Yep.. I'm trying to lose some.. Sadly I need to lose up to 50 pounds and I'm still gaining.. I really don't know why. I have a pole at home I use when my bf is sleeping. I bellydance, bike, light weights, ballroom, latin, other. I try to eat right but with me barely bringing money in I don't get to choose what comes into the house, so I try to keep away from all the junk food and high fat foods that are common in this house. I'm on the pill, been on it for years with no weight problem.

I need some tips cause its driving me crazy... I don't know what else to do.

Unfortunately, eating shitty is cheaper than eating well. But there are some great, cheap, good for you meals that will help.

Pasta: Buy whole wheat, it's just as cheap usually. Here is a cheap, good pasta sauce recipe that I use. You can freeze it and it is good FOREVER.

1 large can crushed tomatoes (unsalted and unseasoned)
1 large can diced tomatoes (unslated and unseasoned)
    4-5 cloves of garlic
    one bunch of basil
    tbsp dried Italian seasoning
    salt
    pepper

Dump the tomatoes together and heat till bubbling. Whirl the basil, garlic and seasoning together in a food processor to mix it, then dump it into the tomatoes. Or you can just chop it up together. Stew over low heat for about 10 mins, then salt and pepper to taste. You can also buy some cheap frozen veggies and toss them in there too.

Another good, cheap sauce is pesto: Basil, parmesan (doesn't have to be expensive), some pine nuts, olive oil and S&P. Keeps forever, easy to make, super tasty.

    Fruit and veg:

You're going to need some fruit and veggies in your life to help kick up your metabolism. On the cheap, buy frozen veggies. They retain more nutrients than canned and taste better. Also, buy frozen fruit- you can usually get it really cheap, like 3 bags for $5 or something. Get a big tub of yoghurt and some juice (like orange or pineapple) and blend in the fruit for breakfast smoothies.

The bags of baby carrots are super cheap and great for snacking. So are whole pineapples. I got a whole pineapple for the first time last week and was shocked at how easy it was to prepare!!

    Meat:

I don't eat meat, but when I did, I would buy cans of tuna for tuna sandwiches. Good protein and they fill you up. I used to put in chopped carrots, celery, garlic.. all sorts of good stuff.
If you eat tofu, tofu is super cheap and I can send you all sorts of fantastic recipes.
Ground beef is cheap too and you can add it to sauces. Make sure it's 80% lean on the package. Also remember a serving of meat is technically 6oz- most people overdo it and get too many calories from meat.

Soups are good too. There's this one company that makes a soup mix that literally makes like 2 quarts of soup. Also easily freezable.

I would take in about 1500 calories a day to lose weight, with your activity level.

I hope this was helpful. If you want more recipes etc just let me know!

Thanks. I don't even think I reach 1500 calories a day. Maybe close to it some days.

    My normal eating food are:
    Canned tuna
    Apples
    oranges
    carrots
    corn
    cheese
    wheat bread
    green beans

    It could be stress.

Before you get into doing anything or any type of diet, go talk to a doctor to make sure it's not related to any other problems such as thyroid. Find a doctor that will actually take time with you on blood tests and other diagnostics.
    Don't you ever sleep?
Not at night...that's when the stars have rather better things to do. They're coming out, shining, that sort of thing.

Eliminate the bread if you can..bread is just a filler and completely unnecessary.

    * If you're not losing weight, or if your waist doesn't seem to be shrinking, cut down on your portions. Walk or run around the neighborhood, swim if you’re near water! Anything that gets you moving will help burn calories.

    * Add foods like oatmeal, low fat cottage cheese & chickpeas, beans, dal & lentils. They’re great for soups, casseroles, curries and chili. You can even mash them to make burgers! Buying them dried is cheaper but requires more cooking. They’re high in protein and fiber and help you feel full longer.

    * Frozen veggies are great on the cheap as well. Broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collards & mustard greens can be added to simple soups or to things like dal (recipe below).

    * Drink more water (I add lemon or lime juice), eat carrot/celery sticks or chew gum (sugar free) as natural hunger suppressants, but do not neglect your nutrition by not eating at all!

    Good Luck

    Mung Dal Soup

Mung dal is split yellow mung beans, which can be purchased at all Indian grocery stores. If they are not available to you, you may use green split peas, yellow split peas or lentils.

    1 c. dal (or lentils)
    7 c. water
1 c. chopped tomatoes (canned is fine)
1 c. frozen broccoli or other greens
    1 tablespoon butter
    1/2 tablespoon minced ginger
    1 1/2 tablespoons cumin seeds
    1 green chili, minced
    1 small onion, minced
    1 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
    1/2 tablespoon salt
    fresh coriander leaves for garnish

In a pot sauté onions in 1 tablespoon butter. Add ginger, chili & cumin seeds, then turmeric & dal. Fry for 30 seconds on medium heat. Add vegetables and fry for 1 more minute. Add water and bring to a boil over high heat, then cover, lower heat, and let dal simmer for 1 hour or until the beans have dissolved into a thick soup. Add salt & garnish with fresh coriander leaves or parsley.

