    Thumbs down Applying false eyelashes.....ARGHHHH

    Hey,

I am having major issues getting these suckers to stick! I have the whole strand eyelashes as well as the individuals too.

I have attempted to use the strand ones to wear to an audition. I get soooo frustrated that i usually throw everything back in my drawer & just say f it.

I am using the glue that came with them. Putting the glue along the edges, then TRYING to get the lashline as close to mine as possible....but always one side of the fakes stick up...then they whole piece pops off and lands on the dam floor.

    I don't get it....Maybe I need a stronger glue?

I'd love to wear these but I'm getting tired of trying to make them stick on.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
    XoXo

I always wait 30 seconds or more to let the glue get tacky before trying to apply them to the lash line. Also make sure the makeup you are using is not interfering with the adhesion. I looked on youtube for tutorials to learn how to apply them, I would recommend doing a search on there.

I had a makeup artist show me how to do it. I always put a couple drops of glue on the plastic tray and let them sit for a minute so it gets tacky. Then I take either a small makeup brush or a q-tip and rub the glue in a thin line along the lash strip. Then I place the lashes as close as possible to my real lash line and press them down gently. I use lash grip in black I think it works better then the clear.

    ^^^This.

The problem with squeezing out a line all the way across the line of the lash strip is that you often get too much and then it takes even LONGER to get tacky enough to adhere properly to your skin.
It doesn't take much glue to get 'em to stay on.

Also. I always like to apply eyeliner both before AND after.
applying liner before putting on your lashes also gives you a bit of room for error if you're not very good at getting right along your real lash line as well.

I put a fine line of glue on the lashes, let it get tacky, then start on the outer corner and push it into the lash line and scoot along towards the inner eye and push the lash again towards the lash line until it's all on. Press and hold for a few seconds.
Try again and let us know which step specifically you're having problems with

Lulz. For practicing... Some of the Walmart ones work fine.
Especially if you don't really know what you're doing. Why buy $10+ lashes only to screw up and getting all globbed up with glue trying to figure out how to put them on, right?

    I get my lashes here.
They've pretty much got any and every type of lash you could ever want. And if you're looking for something a bit more 'unique' than what you normally see... You'll definately want to browse the "Elise" lashes.

    I fake eyelashes!

Duo Adhesive (clear) is the only glue that I use! When I first started, I tried the Duo in black, thinking it’ll blend more w/my lashes, but stopped when I had black eye-boogers later that night!

The brand of lashes you use matters too. Try to go w/the better quality ones – they’re much more flexible & won’t poke your eyes out. Stay away from glitter lashes if you wear contacts – it’s HELL when/if it does!

First, be sure to distinguish left from right. Remove them from the package & measure them by placing along your lash line (no glue) starting from the outer corner to the inner corner of your eye. If it’s too long, remove it from your eye & snip a little off the outer edge.

Here’s what I do: Dip a toothpick in glue & use the toothpick to apply the glue to the lashes. Count to 25, repeat, count to 15 (or until the strip of glue looks near translucent & is tacky) then apply. I start at the outer corner & carefully lay them along my lash line (not the eyelid!) I find it easier to look down when applying them, readjusting/re-gluing when/if necessary.

I watched TONS of tutorials on YouTube... Maybe they'll help you too!

I second the toothpick. I t not only helps you apply the glue onto the lashes, but helps you place the lashes over your natural ones, sometimes a finger is just too thick, but the toothpick works like a charm.
I also blow on the glue on the lash before I try to put it on the eye. After applying I don't open my eye for a few seconds, except to check that the lash is where I want it, then wait a little and repeat with second eye.

sometimes the corners come undone, but a dash of glue on the tooth pick and then directly placed onto the area that had come unglued (right on the skin).
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

As far as the glue and tackiness goes, I think the girls answered you. Another tip I can give you is to apply them with tweezers instead of your fingers and to rest your elbow on the countertop of you have shaky hands.

Ok totally the opposite advice you've gotten but different things work for different people. I personally prefere to put a thin line of glue and immediately apply them that way they still slide around. I find that once it gets too tacky it sticks to fast and I dont really have time to shift them around to where they belong.
One of the biggest tips I can give you is not to get glue on your fingers while applying them, cuz they the lashes stick to your fingers and become a huge mess. Thats why putting them in their initial position with tweezers is a good idea, then shove them a bit with your fingers and then perfect their position with the tweezers by nudging them as close to your lash as you can get them. This is what always works for me and since its done in a few steps I really prefere to apply them when their still slippery and not tacky, I feel like I can get them way closer that way.
    Hope that wasn't too complicated!

the first pair i ever put on correctly was some revlon ones from walmart! the instructions on the back really were what laid it out for me.

what i personally do, is as follows.

1 ) check to make sure no leftover glue is on lashes.
2 ) squirt some lash glue on a hard surface (like a eyelash case or a piece of plastic, even some countertop)
3 ) snap a cardboard qtip in half (must have the paper stick!!!!)
4 ) dip the hard tip of the qtip in the lash glue, then holding the eyelash by the lash, put a thin layer of glue on the strip part
5 ) blow on the eyelash to help the glue set, and wait for about 30 seconds
6 ) apply eyelash to eyelid. press evenly across eyeball, and make sure that the lash is comfortable and isn't gaping. if so, remove and reapply.

There seem to be a few types of people - those who put lashes on first, right before mascara, or very last. I wait till the very end to put my lashes on. I use dark glue, and you can barely notice it on top of my liquid eyeliner.

If you have a hard time removing the glue from the lashes, soak them in a cup full of warm water. My makeup artist buddy gave me this tip, and i've found that it helps get the gunk off in general.

Don't be afraid to play with them a lot! I personally like Red Cherry lashes, or even Miss Adoro. They're hella cheap on Ebay.
