    Default doing promotions?

Today I asked if I wanted to do some promotion things for my club
I was asked to take some pictures for the website and go to football games to hand out fliers
I already have one picture on the website, so i don't mind taking more pictures
I don't know if I want to go to the football games because I'm afraid that I'm going to be stuck with a pervy guy
Plus I wouldn't get paid, but the club would lower my house fees
    So what should I do?

I've never done promotions for the club, for the following reasons:

    1. I do regular promotional work, for clients like Microsoft, Captain Morgan, Chase Bank--at trade shows, sporting events, etc--which is PAID. And generally, it pays decent--at least $20/hour. And my club expects me to promote an adult business for FREE? It just doesn't work that way! Unless we're talking a really high house fee getting waived, this just doesn't make economic sense.

    2. I don't like the idea of advertising myself to the world as a stripper. I keep my sex work on the DL. I can't be on the DL if I'm standing outside the Superdome telling everyone to come visit me at Club Eden!

That's what it comes down to for me. It's good that your club is doing promotions, because they'll get more people coming through the door, but personally, I wouldn't want to be the one handing out the flyers.

are they making you do it? if you really need the credit for the house fee and you want to do it then i say go ahead. they do that at rick's but you only need to go for an hour. but a football game seems long.

I've done promotions. It's easy. If you can handle guys at the club, you can handle a perve out in the daylight clothed.

Mine aren't paid either, we just get free dances at the club. So if it's a slow night I'll do it in the earlier hours, but I wouldn't specifically get up to go do promotions.

My boss approached me as well to do promorions for our club because I have done promotional work before. The only thing I have a problem with is that they don't seem to understand that promoting a strip club should mean they get paid more than the girls who stand outside the mall and hand out Tide samples. Our house fees are only twenty dollars (if you're a shift girl they pay you $50) so that's not much motivation. They want to pay the girls $15 an hour but I keep warning them that NO ONE will promote a strip club in public for such shitty pay. I made a minumum of $20 and hour when I was doing beer promotions and if I was doing nude promotions I was making a minimum of $250. It's just not worth anyones time if they're only making $15 and hour.

I just signed up to do a promotional thing for my club. I thought it sounded fun and I like the idea of bringing in more business. We don't get paid but we get points that can be used to reduce house fees.

EXACTLY. I mean, liquor promos in my area pay $25/hour--they're more lucrative because booze is considered a vice. The way I feel is--a strip club should be paying at least $30 an hour to promoters, since strip clubs are way less socially acceptable than drinking.

The Penthouse Club is hiring girls to do their promotions--and they're paying them $15/hour. I think this is ridiculous! And I'm sure there's a reason they're resorting to craigslist to find these girls--their strippers are too savvy to accept these ridiculous wages.

How much are they lowering your house fees? You have to do the math, and figure out how much they take off for each hour of promoting that you do. If they take off at least $25 then I'd say it's worth it. Any less than that, and I wouldn't do it on principle.

Even if it does work out to decent pay, I would ask for more before agreeing to do it. They may give it to you, and if they don't then at least you've sent the message that you won't be taken advantage of.

That's just for handing out flyers though. I would make them pay me a large amount of cash money for the photos and make sure to read the release form carefully. Every club that has ever asked me to take pictures wanted me to sign a release saying that they could use the photos in any way that they wanted until the end of time. That means they can use them on billboards, or to promote other clubs, or photoshop a donkey in there and send it to my mom.

^lol. It really all comes down to how much you're going to take away in the end. If they're paying you $15/hour and you work for four hours you've just wasted 4 hours to make $60. Even before I started stripping I would have considered that bullshit. Maybe I'm just naive because I work in a town where most people only pay $20 house fees but just how much do you guys have to shell out to work at your clubs? I would be furious if I paid a club 60 or 80 dollars a night and they expecte ME to promote the club. I mean, isn't that what I'm paying them for? For them to bring me customers so we can both make money?

i've never done it, but i wish i could. i never manage to wake up early enough.

the girls who do promotions for my club may not make money for it, but guys come to the club exclusively for them and spend money on them. if you aren't already a top earner, it should increase your income.

They can't give you free house because?

They should be paying you cash! You should also get a commission from the they guys that bring in the flyers.

Why not promote yourself? Go to a bar before you go to work, have a drink or two, if someone strikes up a conversation with you just innocently say "oh no I have a bf. I'm on my way to work." Don't say - you should come see me. Throw the ball in their court and see if they hit it back. If they do fill them in on the details.

They will come see you. Promote yourself. Not your club. You're not a hooker and you can't get in trouble. It's called networking and guys do it all the time. If you do it too often and a bar catches on they might 86 you. No loss. There are more bars than strip clubs.

Go to a football game on your own time. Actually you could get in trouble handing out flyers in a sports venue if it's not approved.

Winged Dinghy is right. You should be getting paid. I used to dance in regular night clubs (go-go dancing) and we made $100+ an hour and got free drinks all night. It's shocking that girls do it only for the two or three drinks these days for guys who pretend they are not even remotely interested in the entertainment provided.

The club should either pay you or give you FREE housefees. More than one, depending on what the fees are. If they're low, you should definitely get 2-5 free housefees. If they're high, 1-2 free ones.

In Vegas the clubs do promos and they do it right. Take the girls out clubbing or to dinner at a nice restaurant, pay for everything. Give the girls at least one free housefee credit plus if they choose to work immediately after promo, they work free that night too. At some clubs they'll even give you special cards to hand out and if guys come in with those cards and buy bottles whatever, the girl whose name is on it gets credit in the form of additional free housefees or cash. That is the way to do promo - make girls WANT to do it, and you won't have any shortage of girls

If your club is offering reduced housefees for doing promo, just tell them you'll do it for X number of free house fees. If you're going to promote for the club, the least they can do is make it worth your time.

For pictures, they should absolutely pay you. They will make you sign a model release allowing them to do anything they want with those pics forever. If they can't pay you for that, tell them to consider working for free themselves sometime, not to mention forever associating their pictures with a strip club...

See how much they'll lower your house fees and divide that by the # of hrs worked to see if it's worth it.

I've gone with my manager to some local amateur fights to be a ring girl and sell raffle tickets. I didn't get paid, but I got my $75 house fee waived that night, he bought us food and drinks, and I got to watch the fights Not to mention I scored brownie points with the boss (especially considering only 2 of 5 girls showed up)

If its something you're comfortable with, go for. But only if you feel like its worth it.
Never do for free what you can get paid to do
