Search The peak of the Perseid meteor shower!

The Perseids is one of the best meteor showers to observe, producing up to 60 meteors per hour at their peak. This year's peak occurs on the morning of August 12, but you may be able to see some meteors any time from July 23 - August 22. The waning gibbous moon will provide some interference in the early morning, so the best viewing will be in the evening before it rises. Look to the constellation Perseus in the northeast sky from midnight - dawn to see this event. To see the most meteors get to a good, dark location far away from city lights.

Eh..... I wanna watch but it's friggin cloudy. Also all the light pollution by me should drown out any glimmer of cool celestial shit.

You can watch this after work ( hours of 2a.m. - 5 a.m. are often awesome ). I've checked this out a couple times ( last year + few years ago ) . I drive clear up into the moutains to do it. It's best to be away from all light ( away from homes / city ect. ).

This is really neat and if you can check it out, you should. I've seen 50 shooting stars per hour roughly and I've seem a few BIG ones zipping clear across the sky leaving big trails!

I just called bf to see if he wants to drive up tonight ...... I think we are going!

Has anyone seen any this year? I saw a few!
It was around 4.30am GMT and I had almost given up earlier in the night as it was so cloudy. Seeing them made me feel like an excited child...I only saw 3 but each one took my breath away...so amazing to realise you're seeing particles that are billions of years old burn up in front of your eyes. To me they looked like Tinkerbell on amphetamine zipping past

No, I think there was one recently, right before the big eclipse?
I heard about it, but forgot to watch it
Where do you find out about them?
    Thanks

They were meant to be most visible on the 12th and 13th of this month. The second night I saw lots more but they were less spectacular ones, still cool though. I just read about it in the news in the week running up to it.

It's a good time to try to see some RIGHT NOW! The moon was very bright at the peak but it's currently a small sliver . We were way out yesterday in the mountains and saw 5-6 per hour.
