    Angry Remy Hair Extensions......HELPPPP

    Ok,

So i've wanted to get extensions for awhile now, but to go to a salon was quoted starting at $1200+. So I decided to get the clip-in ones at Sallys. I went there this morning & bought the Remy Human Hair Clip Ins. Tha package came with 4 larger wefts of hair to attach to the back of head and 4 smaller wefts (2 each side of head). Ok now...........my real hair is SUPER light/white on the front/top/sides & a couple shades darker underneath & at the very back.

The associate & I matched my extensions to the top of my head & matched dead on. She said the rest I can just blend in. I get them home & figured I'd throw 'em in to try 'em out.

Soooooooo, my hair is very thick, fairly dry, & all one length (shoulder length), so it looked ridiculous when i had all my extensions in! When I looked at the back of my head I had a vivid line of my real hair at my shoulders, then this super silky gorgeous blond hair from my shoulders down my back.

I dunno what to do now. The front pieces I have been trying to work with all evening, I think I can throw some gel in & somehow make those blend together. But the whole back is horrid. I am having a ton of trouble trying to blend in all my super thick hair into the thin silky hair....It's just sooo obvious, i mean it looks no where near what I thought.

Any advice? How can I get the back to blend? What else can I do?

    Thank you!
    XoXo

Well you might not want to do this.. but if these are the cheapish type of clip ins they arent good quality hair the smooth-ness that they have now is just a plastic coating they put on as soon as you wash them a couple times they turn dry and not so great and smooth(though it isnt noticable it is mainly just the feel of them)..but I like that as like you have pointed out the silky smooth texture doesnt go with your hair if its dry. I also nearly always wear mine curly as it makes them look so much more realistic and blend alot easier with my hair.. I can PM you pics if you want to see the difference lol. Its really not much effort atall and the extensions hold the curls well..but this is just my experience.

I make my own clip ins but my hair is really thin. I buy a apckage of real hair and then seperate the two "tracks" with nail scissors and sew my own clips on. I have some that are all one length now but I used to have some that were long. I put them all in and went to the hair dresser and had her cut them into layers. I would do that if I were you. With regard to the color, the stores here sell hair that is multi colored, but I also go to a "ghetto" beauty supply store, instead of say Sally's. I dunno if this is an option to you. If it is not, You could probably get a pack of hair that matches your dark color and a pack to match your light color and sew them together on a sewing machine before attaching them to the clips.

I'd love to see pics of before & after. I tried to curl it & the extenx looked awesome, while my real hair just got thicker & poofier. Ugh.

Not sure what cheaper ones are but I paid $100, they are called Euronext Remy 100% Human Hair.

As far as the color goes, I'm scared to get a pack of the shade or two darker to match my other part because one, its another $100 I'd need to spend, & two I was hoping that I could keep almost all one consistent blond color. I might just try to throw some lightener on the back part of my hair & see if I can get it to the shade of all the rest...or go to a salon & tell them to do it.

Does the packaging say anything about it being virgin hair or cuticle correct? Thats the sort of thing youre looking for when buying extensions because they last alot better. But most places just sell your average hair and are like 'ITS REMY HAIR WOW ITS SOOO GOOD' but its really not like i said they put plastic coating on it to make it look good for a short while so they can charge ridiculous prices.. it makes me maad. But I will send pics tomorow I promise I am going to bed its 4.45am heree now

P.S if you decide youre okay with the not so great but cheaper clip ins ebay is a great place to get them for good value!

I'm trying clip ins for the first time. I bought the hair, and sewed them to the clip/barrette myself. Guenevere is a PRO so listen to her!

It's waaaay cheaper and works better if you just go to a "hood" beauty supply store, buy a few packs of Remy hair (about $50 per pack) and buy some wig clips (.99 for 3) and make your own clip ins.

Unless you're trying to JUST do the under side of your hair and leaving the hair on the top as a shorter layer... there's no way one pack of the stuff they sell at Sally's is enough. LOL.
I have thickish hair and I use 2-3.

Another problem you may be having is putting them in wrong...
You should be starting near the nape of your neck and throwing in another track every inch or so. That goes a long way to making your hair blend rather than just sit in one big lump underneath your extensions.
