    Default HG Work Makeup Products

I just wanted to hear what you ladies wear for makeup at work and why. Here's mine:

Over the years I've been on the quest to find the perfect foundation. I used to use MAC studio fix powder, then switched to MAC studio fix liquid foundation with blot powder over it, and I now use Lancome Teint Idole Ultra, which I LOVE!!! I use Bisque 7, it has a nice natural tan tone without any beige or pink undertones, it was made for more yellow or olive skin. I was told at Sephora that this one in particular is really popular for brides. This one is perfect for oily to normal skin, but definitely not for dry skin! It dries to a powdery matte finish, feels thin and light, and lasts ALL NIGHT! It covers pores and fine lines, and does not settle into little creases. It is really amazing, I don't know why more people don't use it. It seriously blows away MAC studio fix liquid. I do use either Laura Mercier Primer or MUFE HD primer under all of this. I've also tried Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer, and the texture of this is pretty much the complete opposite. Anyways, I set the foundation and touch up a once or twice a night with Laura Mercier Loose Translucent Setting Powder. This stuff is the best I have found, way better than Mineral Veil or MAC Blot Powder. It absorbs excess oil and really just kind of "blurs" the texture of your skin to look flawless and airbrushed in the most natural way I have ever seen. It just kind of melts into your face without sitting on top of your skin like some powders. Also, after all this I still feel like my face can BREATHE, I used to feel like I had a waxy oily sometimes itchy coating suffocating my skin, I know some of you girls know that feeling!

I use MAC Mineralize pressed powder in Medium Deep to contour my face. I use it in the hollows of my cheeks and around the edges. I also use it in a number 3 shape around the sides of my face. I then use MAC blush in Peachtwist generously on the apples of my cheeks. I use Satin De Chanel (sadly discontinued) as a highlighting powder down the bridge of my nose and above where my blush is, really high up on my cheeks bones and under my eyes. I am really picky about highlighting powders, I hate to look glittery, I want to have a subtle glow and add light. For undereye concealer, my favorite for years has been YSL Touche Clat in number 3. I just purchased Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder as a highlighting powder, and it's pretty awesome! I just wish it was more golden or peach, it has some blue ish tones in it, but it is worth checking out at Sephora.

Most of my eye shadows are MAC, with some cheap ones thrown in. The best brow bone powder I have discovered, for right under your eye brow, is MAC pigment in Vanilla. It's not as intense as Nylon, which is the ultimate stripper color. I typically use a quad, and do the "sculpted eye" look, with a shimmery or lighter color on the lid, a darker color(s) in the crease, and a light white ish color above that, all blended to perfection. Since I wear fake eyelashes every night, I buy cheap mascara to use with those. Right now its Colossal Volume Mascara.

Well, thats my crazy long makeup routine, but its worth it to me! I am a complete makeup junkie, and always looking for the next awesome product, so I would love to hear what you ladies suggest if you are as obsessed as me!

Also, the next time I go to work I'll post some before and after pics!

I use origins concelear under my eyes, cheap ass CG foundation but it matches mke perfectly! Then Loreal mineral powder, blush, a high lighter for my cheek bones.
Eyes: White to highlight, then gold Vikki's Secret eyeshadow in the tube, with a little brown in the crease and black on the very outside for definition. Black liquid eyeliner and mascara or on occasion lashes but I really don't need them.

I don't really wear the glitter or contacts very often but it's the only pic I had for you guys.

Wow, what a pretty Barbie doll esque look! The Vikki's Secret eyeshadow, is that Victoria's Secret brand?

Haha... yay for more makeup addicts!!

Right now I'm trying to use up stuff that I have sitting around, so it's a random combination of crap.

Also, people should realize that there is no "One Perfect Product". Everyone is different, and what might be perfect for me, could make you break out in a rash... Makeup is so personal. Skin types, skin condition, Allergies, your age, how you take care of it all come into play.

My skin type is normal/combination and a little breakout prone.

    On my skin/face:

Smashbox light primer/ I'm really liking this for work use. A little too heavy for everyday, but when I'm wearing work foundation it keeps it from sinking into my pores.

