    Default Dangerous Dancing

This happened at the DejaVu Pole Princess finals in Minnesota:

Girl was doing pole tricks at the top of the pole, her shoe hit the fluorescent blacklight fixture, and the tube dropped to the ground, exploding right in front of the tip rail customers. Luckily no one was hurt.

(Right now I'm avoiding the gruesome injury stories)

I saw a girl fall from the top of a high pole and knock herself out. It was funny. She was my friend.

I slid from the top of the pole straight down and hit my head on the floor in a headstand position.

It didn't hurt that bad, but everyone at the tip rail felt so awful they all tipped me at least $15.

Occupational hazard; I worked with a girl in ATL who was aptly named Crash for this particular reason.

I had a dancer fall off a pole in front of me. I half caught her and management accused me of making her fall. Even after she said I didn't he insisted I did. I think he was afraid she was hurt and may sue.

I always cringe when I see stray hairs dangling from fire sprinklers / lights/ whatever along the ceiling. I'm thinking that had to sting.

Speaking of cringing: every time I hear that skin-on-pole screeeeech as she slides down. Why I will never be a dancer (not the most important reason, but one of them)

I've knocked a florescence black light tube on the stage before. Shattered in a million pieces. I wasn't so worried about the glass, but the poison that is contained in the tubes being inhaled by the customers sitting stage side.

Dancing is dangerous. I can't count how many times I've been (minorly) injured on the job, from trips and falls to being burned by cigarettes to cuts from broken glass. Not to mention the blisters and bruises that are incurred just in the act of dancing in those shoes/ on the pole etc.
