    Default Bronzer thats actually Bronze!

My bronzers always turn me orange/red I look like Im sunburnt currently.
Can anyone reccomend a good matte bronzer thats actually a nice bronze/tan colour! Prefferably not too expensive that they sell in England? oo and staying power would be good because mine comes off after like 2 hours!

It depends on the original color of your skin, and what type of bronzer you like. Do you want a makeup- y bronzer that makes you look like you are naturally a different shade, or do you want a more sunkissed shimmery look? Is it for all over your face, or just to contour? Do you want to look tan like you've been at the beach, or look like an all over different color?

Although bronze is more popular and that is what the OP is looking for. But, copper is another alternative and is well suited for women with pasty white complexion.

Here is a link which contains some useful information if you decide to go copper:

I think copper is one of the shades used in bronzers for the face, in particular. I do absolutely love dark copper eye shadows, they really bring out blue eyes. I think it all goes back to the natural undertones of you complexion, and the look you are trying to achieve. For me, my face is fair but has yellow and olive subtle undertones, not pink or beige like most women my color. This can be frustrating because many bronzers have rosier or reddish pink undertones which does NOT match my face and looks mask ish and unnatural. Do you have a Sephora in the U.K.? If so, they have an entire face bronzer bar with all different brands. You can see which are best suited for you. Also, what type you want, powder, liquid, a clear liquid with bursting bronze beads in it, a spray powder, etc. What undertones do you have naturally in your face? Also, do you want a shimmery color or more matte? Guerlain has always been known for their bronzers, but they can be pricey. I could name so many, but those are just my personal preferences. Tell me what you skin looks like or post a picture and I can give you some suggestions.

check this out, but it might blow your mind lol! These are all for the FACE....

    http://www.sephora.com/browse/sectio...egoryId=S10854

Bare Minerals "Warmth" (I DO NOT like this one, also stay away from Maybelline Mineral Power, talk about unnatural!)

Laura Mercier loose mineral powder in "Warm Bronze" (loved the color, hated how it didn't last and sweat right off)

Cargo Water Resistent Bronzer (haven't tried their other bronzers yet, but this one always sells out fast)

Guerlain Terracotta Spray (waiting for the "Dark" shade they keep promising is coming out, but IMO is an expensive more perfumed more reddish Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs)

Guerlain Meteorites in "Summer stones" (a nice shimmery highlighting bronze)

Nars Casino I always loved this one

Cover Girl Tru Blend Minerals in "Golden Sunrise" (can be shimmery on face, but a nice color for face highlighting and decollate both)

I really have tried so many, but these stood out in my mind.
I did see some of them are matte bronzers, but I haven't tried any of those.

    For the Body:

    self tanners:

Sun Laboraties "Dark Sunsation" (a DIY self tanner)

    Airbrush Tans:

Norvell Amber Sun airbrush tan (you would have to call around find a salon where they airbrush you with a machine and use this particular brand)

Ocean Airbrush Tan (another nice natural super dark brand they do only at airbrush salons)

Versa Spa spray on system (they do these at Palm Beach Tan locations here, it is like an improved Mystic Tan. Very natural and lasts long. You stand in a machine and it sprays you)

Whatever you do, stay away from Mystic Tan! There are way better alternatives!

Body Makeups that wash off every night:

I said earlier, the Sally Hansen, but there are a few other good ones:

Lancome Magic Golden Dry Oil Spray Sun Bronzer (can get a little greasy, and for an already somewhat tanned body)

Estee Lauder The Body Tint (very natural and light, smells heavenly and tropical, this is discontinued but you can get it on Ebay)

Maybelline Dream Glow (can be used on face or body, very very dark natural color, shimmery, you can only get now on Ebay)

Victoria's Secret Beyond Bronze (not to be confused with their other bronzers, this one will make you look like a super dark bronze statue and cover any flaw on your body, but another discontinued one only on Ebay)

I hope all that info helps!

wow thank you for the replys J.D.
We dont have sephora...and the post you just made with all the diferent bronzers I dont think I can get many of them in the UK which sucks!
I would like a powder one,I think yellowy undertones, I use MAC studio fix foundation NC25. I was thinking more of a matte colour so it will look more natural(but will it? I have never tried a bronzer that was anything other than matte, I just wouldnt want to look like I have glitter or something on my face since I would wear it in the daytime)..I just want to brush it on all the places the sun would naturally hit me and hopefully it not turn me slighly orangey red as I hate that.

