Default thinkin about quitting/taking a break

k i'll keep this short.. i'm a new dancer and the last couple times i've gone in i havent made any money. i have only made stage tips not a single dance. i approach everyone and ask for dances so its not that i'm lazy. i am a bigger/thicker dancer, and i look huge next to girls that are like 100 lbs. i need to tone a little and all my weight is in my hip area. i couldnt pay house fee last nite (30! geez i suck) and the djs wont accept my meager attempts at tipping. im not making the club any money, the mngrs think i'll do fine if i stick with it but i feel bad not being able to even tip the djs who try really hard to make me look good on stage. i have rythym and the other girls say i look like ive been dancing for a few months (and better than some girls who've been there even longer) (the only happy part of this post). i also do webcamming and in 1 hour i made more than my 12 hours dancing.
sooo my question is this- do i keep dancing to get experience or do i quit and just focus on webcamming and try dancing again when i lose more weight? oh and the club is dead, none of the girls are making very much.
    thx for listening...

    Oh hun :-(
Sounds like you've already made up your mind. I think its tough for everyone at the moment but if you feel like you can't hack it perhaps its not the job for you?

It is great you are making money webcamming. It is slow every where right now. If the house fees are too high maybe you should take a break from you current club and find a place that is more reasonable. That's if you really enjoy dancing. If you feel like you are wasting your time and money (by paying out the club) just take a break until the fall. It can't hurt to hit the gym and tone up but I doubt your weight is a real issue. Guys like a variety of shapes. I'm skinny and on more then one occasion a customer has felt the need to tell me to go eat something lol. Your confidence might be hurting you if you are constantly comparing yourself to other girls. If you really want to strip stick with it. Go check out other clubs if you have to hand see if they are busier and what their house fees are like. Also summers are bad so you could either just wait this one out or take a break until fall. Best of luck!

I would say, like me you may need a change of scenery. I was a dancer as well, took a 2 year break when I got into camming and it took off. Now I am having hard times on cam and want to get back into dancing. A change of scenery may be all you need. Since you do have a second form of income at least it is a bit less stressful then depending on only dancing, if you dont want to give up dancing fully, id suggest maybe working a new club in your area. you are not limited to sticking with only one. remember that. It may be scary to move on from a place u are comfy with, but if you arent making any money then you must move on and find the place for you.

ps your weight is not the issue. No matter what shape or size you are there will be a guy that finds you attractive. As you see with camming.

thx so much for the advice! i *really* do appreciate everything that was said. it is true my confidence is hurting me, i love being on stage and talking to guys (unless they're telling me the only reason im nice to look at is cuz of my boobs) (grrrr). it really throws me into a funk when a guy sits down, looks at me on stage and leaves literally 5 seconds after i start my set. but the 1 time i was realy engaging a guy in convo and dragged him to the tiprail when i was up he made it rain when i was really workin it for him. it made me feel great to feel dollars finally falling on me. that is until i counted it- $4 LOL! i thought it was hilarious and pathetic all at the same time.
so now how do i tell the club i'm quitting? they gave me a key to work the dance machines so i need to go back to return that. im so nervous they're going to yell at me. plus i signed up to work tomorrow pm shift and sat day shift. do i work those even tho i want to leave? i want to be professional about this.
    thx again everyone

If they yell at their dancers, prob not the best place to work anyways, girl. Be professional. Girls come and go out of places like these every day. And most importantly be honest. Tell them you simply need a break but when it is over you would like to come back (if you do) Don't burn the bridge. However if they yell at you, etc I would def burn the bridge and even make a compalint to BBB.

If you are under a contract to work the clubs these shifts you are obligated and if you do not you may have to pay out of your shifts, if not ther eis nothing for u to worry about.

If you definitely want to quit/take a break be up front. Explain that you just aren't making money right now. You could work at least one day you are scheduled for and break it to management then. Try not to burn bridges that way if you change your mind later you can always go back. You might want to even offer to work the days you are scheduled for or check to make sure it won't inconvenence them. Most likely they will understand. I'm sure they are used to girls just not showing up and never coming back so your honesty will be appericiated.

    that's not rain--that's a sprinkle!

regarding quitting--just tell the manager what you said here--that you're having a hard time and dancing isn't paying the bills. Most of the time when I quit a club, I just stop showing up. I never tell anybody I'm quitting. I figure, I'm an independent contractor, so I can do what I want. Maybe not the most professional way, but it works for me, and i haven't had a club yet that didn't welcome me back. Of course, things in New Orleans are a little looser than in most other cities.

It's not just the numbers game of approaching the customers... it's HOW you approach the customers. You might want to look into DancerWealth. All guys like a different look of girl, so it's not just about being 100 lbs either.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.
