    Default Hair Styles

So one of the problems I am running into is that I SUCK at doing my own hair! And I'm not consistently making enough money to pay the lady to do my hair.

I have always been the "throw it in a ponytail and go" kind of girl, so I am pretty much starting at square 1. Can someone point me in the direction of some good tutorials on some simple but not boring hair styles that I can start with? I can't even manage to give myself a decent bump

And how do you keep your hair looking so silky smooth? Even when I use a flat iron and anti-frizz serum I have mad fly-aways.

The messier your hair is, the sexier it is.

ok, so i'm a hair poofing whore, so i'm gonna take over here whether you want me to or not. *kiss kiss*

ok, so here's what i do. i start in the center of my head, about two inches from the front of my hairline. i pick up a section about 1 inch thick, and 2ish inches wide. i tease the back of it, spray it with hairspray, and then let it fall forwards (towards my eyes). I then proceed to repeat this until i get to ear level in the back of my head. When I get to this point, I respray the entire section. I then leave it for a bit. I proceed to do the same process with the side of my head (either side works), and when the area is done? Respray, then let it sit for a bit. I'd advise doing lip makeup or changing at this point in time. When a few minutes have passed, check and see if the hairspray is dry. Then flip it downwards (the way it's supposed to go).

Don't worry, you'll probably look like an asshole at this point. That's ok, it'll work out in the end.

Proceed to do the same thing with the flat side of your head. Rat it up, spray, let it sit the opposite way so that the hairspray dries. Then flip it down. You probably look like you've stuck your finger in a light socket by now, perfect!

Ok, now you're gonna brush your hair down with the same comb you used earlier. This is why it's important to rat your hair up BIG.... Think 80's style. You'll smooth it out up top, and be left (hopefully) with the body you're looking for.

This is the kind of comb you should get to make this all work best.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ACE-Curling-Teas...d=p3286.c0.m14

As for making your hair look smooth.... This really all depends on how your hair is to start with. Fried hair will tend to look frizzy. I personally have wavy hair that gets crazy when there is humidity, and I'm quite adept at battling it by now.

Ok, so here's what I do. First, wash your hair, and condition it. Rinse well, then rinse really quickly with cold water. This will close the cuticle and help the hair lie flat. Then, hop out of the bath.... Dry off your hair gently and brush it if you want, then just chill for a bit.... You don't want to blow dry it right away. Let it sit and airdry for about half an hour or so, with a towel around or under it.

When you're ready to blow dry it, there's a few things you might want to do. I add Fashonista Big & Bigger foam (only at the scalp, for body... about one squirt for all your top roots), Afterparty smoothing cream (enough said, a squirt should do medium longish hair) and Ego Boost (split end mender, about one or two squirts.... enough for all the ends of your hair). All are TIGI products (aka bedhead, although fashionista is catwalk). Make sure you buy these from a salon or beauty supply, not the drugstore; there's a lot of counterfit product out there.

Now, go ahead and blow dry. Make sure everything is dry. When it is, go ahead and flat iron your hair, making sure to work with small sections at a time. This will help things settle down with your hair.

Your hair will still be a bit fluffy, but it won't be frizzy. The after party helps to control those fly aways. Also, make sure you don't wash your hair everyday - this will make things worse. The after party will help to make your hair look a bit shinier, which will help it look smoother; trust me on this.

I really hope this all works for you. This is my personal routine, and I swear by it.... However, not everything works for everyone.

I'd start with a good haircut, maybe a few layers for natural volume. I like mine long with side swept fringe. I get Victoria's Secret hair from swimming in the ocean & letting it dry. The texture is amazing! For added volume I flip my head upside down, spritz some hairspray onto sections of hair around the crown of my head, tease it (nanny nanny boo boo... j/k), then blast it with a second or two of the blow dryer. Flip hair over again, scrunch & muss it into place & voila! Zeks-zee bedroom hair!

One more thing - I spritz my hairbrush with my favorite perfume, so when I brush my hair, it's lightly scented.

When you are using any kind of heat or blow dryer on your hair make sure to use a thermal hair protector (like Chi silk infusion) this will help from frying your hair. Also instead of teasing your hair (which can cause MAJOR breakage) try using a volumizing shampoo and conditioner and blow drying your hair upside down to give your hair some omph. I second whoever said to get a good cut first, this will help SO much with giving your hair body especially if you get some shorter layers towards to crown of your head. I would watch some tutorials online and ask some of the girls at work what their secrets are. Most girls will love that you complimented them and will go into GREAT detail how they do their hair
