    Default pole dancing at 49?

Hi new to site and just looking around.
Since I am 49 I may quite possibly be the oldest person on this site! LOL I have never done any professional dancing, so sounds like you girls that do, have lead some pretty interesting lives. At my age I am not looking to dance professionally. I had read that pole/exotic dancing was supposed to be the newest rage in exercising. So......at my age I decided, what the heck, and purchased a pole, installed it, watched a couple of DVD's. After watching them I thought OMG what have I gotten myself into, I honestly didn't know that a person could do that many tricks on a pole? YES...sheltered life. Anyway, lets just say I was a little intimidated but tried a few of the beginner moves and was sore in places I didn't know could get sore!

Anyway thats kinda how I found this site and was hoping to learn some tips and get some valuable advise from those who already know how to do do this!

Probably the video didn't mention this, but buying a pair of thigh-hi boots will help you learn the pole tricks (inverts especially). I like these because the heel is chunky and not too tall, and the materiel is grippy when on the pole:

The boots will also protect your legs from bruising when learning the climbing moves.

    No, she's about 33.

However, I know there are others on here who are over 40.

Oh geez. not that she looks either, I just thought on one of those interviews I saw with her she was a little older. I have oe of her videos on VHS, so I guess that may have added to my confusion!

I am also thinking about getting into stripping and are 33 years old. My body is in really good shape though but I do feel a bit self conscious about my age.

A couple of my best students are in their mid 50's. They are actually the bravest and the most outgoing students that I have! I actually have to slow them down to insure they don't injure themselves!

Pole dancing should be taken seriously and you should find an instructor to show you proper techniques. Although this is a great site to get some tips, you may want to try the forum at www.PoleJunkies.com

A dancer at my club is 42 so I don't think you are in anyway too old. Have fun!
