Default Hair Extensions - Micro Rings

    I'm considering getting extensions again.

I had the glue in ones for three years after which I was left with bald patches, I went to one of the most reputable salons in London.
So I'd never get that type again.

But I read about Micro Rings :

The new Micro Ring technique is the smallest and most undetectable Hair Extensions technique available which combines soft or fine strands of natural hair with the extension hair.

There is no glue, sewing or braids involved and there is no damage to your own hair. Micro Ring extensions should last up to three months before needing to be removed/reinstalled/tightened.

The Micro Ring installation and removal system is one of the easiest hair extension systems available on the market. This technique can be done on all types of hair. The rings come in different colours of metal and are covered with plastic which provides a comfortable cushion for hair. The rings clamp securely in place and will not slip out even during the most challenging of activities.

Those who have worn micro ring extensions attest that they are comfortable day-to-day and the hair stays in place until you remove it!

During a FREE initial consultation, where there is no obligation upon yourself, you will be taken through the process in detail including the aftercare, recommended products and the total cost.

A hair extension method free of any glues, heat or chemicals, which is an affordable and completely dependable is a considered a common sense approach to extending hair!

Which sounds great, but there is no substitute for experience !
So have any girls on here switched from glue bonds to micro rings (or vice versa) and what are your opinions.

One thing that is total b.s. in that ad, they do NOT last three months! Two months is more realistic, six weeks at the LATEST! Also, inquire to the quality of the hair they use, make sure it is Remi, and a texture to match your hair. Indian is usually the most coarse, followed by Italian, then Spanish, and Russian and Scandanavian are the finest. I loved my micro ring/ link bond extensions!

Yeah I figured that three months was a bit ambitious they always fib about that stuff lol.

So did you ever have the glue ones ? Did you notice a big difference?

Yes. I have had literally every type of hair extension on my head at some point. The micro rings are the best. You will love them!

weird, i actually was not the biggest fan of the micro rings. i much prefer great lengths fusion. the micro rings came out more when brushing my hair and did a lot of damage to my hair. after a year of fusion my hair is recovering nicely. everyone's hair is different however.
    best of luck with them

Be careful with these, my friend had them and you have to take major care in brushing your hair when you have them or you can pull your hair out at the root! I think this goes for any extension though, the way you take care of your hair and heed the advice your hair stylist gives you the better off you will be! Good-luck...I personally like clip-in's!

Sorry if this sounds stupid, but why do you need a special brush?

It seems like such a little thing... but even on normal hair... the type of brush you use really makes a difference in the amount of damage/stress your hair goes through.
These brushes are specially designed so that they don't damage the bond between hair and extension + they're generally a bit more gentle on the extension hair than your average brush so they don't do as much damage or things like 'rip hair out by the root' as was mentioned above.
