    Default Organisation

Well I just moved and this place is smaller than my last, I have far too much stuff.. I was pretty surprised by how much when I was going through it all and I threw alot out/gave away but I still have too much stuff I just wondered if anyone had any good storage tips of how you keep your clothes or makeup or just random stuff neat and tidy!
I read about keeping your shoes in the boxes they came in and just stick a picture of them on the front which Im in the process of doing but anything else would be good...

Are you utilizing all of your storage space such as under your bed? You can even get bed raisers to increase that area if you're interested.
If you can't win. Make the fellow in front of you break the record.

I have somme stuff under there but that bed raiser thing is suuch a good idea as its hard to fit that much under because the bed is low to the ground.I had never thought of that but it seems so simple lol. Thank you!

The shoe box thing takes up way too much space imo. You can get a good hanging shoe rack that goes on the closet door, or what I do is line them up neatly in the front of the closet floor or under the edge of the bed.

Also, most women have FAR too many cosmetics and they are usually not clean and neat. Clean up all your cosmetics if they are funky looking and any that can't be cleaned, toss. I have a small makeup bag and everything must fit in there, or well, I don't need it. I also go through drawers and such on a biweekly basis to check for stuff that is no longer needed and dispose of that stuff. Go through your closet and if you haven't worn it in a year (maybe less, depending on seasons), donate it. Any books you haven't read in the last year, donate to your local library. Organize your furniture so you have lots of wide open spaces. Ditch everything you don't need for a much more clean and modern look. For example, I ditched the coffee table 4 years ago, because wtf do I need with a coffee table? I have an end table to sit drinks on. Minimize your stuff and it'll be SOO much easier to stay organized.

Thanks for the tips, I did the makeup and clothes thing.. I think I still have more than I need because I find it hard to part with my belongings

^^ Yep, I do it biweekly. It helps me stay neat and organized and it's just so much less stressful when there is no clutter around. With 2 kiddos there is enough mess, I can't deal with any extra from my stuff. Once you get started and realize how nice it is to have a really neat, organized home, you'll be hooked.

Also, I've found some great organizing ideas just by searching 'my closet tour', or 'my room tour' on youtube. Some of those girls are so freaking organized. You can also get ideas from hgtv.com and bhg.com. As someone else already said, Ikea has great storage ideas at excellent prices!! That place is so cool!

I second Ikea - they do all sorts of useful things for storeage.

    www.ikea.com

    - navigate to the US site, then use 'storage' as a search term.

I have so many clothes that unless I've got a closet that spans the entire length of the room... I'm screwed. [I recently had to replace all my hangers and had to buy over 200.]
My solution is to pick a wall... and dedicate the whole thing to storage. I'll have a few of these... with my shoes all tucked underneath. My dresser normally goes along this wall too.

If downsizing isn't an option... it's a good solution. Not the most attractive, necessarily... but I'd rather have that then throw away half my wardrobe.
You can still have too much stuff, and at least have it all out of the damn way.
