shake your butt... i also flipped backwards and then crawled forward and i think i was going slow... it's all stuff they do but it was really sloppy and it felt like after that i just ran out of ideas... ugh it was so messy.

Thanks for the help though. I'm still super nervous. If I don't make money tonight I won't have gas to get there again either. >.<

It doesn't seem nearly as bad as some of the sets i've seen by experienced strippers. just watch the girls. have a play while the club is empty/dead and have fun. i've done the shopping trolley, sprinkler and the lawnmower to rock lobster and gotten more tips than i could count. It doesn't have to be sexy, just look like you're having fun.

Hopefully things went better for you the second time around! Just hang around and watch how the girls dance, then go home and practice. Maybe ask your friend for some critiques.

practice at home before you go work.

If you are that nervous, I would start on a weeknight when it is a bit slower.

    Good luck whatever you do!

I did a little better last night. I was less nervous and not so freezy and roll-aroundy some customers that my dancer friend knows came in and tipped me $28 on stage... but that was all I made all night. The club was pretty dead. I spent most of the night talking to the guys who tipped me, and I still couldn't stop just following my friend. The house fee was only $3 for my first night. I'm going back tonight because it should be really busy... there's a feature. Maybe I can at least get a couple drinks and loosen up. I'm going to make myself approach people even if it's awkward and horrible lol... cause I don't want to owe money. Ahhhh!

    And I am soooo sore.

Think positive hun. some of the girls where I work arent the best on stage (neither am I, I still hate it) but make money out of dances, sit downs etc through sheer confidence, positivity and smiliness (probably not even a word but you know what I mean!)

I'm so glad I didn't have to do amateur night at my first club, lol. I went at 5 in the afternoon and there was one customer. It was awesome.

Be proud of yourself for getting through it! Shows you have the balls to be a good stripper

Even if things go badly, its good to stay positive. Learn from the mistakes you made. Its an awesome sign that even though you feel it didnt go so well you kept it up. Some would run away and pretend it never happened.

Like audrey_k wrote, you clearly have the balls to be a good stripper!