Foundation/ I love the make up for ever HD foundation, but I'm trying to use up what's sitting around so currently Clinique gentle light. It's highlighty but not glittery ( if that makes sense?) and gives a pretty glow to the skin. I'm not a big fan of clinique normally and especially not their foundations, but this one is ok for now.

Powder/ ITA with JD. the Mercier powder is one of the best I've found. The only thing better is the HD powder from make up for ever - it's a pure silicone powder that just makes the skin look flawless. However, again with the stuff sitting around, so I'm using up a little la mer powder that I have. It's ok. Not great.

When I do touchups I actually don't use powder, I use Dr Feelgood from Benefit. It's awesome and doesn't clog your pores or make you breakout.

Concealer is mufe lift or cle de peau. lift is pretty light, and cdp is like massive coverage.

Blush is depending on what eye colors I do. For a natural blushing look I like trish mcevoy's "natural" blush, but I also use nars orgasm, and a laura mercier bronzer that has a hint of shimmer.

When I highlight I actually use a light peach eyeshadow and hit the tops of the cheekbones, the inner corner of the eye, right in the center of the nose and above and below the brow. I'm more of a highlight person than I am a contour person.

Eyes/ I use a shadow base cause I have oil slicks on my lids. I'm using up Trish mcevoy's, but I like Mercier's better. I start with a light color all over (usually chantecaille) and then I use a l'oreal HIP paint to provide more grip for the dark color and intensify it. I almost always do a darker smokey eye with lots of lashes. I use a lot of NARS cause those shadows are just awesome. I also have shadows from Stila, Trish Mcevoy, Milani (drugstore - don't hate!) Shu Uemura, and.... uh.. others I can't remember right now.

I always do a smokey eye, somewhere between victoria's secret and porno smokey. It works for me.

Fake lashes ALWAYS. Lately for me, the "draggier" the lash, the more money. Who knew!!??

Depending on my costume, either a nudey pinky glossy lip or a red lip. I always thought a red lip would scare guys away but with the right costume they actually seem to love it. Couples REEEEEEEEEALLY love it. I had a smokey eye and red lip combo last night with a bondag-ey corset and women were coming up tipping me and telling me how much they loved the whole look.

    OMG that was long.

I... just... uh... use drug store make up... and youtube tutorials... and it looks hot. :/ I'll have hubby take a pic of my eyes next time I go in. I used fake eyelashes once, when I got my face done at the club, it didn't seem to help any. I have super long lashes anyway. People always tell me they can't stop looking at my eyes.
    Yes, I'm real.

Hee hee. You totally have the petite adorable young thing going on though. It works for you.

here's some awesome drugstore makeup rec's.

    L'oreal:

-HIP shadows. Most are good. the loose pigments are awesome.
-HIP cream shadows - are awesome. stay on forever. I've fallen ASLEEP with them on and they are still there in the morning.
    - Voluminous mascara.
    - Eyeshadow primer.
    - Bare Minerals Foundation - when I wear a mineral one, I wear this. It's great, and like 12 bucks.
    - Infallible concealer.
    - the self tanners are good. They are the parent company of lancome, who are known for self tanner.
    - Infallible lipgloss
    - Endless lipsticks wear for EVER..

Neutrogena makeup removing wipes save my ass every day. I love them.

Milani shadows are killer. Any time a line is marketed as "ethnic" (god I hate that phrase) It will be more pigmented than a "traditional" line.

Boots tends to be good as well. The shadows are hit and miss, but the face primer is really good.

Sonia Kashuk is great. The brushes are fabulous.

I'm not the biggest fan of covergirl. The shadows are hard and crumbly at the same time.

Maybelline shadows are good when they have shimmer.. they are soft enough to not tug on your eye.

NPset (at target) is crap. lol.

    Revlon eyeliners are awesome.

I'm drawing a blank without looking in my bag but those are what pop up out of my head right now.