    Serve hot.

Yes get you thyroid checked at a free clinic it will be sliding scale and at most coat $100 to $150. if thats not it then you not eating enough you need a balance between the food groups and enough calorie intake if not your body will start storing from one plac to make up for another it also goes in to stavation mode and holds on to all fats even more so when you excersie. try sparkspeople.com they are a free site that sets up healthy meal plans, along with excerise and daily tracking all free there is also a full social site to help you stay focused. hopes this helps

    http://www.bmi-calculator.net/bmr-ca...dict-equation/

plug your height, weight and age into that. the number that pops out is basically what you'd expend sleeping 24 hours straight. don't go below that number.

instead, write down for a week everything you eat and your best guess of calories (be honest, and round up to the nearest 50 calories if you're not sure). compare that to the harris-benedict number times 7. if there is a large divergence (more than 500 cal/day), try cutting half the difference first and see if there is a change.

if the divergence is less than 500 cals/day, try lifting weights. it gets results very quickly in terms of weight loss. by lift weights, lift the heaviest weights you can stand for 5-10 reps until you can lift them 20 reps and then move up 5-10 pounds. 'light' weightlifting is worse than useless-- it is demoralising to do 80 reps with 10lbs and doesn't burn any calories really.

if you don't want to lift weights at all for whatever reason, running will lose the weight, but you have to run nearly every day. pros: free, just run as far as you can until you can barely move, and then turn around and head back. then run a little further the next day. repeat until you hit your target weight. do not eat less (some people have trouble eating if they run a lot), but if you don't have trouble, do not eat more (no 'rewards' for running-- the weight loss is reward enough).

or you can combine running and weight lifting, although there are reasons many don't (extra weight, even a couple pounds of muscle, slows you down).

i lift weights because i hate running and prefer being very strong. other women run because running 5-10 miles a day 5 days a week will keep you skinny even with no other exercise.

both things work really well for weight loss, especially combined with a small drop in calories consumed if you are overconsuming.

if you are eating below the harris-benedict number, you have a different sort of problem, because your body is clinging to the scraps of calories you give it and weight loss will be harder to manage. as your weight drops, you can eat a bit less, because lower weight means less calories needed as a bare minimum. but don't try starvation dieting while trying to exercise more and be very physically active.

    '
but vigorous, sustained activity is the best thing to lose weight. weight lifting and running are just two very simple kinds of such activity that many people use.

Definately run if you can. If you can't, walk very fast up hill and build up to running. Also try and avoid any foods like bread/pasta/potatoes and sweet things/junk food (I know you are but sometimes it can be tempting if these things magically appear in the house!) As also mentioned drinking lots of water will help. Portion sizes are also a big one.

Well I have heard from numerous sources that eating a very spicy diet increases metabolism, and I have nothing to compare it to, but I eat very spicy food and even though I eat a lot I'm like 100 lbs. So there may be some truth to it. It doesn't help if you can't stand the taste of spicy though.
How about eating small portions but 6 times a day.

you can put tabasco sauce/cayenne/ginger in everything for the same effect, or take cayenne and/or ginger pills. these kinds of spices don't work as well as the somewhat notorious ephedrine/caffeine/aspirin stack (ECA stack), but they do help raise the body temperature, which helps with sustaining weight loss.

Weight training hands down is the best. The more muscle you have the more calories you burn. Lift heavy weight also. You won't get bulky (women don't have enough testosterone to get bulky like men, women can build muscle like men but it's with a ton of supplements to get that muscle). Eat every 2-3 hours to boost your metabolism. That way you'll always be burning calories. I go by this rule 40% lean protein, 40% carbs(good carbs i.e. whole grain foods, veggies, some fruits) and 20% healthy fats(natural peanut butter, flax seed oil, fish oil) in each meal. Protein shakes are also great. And, don't forget about water. Drink a ton of it. I drink at least 64 oz. a day minimum. Cut out soda. Here's a sample meal plan:
Meal 1: Protein Shake w/ Banana
Meal 2:1 egg and 2-3 egg whites
Half a cup of oatmeal (I like to add cinnamon and vanilla to it)
Meal 3: Palm size of lean protein(chicken, tuna)
    Whole grain rice
    Veggies
Meal 4: Palm size lean protein
    Meal 5: Protein Shake
    Fruit
Meal 6: Palm size lean Protein
    Veggies
Eating right really is the key to a healthy weight. It's sad that bad food is cheaper. Try to save if you can and invest in a good diet.

are you on any medications? this can have a MAJOR effect on you. i ate 1500 calories a day, worked out an hour and a half a day, and still ballooned up because of a medicine.

i'd also suggest not eating within 4 hours of going to bed, and eating within half an hour of getting up. it'll keep your body from slowing your metabolism down.

It might be a combination of muscle gain and hormones but my advice is exercise for longer at least half an hour taking into account breaks, make sure you're doing it regularly...try new positions on cam with your legs above your head or something if you do that sort of thing
