    Default I looked and looked...

And I have a question that wasn't covered in the Newbie FAQ.

I wear glasses. They're old and don't fit quite right, but aren't quite dorksville yet. They're half rimless and if consensus is that I keep them, I'm dressing up like a secretary.

Should I put them away when I get on stage for the audition, or leave them on so I don't fall off the stage and bust my ass?

    Do you wear contacts??
If not you could go buy some new frames and use them to compliment the outfit your wearing like a school girl or something!!
Frames are pretty cheap at walmart less than 40 for cute ones!!

From what I've read contacts are the way to go. You will also want the custies to see your eyes and have a direct eye-contact connection with them. Plus it would be terrible if you lost your glasses while dancing.

Well, actually, I'm lucky right now since I'm driving my mom somewhere. . . she's been talking about helping me out w/ new glasses. I'd LOVE to wear contacts, but crap w/ my retina causes my eye dr. to warn against them. So, that's out.

So - - maybe problem solved before it starts...? <crossing fingers>

I've seen dancers with glasses, this one girl had a light pink pair and I'm pretty sure they were fake. She did dance with them, just moved slowly and checked them.
I don't think its a bad thing, they were really cute and she stood out because she was the only one wearing glasses. She totally owned the naughty secretary/teacher thing.

Just came from the eye doctors. I'm getting new frames- w0ot - And I am probably going to play the hot geek angle when I can.

Plus, the frames have anti-glare lenses and are semi- rimless, so the custy can see my eyes. I have a pinstripe dress I'm going to wear to my audition so...I'm gonna be taking dictation.

i think glasses sound cute, but if you have pretty bad eyesight get special contacts just in case. even with the retina problem there still might be a brand that makes them. i have absolutely terrible eyesight and if i wore my glasses to work i know id be fucked if they got broken or lost. lol imagine? doing a flip onstage and landing on your glasses would suck. just be careful, best of luck!

I still will keep my old pair, possibly keep them in my car or locker. If I could tape or use earcuffs to keep my glasses on my head, I would. But for now, I don't think I'll be attempting to learn any pole arial tricks.

I actually used to dance in my glasses full time and made a lot of money doing it.
I still do from time to time. But not necessarily that often. More for comfort reasons than anything else.

I'm thinking of getting an extra garter to hold my glasses. . .I know some people said that the clothes @ Coquetry were kinda lame, their garters with the O ring seem to fit the purpose, though.

I wore my glasses sometimes when I danced and always did well with them! I just wore my regular outfits, no need to make a theme outfit with the glasses. You might get "are those glasses real?" so be prepared to answer that alot without getting annoyed.

I found that if a customer had glasses on it was a guantee that he would buy at least one dance I think customers like the glasses too because they make you seem more real and accessable.

I also liked to take my glasses off when I was on stage because I couldn't see all the guys who were staring at me but not tipping so I stayed happier Good luck you will do great in your new glasses!

I sometimes wear my glasses while working but like Jenna78 said, I sometimes couldn't see the guys so I would take them off. Granted, my eyesight isn't *too* bad though. I think if you're comfortable then you should rock it!

I took them off during my Amateur night, I'm not doing it again. I am pinning my glasses into my hair.

It totally depends on the dancer and the club. Some clubs don't allow glasses. I've seen dancers wear them before though... one of my best friends does and she's very sexy even with them - but many girls can't pull it off.

Just for the record, there was a girl at my old club who did PHENOMENAL pole work-aerials, flips, etc. And she did them all while wearing her glasses, and they never came off. So it can be done

I figure some strategically placed bobby pins will help totally. When I did amateur night Weds., I didn't figure that out. I felt like an idiot, nearly lost my glasses twice.

I've never danced in glasses (did my first week dead blind, in fact, because my karma is such that on the day I had an audition, I not only dropped one of my last pair of contacts down the drain, I popped a lens out of my glasses. Made it rather easier to get on stage, really. Once I got my contacts, I was like 'Ooooo, THAT'S what this place looks like!" anyway, I digress.) but there is a girl I work with who does, and it's like this instant in with any guy who also wears glasses.

Once she does the glasses-wearing-folk bonding ritual ("Hey, let me try on your glasses, you try on mine!" *giggle about how the frames look good/bad on the other person*) it appears she actually steals their souls and keeps them in her purse for the duration of the night- they're totally smitten.

If the contacts are bad for your eyes, rock the glasses! It means if somebody's being mouthy you can do the librarian look-over-your-glasses at them. I'm a bit jealous about that, actually.....

Holy run-on sentences and parentheticals, batman.... Sorry guys.
