Dizzy Hairlocs extensions - Need your help!

I got my Hairlocs extensions installed on May 19th. (These are the micro-link ones for those of you that aren't familiar). So far I absolutely love the method, I have only had one piece slip in 2 months. But the hair they used is SO shitty! It's ultra dry, always knotted up, and everytime I brush it all these little bits and pieces of breakage come out. I brush my hair very gently and use 909 magic spray so I'm not just tearing through the hair..

Hairlocs requires you to only use the hair that they supply, which is supposedly European hair of the "highest quality", but it is awful! I've already trimmed off an inch or so of damage and it still feels like straw. From the get-go I used special shampoo and conditioner, bathed it in Moroccan oil and Phytonectar. I keep blowdrying and curling to a minimum. I have come to the conclusion that it's just bad hair!

I have already spent $2,000 on this hair and am quite hesistant to go drop another couple hundred to get them moved up and then just have to buy new hair in another couple months because this batch is so weak. I'm thinking about just getting them taken out and trying protein bonds or sew-in extensions.

Can anyone recommend a good website to buy Indian Remy hair from? What hair extension method besides Hairlocs have you found to be comfortable and not too damaging to the hair?

Thanks so much in advance, you ladies rock.

I use www.amorehair.com.au but www.beverlymay.com.au is equally good. European hair is meant to be softer than Indian hair. I think Remy just means that all the strands are facing the right way, that is that their cuticle correct.
The price you paid seems excessive and the good hair is not meant to behave like that. Take it back if you can. Like you I got totally ripped off the first time I got extensions, the hair I got then was as coarse as horse hair and it frizzed even though I drenched it in frizz ease/coconut oil over night.
Lastly, don't leave two months in between moving the extensions up, I get then moved up every 4-5 weeks max, on the other hand I've had the same hair extensions close to a year, whereas before I had the keratin tip glue ones, which were harsh to remove (they use acetone to melt the glue) and I had to buy a new hair every three moths so hugely expensive in comparison.

Ughh I hate how nearly everyone makes out they use the best quality hair but its all crap lol. Remi just means its real human hair..so basically it doesnt mean anything. Look for the word virgin in the description and prefferably hair that still has the cuticle , I use Bohyme Remi Euro Silky but I get it from a shop here (In england) So that doesnt help but thats the only place I trust that theyre selling what theyre saying so far.

I have micro-links but i did not have to buy the hair from the site. I am in atlanta, so ther are a ton of hair/beauty supply stores. The girl who does mine just uses the little beads and says you can use I-tip keratin type extensions because the bead will usually fit around it. That way, I was able to go to the store and pick out which one I wanted. I like Lord and Cliff. They have a website you can order from. I have had them for only two weeks, only lost two so far but the hair never gets gross.

Try using a loop brush as well ,it doesnt tangle.

Also, above poster is right..you need to get them moved up in 4-6 weeks.

Good luck! I love micro links so far. My hair chick told me that my hair would do well with keratin but I am so afraid of having damage and getting the "daisy of love" puffball bad weave effect.

Dont get sew ins! bad idea!

You dont have to buy i-tipped hair right away. I ALWAYS put it in micro links extensions and my lady uses So-Cap hair. It comes keratin tipped but she cuts that off, splits the strand into 2 (my hair is thin) and makes them i-tipped herself with a new bond. I absolutely loved so-cap hair. It's soft, very manageable and easily brushed. I straightened them out every other day and used a curler once a while. They last for about 10 weeks without moving up. I lost about 10 strands but I would come back to the lady and she would put in extra ones for me for free.
I'm also going to agree that micro links are sooooo much better than "glue". No matter waht you call it, keratin, bond, silicone... it's glue ladies!! I did it once and never again!

Ugh. I paid ridiculous money for the same brand, Hairlocs, with the same problems as you! They rave about their hair quality, but it sucks. Ive had every type of hair extension, and the best quality hair I have found that uses micro links is the Dream Catcher Paris Hilton brand ones, believe it or not. That quality of hair was amazing! It lasted forever, stayed soft, didn't tangle, and would hold however I styled it without hair spray. It was dream hair.

I wanted to add that I too have used Lord and Cliff, and I still like the Dream Catcher brand hair wayyyyyy better. I used to think Lord and Cliff was pretty good though. To the OP, if your hair is at all fine texture, stay far away from Indian hair, it's thicker and coarser than other ones. I also second the loop brush, that is a good investment.

You have to find someone certified to do those specific hair extensions, then contact them and just buy the hair. That is, if you want to do them yourself, or have someone else do them. I think it is Scandanavian hair. I have tried Indian, Russian, Spanish, Scan, and then the cheap milky way brand too lol! Scandanavian is the best so far for me!
