Depends on your style. Check out the music mix thread.
Sorry I missed church. I was too busy practicing witchcraft and becoming a lesbian.

Play the music for the crowd, not for yourself. If you are working at an upscale gentlemen's club where the average patron is white collar 35+...DON'T play rap or hip hop or whatever YOU think is "hot" I guarantee THEY don't think it's "hot" and THEY are the ones who are going to give you money.
If you work at club where the crowd is younger, then go ahead...play all the current "hot" music.
The DJ should know, ask him for in-club suggestions.....
And use the cd of music you like to get you pumped Into The SuperStripper Zone on the way to work.

I disagree about playing music to the crowd demographic, to some extent. You are probably more comfortable performing to music you find sexier. Being more comfortable on stage will enhance your confidence and result in you being sexier. If you dance to music you are less comfortable with, you will probably feel awkward and less attractive. Feeling that way will make you that way and you won't sell as many dances because low self esteem is unattractive, whereas confidence is sexy.
Further, performing to music you like will be more enjoyable, so you'll like your job more because you'll be happy about yourself, what you're doing, and how much money you're making.

^ Yes and No. Sure it helps you when you like the music you dance to, but you also have to realize that you can like a song as much as you want ... if the customers don't like it they aren't going to pay much attention to you no matter what you're doing on stage. If they don't pay attention to you, you don't make money. If you don't make money, you feel awkward and less attractive. If they hear a song they like they're more likely to watch. If they're more likely to watch, they're more likely to tip. If they're more likely to tip, they're more likely to buy dances.
Like britneyireland said ... THEY are the ones who are going to give you money.
