    Default The Pity Dance

You know what I'm talking about Some girls say they won't accept them, some will take the money regardless, and sometimes the same girl says the former at the start of the shift and makes her way to the latter.

    Just looking for personal stories.

Dancers: Times you've accepted, declined, or even fished for them

Custies: Does the inner white knight ever get to you?

i've never been one to lay a sob story on anyone, so no pity dances for me! I always maintain my upbeat, life's a party act when i'm at work. I feel sorry for some of the guys i dance for though, does that count?

pity... dance... I pity people.. And I dance.. But I don't think I ever gave or was given a pity dance.. You might have to define a pity dance for me.

A dance given to a girl because she is doing poorly. A girl can fish for one by continually dropping subtle and not-so-subtle hints about how bad the night is going.

I don't lay sob stories on people... and I don't play the 'pity card'.
I've only ever gotten one pity dance... and it was because the guy felt bad that we'd talked for so long. (I was talking to him because I was bored and he was the only guy not getting a dance.) I'd really only talked to him for maybe ten minutes. /shrug.

Personally. I don't give a damn WHY you're giving me money... as long as you do. Sure the dance may be a little awkward if you dun rly want one... but who cares? I'm still getting paid to do it... I'm at work to work and you're paying me to work.

    I'll guilt trip people, sure.

"Hey, (bachelor), I met your friend at the front door when he was stuck there for half an hour waiting for the rest of you guys to show up. He said I just HAD to come over and dance for you on your special night! I couldn't believe he stood by the door a WHOLE HALF HOUR waiting for you guys! So... ready for that dance?"
    Yes, I'm real.

I imagine a few of the dances people bought from me on my first night were "Pity Dances," but not because I'd had some sob story. It went more like:

    "Hi, it's my first night."

"Oh, well, in that case, sure, I'll take a dance."

I didn't really realize at the time that a lot of customers look to take advantage of a new girl. I sold a lot of dances, but I also had an awful lot of customers trying to take me home, or get extras during the dance. I still run into this problem occasionally, but nowhere near as bad as it was in my first few shifts. And I've never had someone buy a pity dance from me. The more dances I give, the more people buy them. The nights when I am busy and getting a lot of purchases, I am absolutely slammed. A few weeks ago I was literally in the back giving private dances, unless I was onstage. No down time. People were approaching me with dance tokens when I was on my way out of the private rooms from giving a dance to someone else. I don't have that happen so often when I'm just kind of wandering around the club cause I have nothing to do.

i consider it a pity dance when they guy is not attracted to me but buys one anyway because i was the only one who was friendly or nice to him. i can kinda feel the akwardness and sometime they even tell me to not remove my clothes or just give me the money for the dance and leave. i'll accept the money, cause this does seem to happen more to me on slower shifts, but it does make me feel crappy. to me it feels even worse than rejection cause at least rejection could have been for another reason such as the customer being low on funds or bad timing, etc. not necessarily about me.
i have never given anyone a "oh poor me pity me" story so i've never had that kind of pity dance.

My ATF has a goal every shift. I generally go see her on slower days, mid shift, and hang out until she is ready to go home. I have been known to give her an extra twenty or thirty bucks so that she will stay with me rather than go looking for that last couple of dances to hit the number. I wouldn't really call that a pity dance since she would get it somewhere else if she didn't get it from me.

If I were so not attracted to a dancer that it would be this awkward, I'd just say 'no'. Which makes me think perhaps the awkwardness has more to do with the guy than the situation.

But I will get a dance or two from someone I am less attracted to while waiting for the opportunity with someone else... I wouldn't call it a pity dance....

As for the sob stories, like, "my heat's gonna be turned off", unless we are really, really good friends already, that is just a formula for making sure you'll never get anything more from me than a friendly 'hello'. Otoh, when I was hooked on my ATF, a simple phone call and "it's so slow tonight" would get me down to the club in a jiffy. I loved those slow nights....

I bought a couple of pity dances once from a dancer I found crying in the ladies room. She was crying because it was her first day and no one bought any dances from her. She was a bit chubby, and the club was filled with model-types. I hope I cheered her up a bit.

I always tell regulars if my night or week was crap... *hint* *hint*.. ok so they like me anyways and would probably spend money, but maybe a little more than usual. I wouldn't really reveal that to someone I just met though.

I've also had dances with people who I knew weren't that into me. Say they're friend is going with my friend, so they come with me.

Honestly I don't really care what means I got the money by as long as it's legal and fair. Pity money, guilt money, lottery money, all your money in my pocket makes me happy.

I'm sure I've gotten some pity dances from custies in 6 years. It was never because of something I said, because I will NEVER beg or lay some sob story about how much I need money whether its true or not. I hate looking undesirable, and my night is always great no matter how bad it truly is.

I prefer not to see it as a pity dance but I've been known to bail out a friend at shift's end on a bad day. I've even been texted on occasion for that purpose (by pre-arrangement). As for a late shift assist, I would not do the same for a random girl I didn't really know, though I might give her a stage tip.

I don't ever complain to customers about how I'm doing, so I don't think I ever could have gotten a "pity dance". The only customer's I ever discuss that sort of thing with are long-term-regulars.. and even then it's only because they ask if it's been slow or not.. and I don't go into detail. I just say "yeah, it's been really slow" or "yesterday was really busy, it was good". I never say "I only made X dollars" or whatever.

For the most part, you won't find many "pitty peddlers" on this site as it primarily caters to those dancers who are real pros.

I pitied a customer last night... I did a VIP and two single songs for him and he told me "I just want to sleep next to a woman... is that too much to ask?"

But I made $700 off him so there was not really any genuine pity there.

As for getting pity dances, I don't fish for them but if they happen I don't turn the $ down.

I've never bought a pity dance from a girl who has fished for one. But I've bought my share of pity dances and drinks and provided pity tips over the years to girls who were clearly unhappy and off their game that night (for whatever reason). In the majority of these instances, it's me who will do the approaching even though I'm the type of guy who prefers to be approached.

Whether it's in my regular daily life or within the club, if it's within my power to offer a small gesture that may lift another person's spirits who is feeling down, I'm going to do it.