To be honest I really don't like the studio fix liquid foundation ..I want my skin to have like a glowy flawless look like kim kardashian (lol I wish) but when I put my makeup on currently I feel like Im caking over it with a colour thats not even perticularly nice..it is the closest to my skin colour that MAC does but its kind of a weird colour I think like Im painting my skin with beige paint. I am considering trying estee lauder double wear as I heard good things about that

Ok, I hate liquid Studio Fix too! And they always rave about it at MAC like its the best, whatever! I haven't tried the Estee Lauder double wear, but it gets good reviews on www.makeupalley.com (if you haven't been on this website, you should, it will save you lots of money by reading makeup reviews by other people) I wear Lancome Teint Idole which is my new favorite. I have oily skin, so by the end of the night my make up looks like wax melting off my face with my pores ten times bigger! lol. The lancome one I use is AMAZING!!!! I'm really shocked at how light and thin it is, but stays all night and sucks the oil out of my face. It is definitely not for dry skin though. Here's what all I use for makeup: http://forum.stripperweb.com/showthread.php?t=134379

And yes, Kim Kardashian is kind of my makeup/style role model. I try to mimic her look, but she is definitely not tan! Bexxx, try the Estee Lauder and the Lancome one. Ask for samples and see which one you like better. I like the Lancome one because it seems like the colors are geared more for fair and medium skin tones with yellow undertones, and you will look like a natural porcelain doll, not dewy. I know that "reddish beige mask" look you're talking about! Also, invest and buy the Laura Mercier loose translucent finishing powder, because no matter what bronzer you choose, putting this over everything when you're done will make a huge difference in making it look natural. I use my foundation brush to apply this powder at the very end.

Since you don't like glitter, I would stay away from most of the MAC bronzers, the ones I've seen are loaded with shimmer, glow, and glitter. If I was you, I would find the nearest Guerlain counter and try some of theirs, like Terracotta, but they have SO many! Guerlain is kind of the expert of bronzers, thats what they are known for. It is a Mediterranean based brand, so everything is kind of geared towards those skin tones, if that makes sense. Also, take the time to check out Nars Laguna AND Casino (two different shades) they seemed semi matte. Also check out Cargo for sure, and Benefit Hoola AND Bahama mama (two different shades). These are the mandatory ones you need to try before making a decision.

I have traveled internationally so I know where I went Guerlain and other huge brand names were available, especially easy to find them all at those duty free shops at airports. Buy a flat compact disc of bronzer and apply with a fluffy brush on your face and body, thats what I would do. Also, go check out the Cover Girl golden sunrise one, I think you may like it for around your shoulder, it has a little bit shimmer in it. I buy a couple of these and empty them out into a big container, and apply to my chest and decollate with a big fluffy pouf after I put on lotion so it sticks better.

Thanks again..Ill sign up to makeup alley and try both the foundations and see if I can find some of those bronzers. And with the laura mercier powder you said ''putting this over everything when you're done will make a huge difference in making it look natural'' Do you put that even on top of the bronzer or just on top of your foundation then put bronzer on? Id have to find it online I think.

^^^ Kind of both I always at least finish with it on around my blush and bronzer, and then a little on top but not too much to mute it out.

I am on my particular face, its very therapeutic to me, to sit in front of the mirror with some loungey techno music doing my makeup for an hour, I feel like I'm creating a work of art. I get the same feeling when I cook, I just get so into it and passionate, I get in my own little world.

What's the best face self tanners that will make you look like you are entirely a different color? I love when I get an airbrush tan and my face is about 2-3 shades darker but it always disappears after the first two days. I can never airbrush my own face with those can, the results always turn out funny. Is there a liquid self-tanner that is high above the rest? Jergins/Nuetragina self-tanners don't do shit for my face, even in their darkest colors. I've heard about the Lancome one being fantastic, and I will buy it if it's recommended... thanks!

I know what you mean about airbrush tanning not lasting on your face. I've always heard mixing Sunlabs Dark Sunsation with face lotion is absolutely the best way to go for your face. I agree the Jergens face one sucks! I've haven't heard anything about the Lancome one, but look it up on makeupalley.com.

I've heard Sunlabs is the HG sunless self tanner for face and body. I've also heard Xen Tan was good (Paris likes it) but when I went to Nordstroms, they said I am naturally too dark, and I wouldn't like it. If you're super pale, or scared to go really dark, you may want to check out Xen Tan. Otherwise, order Sunlabs Dark Sunsation, and mix it with lotion for your face.

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzing Powder

actually looks like a tan...not shimmery, and it smells like chocolate! I love the smell, and it does go away, so it's not like you smell like chocolate all day.

when I wear it, people ALWAYS ask me if i've been tanning or on vacation.

I use Xen Tan , im not really pale (im mixed) and most of my friends say I don't need to tan but im a obsessed with lookin brown lol, it is quite olive (yellow) but thats good for me as it really goes with my skin not orange, I use the dark one they have different shades so maybe try a sample. xx