Ugh. I so need to start using up the stuff I have laying around the house! I spend more money on beauty products than rent! LOL

Ok, so I have seen the Dr. Feelgood, but never tried it, I'll have to check that out on my next pilgrimage to Sephora. The reason I like the LM loose translucent powder, is because it blended so well and looked natural, and I felt like the MUFE HD setting powder looked white on me. I think it would look perfect on other skin tones, but I have way too much yellow/olive in my skin.

I went to try the Cle de Peau famous concealer, but I didn't like it either. I guess it really does depends on your skin.... I am really starting to love the Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder! I've even had guys at work comment on how it makes my face look so lit up. I am weird about highlighting powders, I can't stand the shimmery ones! I like a subtle glow. This one is kind of like a more sophisticated, finely milled version of MAC Belightful, which is a little too intense for me. Also, I was extremely disappointed with Chanel Poudre Douce. It is so highly rated on MUA, but I don't see why.... it was nothing special.

That Lancome foundation, I just love it more and more each time I use it! I feel like it is sucking the oil out of my skin all night! I also love that it has a pump, it's so much more sanitary and not as messy. I almost don't even need the LM powder over it. The day I discovered it, I had tried on 5 or 6 different brands of foundation at Sephora, and that one was just perfect for my oily skin. I will say though, it is necessary to moisturize before applying it. I would rather mattify my whole face and highlight different areas than buy a dewy finish foundation, and thats exactly what this one does.

I'm going makeup shopping soon, so I'll post if I find something good.

Ah - you either used too much, or didn't let it sit long enough. I've seen it used on dark dark (like, Alek Wek dark) and it still blended in. Did you use a brush or a puff?

I only like it when I'm light. When I'm dark it's too light. And it's another one that I'm just using up. Not for $72... heeeeelllll nawwwwwww... the new smashbox HD is nice for a liquid concealer. Sue Devitt makes a nice cream concealer in a stick.

Ugh. Chanel is 90% over rated. And I get annoyed with MUA..... if it's rated high on there, chances are I'll hate it lol.

I do love a good highlighting powder. it's so fabulous. Lately I've been using a lighter color from a milani quad and it's the perfect HL for when I'm tan. Just enough yellow in it.

You know what I forgot to add? I've been using a black liner pencil from victoria's secret and it's awesome! it's a toss up between that and the urban decay 24/7 liner. love both.

I've been hearing so much about UD 24/7 and also MUFE Aqualiners, but if VS makes a cheaper version I'm all for it!

I tried on the MUFE HD powder at Sephora, and you know it's like amateur hour in there, so I'm sure they put too much on me.... I'll have to check that one out again, I hear so many rave reviews about it.

After washing my face (all facial soap, toner and moisturizer is shiseido) I start my eyes. I usually use about 5 different shadows (all MAC). I start with my base color halfway up my eyelid, then I use my second base color and I feather it out towards the edges covering the rest of my eyelid in the process. I then take my 3rd color and feather it out along the corner of my eye and the upper crease of my eye between my brow ridge and eyelid. At this point I take make up removing cloths (also from MAC) and I get rid of the excess shadow around my eyes and any that has fallen onto my cheek bones. I then take my eyeliner (either MAC powerpoint eye pencil or MAC eye kohl crayon) and line the edges of my eye. I then do a quick wipe of my face with toner, and then moisturize my skin. Then I use MAC Prep + Prime all over my face as well. Then I go stand in front of the fan for a min or so so that my face "sets". I then take my 4th eyeshadow color and I put it under my eyebrows but not quite up to them. Then I take the 5th and that color I work up underneath my eyebrows. These 2 are all accent colors so they are very light.

Now I curl my lashes and use Le 2 de Guerlain Mascara on my lashes (only the top ones I save the bottom for last). Then I use Chanel Teint Innocence foundation and blend it on using a foundation brush (this gives me more of an airbrushed look). I use maybelline blush 2 fingers width from my nose, up my cheek bones and along my temples and the outer edges of my forehead (not a lot up there just enough for a hint of color). Then I use MAC Shimpagne highlighter on the same lines I just put my blush. Then I masacara my bottom layer of lashes. And then last but not least I seal it all with MAC Fix+ finishing spray.

I'll post a pic if I can the next time I work. Im off for a few days.
